Good Morning Monday

Good news Marydoll I’ll catch up with reading everyone’s posts later but just wanted to say Good Morning before I have to go out into what is a beautiful sunny morning in Portugal but still only 5.5°C it went down to 4°C last night.

I thought it would never be light as it was so dark an hour ago.
It's not as cold so expect we'll see rain before the day's out, though at the moment it's not too bad at all. At least it's not dodgy underfoot which is the main thing if you're out and about locally.

Just been looking at some photo's D in Oz emailed this morning. Everyone looks so healthy and fit and considering D will be 60 in less than 2 weeks she still looks like a girl ? It's the good life there obviously. Her and her H are househunting in readiness before they retire. Thank goodness they've all remained virus-free there.

Another chicken dinner today to use up this big bird. The cats will help too I really enjoyed my dinner yesterday it went down a treat.

Since tuning in the TV I've come across programmes I'd never heard of. One being E4 I think it is and on Saturday I was watching Married at First Sight--Australia, a cringeworthy show but can be addictive when you follow the people involved.

I suppose I'll have to do some dusting at some point just to show there's no ill-feeling. Nobody is going to notice either.

Those daffs are beautiful and a sign of Spring. We should all have a vase of them to brighten our day.

My second Covid test has come back NEGATIVE, so it looks as if I have escaped unscathed after my hospital stay. One less thing to worry about!

Good morning from Durham. Much milder this morning - nothing planned. Woken in the night by the burglar alarm going off - a spider on one of the sensors! Made tea and went back to bed, but couldn’t really settle, napped a bit and now have a thick head. Will sort out my car insurance today and the exH of my friend has text to say he wants to speak to me. Freaked me out a bit, but she’s been estranged from her son since a funeral in May, so I think it’s about that. She’s at a loss, so hope we can help.

Good Morning everyone. Sunshine and deep blue skies are back.......along with my good mood. Will seize the chance for a beach walk and to hang out some bed linen.

A little Robin is feeding directly outside my bedroom window. I asked DH to pick up a pack of small seed for birds. Looking in my bird book, it seems that most of the little chaps I need to feed are all insect eaters. Not sure how successful this will be - but have already drawn a blank with bread and biscuit crumbs.

Speaking of crumbs, Mary, what are you like? Is this new ‘digestive disorder’ (?) going to be added to your lengthy list of problems? Hope not. Hope you’re feeling better day on day and the change in meds is helping? Izabella has asked me to send her warm wishes to you after your recent hospitalisation.

Loved that photo of little Bertie keeping his eye on the Capitol, Bella. Though I was struck by a slight similarity in his hairstyle/profile to that bloke whose name I shall not mention, ?

Some of you busy, some of you worried, positive/negative (in thoughts).......some struggling, some sad. Let’s continue to think of each other, try very hard to keep it together and JUST HOPE, as we move towards a chance to see an end to this nightmare.

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where true to form it’s windy and raining though a message from my weather app expects it to freeze later. It is January I suppose.
It’s good to see those daffs gM thank you. A real reminder spring is not too far away.
I always make a note of when I see my first snowdrops of the year but as I’m not out and about I haven’t seen any yet this year.
Glad you have decided to go for the mammogram Nannyjan. I’m sure the protocols will be in place.
Hopefully the postman will bring my new blouse this morning. I’m not sure when I’ll wear it as I’m dressed in ‘sloth clothes’ most of the time at the moment but again it’s a promise of better things to come.

Good morning everyone from north Kent where it is much warmer.

Will have a walk out later this morning with DH to the allotment to pull up some leeks. As ever a bit uncertain about venturing out, but we shall wear masks and it is easy to see people coming and we can take the appropriate avoiding action- some are as wary as we are and, like us, either cross the road or move across to one side of the pavement whilst others appear to be totally oblivious to any sort of social distancing as they walk in the middle of the pavement straight towards you.

Good to hear that you are not suffering from some obscure disease Marydoll but a simple case of digestiveitus droppus décolleté easily remedied with a quick sweep of a cold flannel!

I managed to get daffodils in my Sainsbury's order as well. I was so excited. Silly the small things which please so much.

My DH is going to the optician today - the first time he has been out alone in ages. He has just gone to see if he can start his car!!

Traveslafar I was so sorry to here your sad news about your DH and your struggles with the dreaded virus. Please stay strong and know we are all here for you.

I dont think I could have got over my hump without reading your lovely posts, this is the best therapy for doldrums, thank you Mick for posting everyday.

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where’s it’s not raining and seems mild out. That’s worked out well as I’m meeting a friend for a walk (well I use that term loosely .. more of a stroll) and a chat. Be nice to catch up. She will be the first person socially outside of family I have talked to in person since the end of November.

Mind you with all the dire warnings from Professor Witty it worries me a bit. Should we even walk side by side? I shall wear a mask and keep my distance.

Our Yorkshire Lass has just phoned, happy as they have a timed slot to pick up their (new for them 6y old) car today from the dealership. We could get ours back - but when? Is it considered essential to drive from Yorkshire to Lancashire ... bringing Christmas presents? Who knows. We would like our car back. I’d feel safer going in it to my stepfather than using the bus mid week. What do others on here think? Maybe I should post on the ‘is this allowed?’ thread!

Another good morning from S Lanarkshire, dull and wet but snow free so a walk in the fresh air at last.
After reading the red cabbage posts yesterday, I thought I would tell my own (true) story. Back in the late seventies/early eighties, I was given my first Delia Smith cookery book, still my favourite, and I decided to try her red cabbage recipe. So, to the local greengrocer, and asked for a red cabbage. The assistant looked at me sympathetically and said ‘No hen, it’s beetroot you’re looking for’! It still makes me laugh!
Lovely pictures this morning, I love Bertie guarding the Capitol, Bellasnana, that’s a keeper, and the flowers lift the spirits.

