Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , but dry and cold outside here in brackley this morning , a clear sky above with a half moon .
Due to temperatures not going above freezing locally according to forecast , will stay in and maybe await post for reading materials .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Snow and deer prints in the snow are the order of today. I shall not be going far.
Marydoll what an absolute joy to have your DGD to greet you.
That means such a lot.
Sorry it had to be like that. I am sorry the hospitals are overburdened and very sorry that you became so very ill.

It's Thursday already. January is shorter than I remembered.
I can't take down the cards as more arrive everyday. The post has been very slow.
I shall answer emails today and do some more genealogy maybe.
Hoping all those who are unwell are getting the care they need and all of you can squeeze some joy out of each day.

I bet that you did look very fetching in your mustard cape, since you are a redhead Marydoll. I'm pleased that you are home in your own bed, please take it easy now ?

Good morning all from a very cold Stockport.
Not a good day for us as my GD is working from home again from today.
She is 22 and like all other young people misses her friends very much.
At least when she was in the office she had companionship and she got on really well with most people, now back to FaceTime etc in the evenings.
I, at least, am more protected but I feel so sad for her and all others deprived of a social life at this time.
I do realise how self-centred that sounds but their mental health is suffering.
We had a boiler breakdown on New Year’s Day, fortunately BG turned up trumps and were here at 8:30 the next morning.
Take care folks and have the best day you can.

Ah Marydoll I’m so glad about your son. That made me well up!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 07-Jan-21 09:00:40

Good to hear from you Marydoll snuggle down under your duvet and rest thanks

I have just purchased Where the Crawdads sing for my kindle, thank you for the recommendations folks ? I have got far too many books waiting to be read still ?

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Mapleleaf Thu 07-Jan-21 08:56:01

Good morning all,

A very keen frost here this morning.
Back to normal routines this morning with the resumption of the Pilates class. I’ve been very naughty and not done any practise over the holiday, so no doubt will be very stiff. Serves me right ?.

Took the trees down yesterday and stowed away all the tree decorations. It took hours, so maybe next year I won’t put so much up ( though I know I will!). Place looks a bit bare now, but lit candles and lamps last night to lift the gloom a bit.

Sorry to read your news about your young friend, GG and hope they make a speedy recovery.

I hope, too, that Marydoll is alright and was able to come home yesterday as she was hoping.

Kind thoughts to all with worries and fears. ?

Good morning all from my bedroom, where it's extremely cosy and where I shall be for the next few days!! I'm so glad I got home, its snowing and it would have been so difficult for DH to come and get me.
No family are allowed in the hospital, so I went home in my pyjamas, looking extremely chic, as always, wrapped in a beautiful mustard coloured cape, a Christmas gift from my friend, supported to the car park by a nurse pushing my matching, bright yellow case. The yellow case scenario is yet another tale to tell.

The whole experience of taking ill was quite traumatic to say the least. A hospital full of Covid patients, no beds anywhere, including Coronary Care, exhausted staff, trollies of patients in A & E corridors etc..
I'm usually very stoic and resilient, but this experience took the feet from me. I had tried so hard, for so long to stay out of hospital, but I knew I was in deep trouble and needed help.
However, there were some moments of humour amidst it all, which I may share another day. ?

Although my medicines have been tweaked, there is little more intervention to be done. The prognosis isn't good because I don't fit the usual profile for this condition. I don't have furred arteries, nor leaky valves, have low cholesterol, eat a Mediterranean diet, don't drink, never smoked, etc. It is so unfair, ? I should have just led a debauched life, as it would have made no difference and I could have had so much fun! It looks like my RA is winning!

The way that the NHS have adapted to the pandemic and the inventiveness in getting round issues is astounding!
I have have nothing but admiration for all the staff, labouring under this massive strain of trying to cope with Covid and delivering the best care they can. The heart technician said to me that she hadn't signed up to put her life at risk, but she would still be doing the best she could. ?

The bed situation was so bad, that I could no longer shield ?and I could have wept for the staff nurse, who told me that she had four staff phone in the night before, to say they were now shielding. She had no idea how she was going to run her ward.
For anyone thinking of going out and about, just get your necessities and stay home, protect yourself and the NHS.
I had a Covid test in hospital and will need another one done tomorrow. Just to be on the safe side, I need to stay away from DH just in case I'm infected. Never in my wildest imagination, did I think I would be in this situation.

Unfortunately, I have lost track of everyone's news, in fact I've totally lost the plot entirely, so I'm sending my love and best wishes to all my virtual friends, especially those who are struggling. Feeling so overwhelmed by all the kind messages, and some PMs from people I have never seen posting. ?

The best thing of all, my estranged son arrived in the garden yesterday when I got home, with my darling granddaughter, I wept buckets!!!

Take care dear friends, I'm off to write my latest novel, novella. ?

Lins, I'll wave back when we go for our click and collect ☺️
Happy birthday to your DD baubles.
I meant to say I'm glad that your readjusted glasses mean that you are no longer having headaches grandMattie ☺️

Good morning Mick and all from a very frosty S Hants, it looks slippy out as it was damp yesterday. Another early shopper here, I was at the farm shop just before 8 yesterday, the only customer, stocked up on veg. DD is working her normal 4 days in school, first lockdown she was p/t, a lot more people have now declared as key workers. Hoping progress is made today for those who are poorly. I have no real plans today, DH is off as no work, probably a swift walk if it defrosts.
Let’s all continue keep our heads down and stay safe.

