Does anyone else just stay in their pajamas if you're not going out

I wanna know if I'm just being lazy haha. I just don't see the point in getting into nicer clothes if I'm just going to sit in my house all day. I suffer from RA and getting dressed is a struggle sometimes anyway.

Although I did get myself dressed this morning as I went out for a walk along the seafront. I can safely say it was freezing.

Hope you're all keeping well xx

Somebody posted that it was silly for older women to wear make up and assumed it was for other people. In my case it is for myself. I feel better with eye makeup and lipstick on.
I don’t consider myself silly. Well not about that anyway

Having an invisible condition I feel defensive sometimes and I wouldn't like to be told I've a lack of self respect. But I think a lot of people agreed that its nice to wear pjs Lucretzia.

I know people who won't wear jeans. I love them. I've got about ten pairs different styles.

If I wear makeup it's to make me feel better by looking better. Nothing wrong with that (if it works grin.

Lucretzia I'm sorry I used the words slobbing around - I'm sure you look better in your pjs than I do.
Anyway, I did manage to cut my hair and get showered before lunch.

And - if anyone's interested (which I'm sure you're not!) my hair is all choppy and not at all level at the back.
How do people cut their own hair?

Sheilasue Wed 06-Jan-21 16:08:31

Love my Jim jams and in the winter will change into them about 7pm and snuggle down to watch, tele, Netflix or read a book. But not all day, even if I am not going out

nadateturbe Wed 06-Jan-21 16:10:59

My hair is very straight - turning into a bob. I hold a mirror in front of my face to the side and turn my back to the wardrobe mirror. I can see to cut a straight line across the back. Now that its almost one length I clip the top layer up or put a hairband across to hold it. Cut a layer then lower the rest and cut across. If that makes sense. Its not perfect but no one's hair is at the moment.
My husbands hair is very wavy. Doesn't matter if its not perfect. I just chop away in sections and lift bits to make sure its all the same length. It looks much better than when he goes to the barber.

No tempting some days, but I've a dog to walk. Did get a bad soaking on Saturday at 4pm so stripped of clothes for machine and put pjs on, no way was I starting putting more clothes on then. Ooh they are so warm and comfy though, big elastic waistband too...

Rowsie Wed 06-Jan-21 16:31:40

No, I would never stay in my PJ's all day! I think it is depressing as the actions of showering and getting dressed seem to give a purpose (even if you have nowhere to go). If I am in all day (which is rare as I try to walk outside every day), it is track suit trousers and a fleece but never PJ's.

Callistemon Wed 06-Jan-21 16:31:49

It's nearly a bob but not quite, nadateturbe

When I'd cut the sides, unfortunately it looked like a 1980s Mullett so I had to chop the very bottom of the back into layers iyswim.

You do what suits you OP and don't let anyone make you feel guilty. I can't bear to stay in PJs all day and only did so when I suffered pneumonia a few years ago when I couldn't stop coughing for long enough to make it worthwhile. I was too exhausted to do otherwise.
I get dressed for my own self respect. When I was on chemo I got numb fingers and found pulling up socks difficult but I was wanted to do so myself (though I was sorely tempted to text my sister to ask her to come over to help) and I was determined to dress myself if it killed me. I would feel embarrassed if the doorbell rang if I wasn't dressed.

Sawsage2 Wed 06-Jan-21 16:38:42

No, change to warm clothes for day. Too cold for p'js.

lemongrove Wed 06-Jan-21 16:50:05

I shower after breakfast, do a few exercises then get dressed, as normal.Moisturise, brush hair and put on earrings and a quick burst of perfume and I’m good to go.No make up, am having a make up free lockdown.

handbaghoarder Wed 06-Jan-21 17:14:28

Sadly I dont like PJs. Wish I did. My work colleagues always used to change into theirs as soon as they got in from work Always sounds so comfy and cosy. But not me. No idea why. But during lockdown Ive lived in joggers and loose tops so not so different. Now is the perfect time to do as you please and enjoy.

