Off we go again! Back into State border closures because of fresh outbreaks in NSW and Victoria. They’re closed/controlled from whichever side you approach.
Victoria’s trouble free run has ended with new cases (nobody has mentioned any further deaths yet), and New Year travel plans have understandably been thrown into chaos.
Nothing like the scale of your problems of course, but it could reinforce dire warnings of this new more contagious strain and we are constantly being told to “Stay indoors unless...” More strict controls to be reintroduced regarding face masks.
We are now listening to “people in the street” saying on TV that they are afraid of bringing the virus home, particularly when they’ve got elderly folk at home.
But let’s not forget we did an excellent job of control in Stage 2 and we’ll soon have this under control.
Official fireworks are still on, particularly in major cities and so we can watch from the comfort of Grandad’s favourite armchair whilst clutching a glass of something or other and a bag of crisps.
Expect you’ve seen that short black and white film on TV “Dinner for One”. It’s a world-wide event on TV at NYE and has been shown for donkey’s years here at 6.00 pm
Freddie Frinton as James the butler and May Warden as Miss Sophy!
Very funny still and we watched it every New Year’s Eve.
Last evening were British docos. on MI6 and its work on the Enigma plus action on spies “the name’s Bond, James Bond!” folowed by the lighting up of the Thames bridges in London. A right proper cultural evening!
Our weekend TV fare has virtually no “Specials”, so it’s back to YouTube and DVDs’
“Only Fools and Horses” is always good for a laugh. The episodes where they try to clean two chandeliers and the one involving the plastic dolls popping up from behind the sofa were hilarious. In fact, the whole boxed set will probably be dusted down once I get started!
Right! Just an Hour of 2020 left, but it’s not going out without a bang. I plan to welcome in 2021 and then I can join in your festivities tomorrow from a virtual distance of course!
I thought I could give you a preview of 2021, but chances are you may be getting a different version so best left alone.
Happy New Year