It is much milder here this morning, and I can see some primroses peeking through.
Like many others, it's a ground hog day here, so laundry etc.
FH has a dental appointment in a couple of hours, but I think it is just a check up, although he will need work, when The dreaded drilling is allowed.
Finished knitting my jumper yesterday, so sewing up and trying on to see if I like it. It's not unknown for a garment to be undone and re- knitted.
Nannyjan, please do go for your mammogram. All will be done to keep you safe.
I wish I had a DH who was into DIY. Wielding a paintbrush might be good for him and definitely for me. ?
Marydoll, glad it was only choccy biscuit crumbs, and I laughed at yesterday's? numbered annoyances of your DH.

Good morning from a milder and brighter Norfolk.

Nannyjan I had my mammogram a couple of weeks ago and it was fine. All procedures in place and I did feel safe. Not worth risking not going.

Shoppings lists to compile today ready for collection tomorrow and a zoom Pilates class later this morning. Goodness I may be worn out, that would be novel!

Jealous of the biscuits in bed Marydoll DH banned them long ago as apparently I spread the crumbs on his side of the bed.

Morning all from South Notts where we have a light frost but it doesn't feel too cold.

Rose early to take my little car in for a service and MOT - hope it passes. I expect it'll need some work as it's 17 years old. I do hope it isn't ready for the knacker's yard just yet as it is very much needed for my weekly shop if nowt else.

You've been told to just run the car engine Gaga? That surprises me - I was advised to go on a little drive each week and that is what I do (but what do I know?) and oh heck, over the border into Derbyshire and hoping I don't get my collar felt! I don't get out of the car though and not near any beauty spots. If I broke down that wouldn't be very clever but that could happen round the corner, couldn't it?

Anyway, hope all is well with everyone, especially those with illness or worries during these strange times.

Thank you all. I will go for the Mammogram, it is in a mobile unit about a 10 minute walk from me. I just didn't want to fall at the last hurdle before I have the vaccination. Not been to the hairdressers since last March or the gym. Weighing it up I am sure they have all the safety protocols in place.

Good morning from a mild and windy NE.
We had a power cut yesterday morning just at the time people would be popping the roast in the oven. DH rang and was told that 17,900 were without power and reconnection time was typically 90 minutes. I went to put on my warmest trousers and a thick cardigan and socks but it was only off twenty minutes.
Heard from DS yesterday and my friend rang to see if were managing. An hour later DD Skyped to talk to us. We go weeks without contact and then it all happens in one afternoon.
DD has two cats she is looking after for people who have been stuck in other countries, she has to keep them in different parts of the house because they fight. DD says that she thinks she is stuck with one of them because the owner has decided not to return to Brussels, she will have to get the microchip amended and try to get some record of vaccinations.
New tablet being delivered this morning, this one keeps turning off when battery is still 80% full.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. The lying snow has disappeared overnight so it must be warmer today.
Watched the Helen Reddy film, ‘I am woman’ on Netflix last night. It was very good. I had forgotten some of her songs.
Not much on today other than to prepare for this evening’s zoom charity board meeting.
Lots of sadness and struggles around today so some more spring flowers for everyone.

Misty but much less cold this morning so will need to wear fewer layers. Have woken up with a very painful hand and wrist - don’t know if I have slept on it or if the arthritis is checking out a new site to torture me. A couple of ibuprofen should help and then I can tackle getting DH up with all that entails. Could definitely do without this!

Otherwise another blank day apart from essential admin. Stay at home seems to be today’s message so I will do that.

Hello and good morning from a very grey Northampton. A short walk to the postbox today to post a birthday card to my great-niece. I am being ultra careful when I go out these days and wear a mask. Don't want to risk anything with the vaccine so close.

Lovely daffodils - I managed to get some in my Sainsbury's delivery last week, and tried to order more this week, but they tell me there are none.

NannyJan I had a mammogram a couple of weeks ago and the radiographer wore a mask and a visor.

Expecting a wool delivery this morning, so I shall quarantine it for a couple of days, and then make a start on the scarf which caught my eye on Facebook last week. I have downloaded the pattern.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs on a very grey South Yorkshire day. My back hurts like the very devil today; no idea where that has come from. Perhaps some vigorous kitchen cleaning will send it on its way. We will go to the supermarket later when it’s quiet and get, among other things, some navel oranges. Good morning from the Shropshire/Powys border where it’s a milder start to the day.

I had a hospital appointment this morning but have spoken to the consultants secretary and I am now having a telephone appointment this morning.Am happy with this as the hospital I was attending apparently has the highest number of cases in Wales.

My uncle remains in ICU battling Covid.My aunt is recovering at home.

We did a lot of decorating in the first lockdown but like Mr corner, DH is wielding the paintbrush again and has decided to ‘freshen up’ the kitchen.He is a perfectionist so it may take a while,

I will walk up to the postbox after my phone call other than that a housework and reading day.

It looks to be a milder start to the day as the frost has gone. There's a lovely sunrise too, which lifts the spirits.

Not a lot on the agenda today other than setting the washer going and changing the bedding (I meant to do that yesterday but didn't so must today ?).

Nannyjan, i'll echo everyone else and advise you to go for the mammogram. When I went for mine, I felt very safe, as they had everything set out as you would expect during this time, and the radiographer was kitted out in full PPE.

So sorry to read all the sad news today, and send my thoughts to you all. ?
