Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a cold frosty start to the day. The forecast is cold but dry so will probably do a walk this morning before settling down with a book in the afternoon
It’s so lovely that your DGD thought of you and called for a chat grandmattie I’m looking forward to when my DGC are old enough to do that on their own too
Scentia and Cornergran our garden is a soggy mess and still under icy wet snow just now but I’m really looking forward to when I can get out there and check the plants over to see what’s growing. Hopefully it won’t be long before there’s some spring bulbs poking up through the soil and signs of spring on the way.
Thinking of everyone with family worries and struggles, it’s frustrating when you can’t help in any way but sometimes just a listening ear helps. I know it helps with my DD2 as she’s always offloading on me!
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today, even just a little thing and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Good morning all from a milder Glasgow now that we have had a snowfall.

I am a bit concerned about GD 15 at the moment. Normally a very upbeat, sunny disposition girl, she has hit a slump and lost motivation to keep up with her school work which is so unlike her. DD is keeping a close eye on her and in turn can speak to me for a listening ear and any advice I can offer.
Difficult times for so many.

As it’s a bit milder I will faff about in the garden for some fresh air and get the incinerator going to burn yet another pile of cardboard boxes, pointing out how many online purchases we are making! ?

Sorry to hear you are having troubled times momb. This strange life we are living doesn’t help either.

Have a pleasant day all.

Good Morning everyone , cold and foggy here , with a weird orange glow in the East
Yesterday a friend turned up at the back door , I pulled on my coat and mask to go outside to see her , she was calling round to say she was going into complete lockdown and wouldn’t be around again !
I have no idea what she was meant ! We are all in lockdown and we were chatting socially distant outside , I was very uncomfortable about it all
I will ring her later to see if she is ok

Good morning everyone! I'm so glad I found Gransnet. In all weathers I like a small window open in my bedroom but woken up this morning by yowling cats! Managed some unbroken sleep last night. Just starting to get light here. R4 news on and first lovely hot cuppa of the day. Frosty dry & cold on the North West coast today, hope it's not slippy outside as need to go into the village (stayed indoors for nearly a week & got cabin fever). Have a good day, all sunshine

Morning Mick, morning All from a dark, dry corner of Somerset. A wait and see sort of day ahead here, I’m sure something will be along to fill the space. Family worries fill my head, frustrated not to be able to help. Involvement in home schooling sounds wonderful marydoll, as does your unexpected chat with your granddaughter grandMattie, these things really raise spirits. Our garden is too wet to do anything just now scentia but like you I’d love to be able to make a beginning. Thinking of Auntieflo and all with health or other worries. Look after yourselves everyone.

Kim19 Fri 15-Jan-21 07:22:54

So it is! Thanks gM.

Gagagran Fri 15-Jan-21 07:21:17

Thinking of Auntie Flo too - hope she gets good news.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 15-Jan-21 07:16:33

Good morning Mick and all

Still dark here in S E Essex!

We have the 5yr old and 1yr old today, home schooling with the class zoom meeting, the children get so excited to see their friends.

Takeaway Chinese this evening.

Thinking of AuntieFlo and her hospital appointment.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Late good morning from a dark E Kent. Very late again. Haven’t slept much recently, so must be catching up.
Kim, it’s a carol - In the Deep Midwinter.
It’s Friday, bedding day. Seems to come round too fast.
Out of nowhere, 10 yo DGD1 called for a chat. She told me she was learning a new language; she already did French at school, tried mandarin on Duolingo but it was too hard, so she’s doing German! I have little to do with DD’s family as you know, so it was lovely to hear her. She sounded so grownup. Saw Iris briefly, she told me that she was mostly doing Lego, school work is boring. Unlike her sister, she’s not remotely academic.
Hope today is kind to everyone. Stay safe.

Thanks Beechnut, the offer wouldn't register for some reason, but I'll email them about it later. I like the origins of Parsley Box, it has s family story behind it.

Scentia Fri 15-Jan-21 06:57:11

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and feels cold ?
Off to work in a bit but only until 3 today.
This weekend I hope to get into the garden snd do a bit of sorting. I would also like to get out on my bike but the cold weather really upsets my arthritis snd I struggle to motivate myself even though I know exercise will help. I usually like a swim in the winter but that is not possible at the moment. My DD read that open water swimming will help my pain but I think she is crackers to suggest I do that in this weather?? there are a lot of people round here go swim in the river dove though, maybe in the summer!
Take care everyone and stay safe. Hope today goes well Auntieflo
❤️

Beechnut Fri 15-Jan-21 06:55:24

My Parsley Box should be here later today. We will feel waited on Viridian. I hope you found the introductory offer ok.