Washerwoman Wed 06-Jan-21 17:23:54

I wear PJs in bed but always get dressed after my first cuppa and a shower or bath.I don't even like eating breakfast until I'm dressed and have never been able to start the day properly until I'm washed and dressed.Just moisturiser and a bit of lipstick is the only makeup.I do however seem to get earlier getting into to my nightwear and dressing gown in the evenings.Once I'm done for the day and hit the sofa I love to get comfy.Especially ditching the bra !In your own home do whatever suits you.

nadateturbe Wed 06-Jan-21 18:07:31

Callistemon I just googled 1970s mullet as I had no idea what it was. I'm sure your hair looked..erm...interesting.?
Goodness knows what we will all look like in a few weeks.

Oh dear, depressing news just started...

Callistemon Wed 06-Jan-21 18:14:21

At least I can't see the back
DH just offered to trim it for me.
(No.)

SuzannahM Wed 06-Jan-21 18:23:05

I'm so glad I decided to grow my hair long - was tempted to get it all chopped off last year but couldn't be bothered. It's now halfway down my back with just a few shorter bits round my face which used to be a fringe. Easy peasy to wash and straighten or curl about every five days.

NoddingGanGan Wed 06-Jan-21 19:00:38

No, and I don't understand people who do. I, too, have RA as it happens.

nexus63 Wed 06-Jan-21 19:42:41

i wear a nightie to bed then get up and put on a t-shirt and pj bottoms, if i go out and it's rarely for more than an hour i get back in my pjs, i have very bad psoriasis on my legs and arms so soft pjs work best.

gulligranny Wed 06-Jan-21 20:00:56

I don't have any PJs or nighties, so I certainly wouldn't spend the day in what I wear in bed!

I shower when I get up, then wear something comfortable. Some days I put make-up on, some days I don't - depends how I feel, but I always use moisturiser. My hair is short (at the moment!) so needs only a quick brush, it gets washed every other day.

TrendyNannie6 Wed 06-Jan-21 20:55:20

No I wouldn’t wear pjs all day, when I get up I have to get dressed, the only way I would wear pjs all day is if was poorly,

misty34 Wed 06-Jan-21 22:40:36

I always get dressed in comfy clothes but when it is as cold as now, I put my dressing gown on top of clothes for extra warmth. Home all day I cannot afford to have heating on all of the time so this suits me.

Taichinan Wed 06-Jan-21 22:45:42

There have been days when things have just got to me and I haven't bothered getting dressed - so mildly depressed I suspect. But usually I get showered and change into comfortable togs after I've done the housework. I like to keep my hair looking nice and I usually put on eyeliner - just so I can bear looking at myself in the mirror ?. But each to their own I say.

twiglet77 Wed 06-Jan-21 22:47:03

I love pyjama days! I don't wear the trousers in bed, just the top and big knickers, but put the trousers on when I get up. If I don't have to go out other than walking the dog then my pyjamas can stay on, I won't see anyone else. I certainly wouldn't go shopping in pyjamas or slippers though, as some youngsters do.

I hate make up and at 64, the number of times I've ever used it is still in single figures. And I stopped wearing a bra ages ago, just a comfy vest and however many layers the temperature dictates. Comfort counts for a lot more than appearance in my mind, if nobody else is going to see me I can avoid looking in the mirror - my dog still loves me!

Hetty58 Wed 06-Jan-21 23:09:15

AliceJane, Well of course I live in PJs (except for the daily dog walk). Why wouldn't I? It's all the rage right now!

They're so comfy, so easy to wash and dry. In fact, when it's very cold outside, I simply add my knitted leg warmers, trousers, boots and coat - then out I go!

If I feel chilly when I get back, the leg warmers stay on, the coat is replaced by a fluffy dressing gown, the boots by slippers. Easy, logical, practical - perhaps a permanent choice of winter attire?