Pittcity Thu 07-Jan-21 08:48:07

Good morning from a cold Colchester. Frost on windscreens but not widespread. Grey enough to need the lights on.
This time last year Thursday was my "day off", the day I had nothing on so I could get big household tasks done. Now that everyday is a "day off" Thursday is a highlight as I join my wider family online in the evening and we do Jay's weekly YouTube quiz. Otherwise the day is much like every other.
Much love to all xx

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very cold frosty South Yorkshire. We had a scare this morning when our boiler wouldn’t fire. After much fiddling about in the garage it came on. Phew! Will have to keep a weather eye on it in case it happens again. Nothing much on the agenda for us today except a stroll, and some paperwork to attend to. Have the best day you can folks.

Stilllearning Thu 07-Jan-21 08:46:41

Another good morning from S Lanarkshire, snowing here at the moment. Local DD works in Edinburgh but started her holiday period today and I’m so glad, the road to the capital from here is challenging in this kind of weather. Sat up far too late last night watching the events in Washington in disbelief so better make a push and get on with the day, hope Marydoll and others who are struggling, have a better dsy

Gingster Thu 07-Jan-21 08:46:07

Good morning all from a frosty Essex. No frost on the grass but roof tops and car roofs are white.

We put our decs away in the loft last weekend and I was congratulating myself that I hadn’t left anything out. There’s usually a little ornament or sprig of holly left somewhere . Until yesterday as i went out to the bins , there on the house wall was a small Xmas wreath hanging from the hook where my baskets go. . It can stay in the downstairs cupboard now. I might decorate it for Easter with chicks and eggs. ?.

My old work friend from nearly 50 yrs ago, phoned me yesterday and told me her husband, sister and family and brother and family have all had the virus. She has miraculously escaped but has been super careful with spraying, washing and disinfecting everything continually. They have all recovered thankfully.GG so sorry to hear about your young friend. ?

Let’s hope we hear from Marydoll today. ?.

No.1 son (whirlwind) did our shopping last evening. He finished work (at home) at 5 and was with us,plus shopping , at 5.40. He doesn’t hang around. ?

Wishing you all health, warmth and something tasty. ?

I like your ‘let’s be careful out there’ Nortsat. I used to love watching HSB.

So much for our trip to get the click and collect. Car won't start - dead as a dodo. Fortunately our DD has ridden to our rescue and has gone to get it for us and we now await the rescue service to turn up and tell us it's out battery - at least I think it is.

The car just isn't going anywhere much under present covid constraints so I think the battery has decided it's not needed. Probably means I need to drive round to recharge it but does that count as essential travel?

Hey ho! KBO is the plan.

Nortsat Thu 07-Jan-21 08:40:49

Good morning Mick and the GM team from east London where the weather seems reasonably mild.

All Christmas decorations safely packed away, cards recycled and dusting of living room and hall completed.
I have bought several new bird feeders and have installed them in the garden, so I hope the birds had a good breakfast, especially the cheeky robin, who I love to see.

Zooming with a friend this morning and I haven’t seen her for over a year. She will have a coffee at hand and so will I and we’ll pretend we’re in the coffee shop of the National Portrait Gallery, or St Martins in the Fields, where we usually meet.

A bit of housework today, which I now seem to do in instalments, then a walk. I walk daily to the park and noticed yesterday that the dwarf narcissi were showing signs of life. As soon as they open, I will take some photographs to share on here.

Hope Maryd had a good night in her own bed and sending best wishes to Travelsafar and of course gilly.
Have a good day all, keep those chins up and ‘let’s be careful out there’. ?

Urmstongran Thu 07-Jan-21 08:24:02

Totally agree*JanetG*! One of my top 5 reads of last year - and there were some strong contenders!

Where The Crawdads Sing is an amazing book! I couldn’t stop reading it, highly recommend.

Good morning Mick, morning all from S Lanarkshire where we’ve had more snow overnight. Yesterday I wore my new ice cleats and what a difference they made, walking on the ice and snow was so much easier.

Today is my DD’s 40th birthday, we all should have been going away for a few days to celebrate. That’s been postponed obviously but I’m beginning to wonder if it will even be possible in the summertime. Hey ho!

Hope Marydoll is tucked up in her own bed and that everyone else with worries or sadness has as good a day as possible.

Lins1066 Thu 07-Jan-21 08:08:12

Morning Cherry it is so clear I can see you from a back bedroom window, hope your heating is tickety boo. Will give you a wave from the beach later.
Best wishes to Susan's family.

ginny Thu 07-Jan-21 08:06:41

Good Morning from a cold and frosty N. Bucks.
DH has gone to take my car for MOT and service. It’s a local garage so he will walk back.
No particular plans here otherwise. More knitting/ crochet or other craft work. Maybe a short walk if I can find the enthusiasm .
Hope you all find a ? today.

Grandmabatty Thu 07-Jan-21 08:04:59

Good morning all. There's a light covering of snow in polmont and it's cold so I have put the heating on and retreated to bed. Groundhog Day for me. No plans and nowhere to go. I got a new phone yesterday and I am struggling with inserting the sim so I'll have to wait till my DD has a look. I'm fighting hard against a fit of the glums this morning. I hope you have a good day.

aggie Thu 07-Jan-21 08:02:29

Good Morning all, a wee smattering of snow here , it never thawed at all yesterday so it’s crunchy and slippy !

Good morning all from a dark and very cold east coast of Fife. I was either too hot or cold through the night. Can’t get my thermostat to say even. Felt sick I think due to my lovely dinner of roast pork must watch my diet more closely in future. Mind you the dinner was really delicious. I went off pork during my first pregnancy a very long time ago think I’m making up for it now. Gluttony comes to mind. Have a warm and cosy day in today everyone stay safe you lovely people