Beechnut Fri 15-Jan-21 06:52:28

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s dry and looks cold out. I feel toasty in bed with a chamber pot of tea.

An awful night that sounds for you momb.
How lovely to read about your time with your granddaughter Marydoll.

Yesterday’s shopping trip was early so I saw very few people in store. I think part of my apprehension came from the fact that my car had not been driven since Boxing Day and I wanted to get enough groceries to see me through for a while so I can do my Stay Home bit.

I’ve looking forward to smoked haddock Lateran a day of pottering.

Take care and stay safe with things you have to be doing today ?

Good morning from a cold, dark south Cornwall. Mick I've just placed an order with Parsley Box, so thanks for the recommendation. I look forward to having meals someone else has cooked.

Today I'm taking a walk around the local Park and getting my art room ready for the delivery of a bed chair ('Sounds like something out of a hospital, mum!' said my daughter), a snazzy orange 3ft wide chair thingy on little legs which, yes, folds out to a bed. Very space-saving. Good old Argos.

Have the best of days everyone.

Gagagran Fri 15-Jan-21 06:41:42

Good Morning Mick and all who follow. Pretty cold here on the south coast - 1.5c at 6am. Hope it warms up a bit!

Highlight of todays agenda is a click and collect at Tesco between 8am and 9am.

I have been very impressed by Tesco throughout the lockdowns we have endured. It's very rare to have a substitution or anything missing and they have maintained lots of offers on a wide range of products.

I like click and collect as it gets me out of the house, we see a bit of the locality en route and the collection area is well organised and slick.

We are still patiently waiting for our jabs - should not be too long now as we are in the over 75 category. Despite all the criticism in the media I do think the government have done a great job with getting the vaccine ordered so promptly, supplied and administered. It must be a logistical nightmare.

Keep positive everyone - we shall get through. sunshine

Ashcombe Fri 15-Jan-21 06:33:27

Good morning from a calm but cold Torbay, after a few days of milder temperatures.

Yesterday, my Asda delivery arrived as planned with no less than nine (!) substitutions, all of which were acceptable. I see that, from their website, the company has been awarded the title of “Online Grocer of the Year, 2020”. Yesterday their CEO announced that their pharmacies were planning to become involved in the Covid vaccinations.

Marydoll: I’m so pleased to read of your renewal of the relationship with your DS and DGD and how rewarding to be involved in her homeschooling. Scentia: What happy news about your car!

Yesterday DD2 was 42 and we enjoyed a lovely chat in the evening about her day, most of which had been spent as a study day for a MBA, which is related to management in teaching. She was born in the harsh Winter of 1979, when delivery drivers were on strike, causing shortages of various essentials, including petrol. I never knew whether her Dad would make it to visit us as it necessitated a 40 mile round trip. It was March before the snow cleared sufficiently to walk out with her pram! Reminiscing....!

I hope everyone is well and has a good day, as free from worries as possible.

Bellasnana Fri 15-Jan-21 06:32:42

Good morning from Malta where another day of wind and showers is forecast.

A quick walk to the corner shop and then I shall make some soup. Ought to wash the floors as well but with the dog coming in and out it’s a thankless task and I’m more or less resigned to having paw marks throughout.

Thoughts with all who have worries and illness, special thoughts for Aunteflo as well.?

Stay safe everyone.☀️

mumofmadboys Fri 15-Jan-21 06:31:02

Good morning all! Have slept badly and had a horrible dream which involved someone trying to kill a dog! Such random things! Anyway woke feeling very troubled! Worrying about a member of the family and previous to the dream lay awake for hours. Will be glad to get up!!

Kim19 Fri 15-Jan-21 06:25:03

Morning Michael and all to follow. Peeked through the curtains and thought of the hymn (carol?) 'earth stood hard as iron'. Quickly bad in bed. Have noticed our buses running empty too. Such a waste of fuel etc but I guess they have to offer a service. Have a good day whatever mischief you all get up to.
