‘Evening All’
?

We had thick snow this morning - most unexpected! I suppose we have to remember it is January. I took this photo at 9am from our front door just as Himself had crossed the decking to go to Sainsbury’s (down in the lift!). The footprints across the decking made me smile.

I was in labour 43 years ago at this time of day. Daughter was born at 23:57hrs - I always joke with her she was nearly late for her own birthday!

I disappeared down a bit of a rabbit hole earlier. Covid thoughts related. Some days it’s just more anxiety producing than others don’t you find?

I missed the bio on Neil Diamond (I watched Dolly Parton last week) so I’m going to relax now and settle down to watch it on catch up.
?

Hope everybody has a pleasant and peaceful night. x

‘Goodnight All’.

Scones, cinnamon, apple, cream - delicious, thank you. I no longer bake I just pop in here for your generous bounties.
All worthy of Star Baker ⭐️
Jaxjacky shocking news about your neighbour and couldn’t be a worse time to try and help. Is it possible the lady’s condition will improve with time? It must be frustrating if the words are in her head but the speech doesn’t come out as she wants it to.

Synonymous Sat 23-Jan-21 17:15:34

We have so many fruit trees Puzzler that we are really spoilt with all the blossom around us and the bees really get busy by then too. That blossom is a very pretty and deep pink.
DD has made some fruit scones using my gluten free flour so I am hoping that Himself won’t realise it isn’t the regular flour and will just enjoy them with his favourite strawberry jam. confused

Jaxjacky Sat 23-Jan-21 16:59:03

Yiayia all hail antibiotics, hopefully they’ll sort it out. Beautiful scenes Soop, very cheering, the crab apple blossom is pretty, one of my favourites Puzzler61.
Eventful day, heard this morning neighbour had a major stroke a couple of days ago, then earlier told she’s home, not as bad as they though but her speech is affected, her husband is pretty deaf, so could be tricky. I believe she’s not quite 60, works as a carer in a home, long shifts. It’s difficult enough offering to help at the best of times, but I’ll stick a card through their door tomorrow. Went for a walk earlier, very quick walk, it’s bitter, we too have snow forecast, probably rain ?

Yiayia4 Sat 23-Jan-21 16:49:58

Thank you Puzzler and brook.
I’m certainly taking it easy.? loves being lazy as well.

soop Sat 23-Jan-21 16:46:32

brook I shall have one of your freshly baked scones if there is one left -after this lot pile through the door with their best china plates and freshly starched linen napkins wink

soop Sat 23-Jan-21 16:43:12

Puzzler The blossom is stunning. We have that to look forward to sometime.
I take the photos through the sitting room window.
I shall add a couple extra before I log off.

Nannytopsy Mr Soop is composing the strongly worded missive and the complaint will be in the post on Monday morning.

Yia You are right...once there is a sign of a UTI it is best to seek medication right away. The discomfort is grim. I am pleased to hear that you have started the treatment. Take things easy.

I'm away for today. Time to snuggle up and have a brew together with a read of the newspaper.

Here are the two photos that I took not very long ago. I like the way that the anvil clouds appearing to be forming a bridge over troubled waters.

Until tomorrow. Stay safe and warm. smile moon

brook2704 Sat 23-Jan-21 16:32:43

I’ve got apple and cinnamon scones in the oven if anyone fancies? There just about ready now ...

Puzzler61 Sat 23-Jan-21 16:02:23

Your photo’s are amazing soop. Can you see that view from your windows or do you walk and position yourself so that you may frame that view?
Yiayia glad to hear you have started on antibiotics now and know exactly what length of recovery to expect. Not too long I hope.
I always look forward to blossom-time Synonymous.
I took this photo of our ornamental crab apple last year.

Yiayia4 Sat 23-Jan-21 15:19:52

Wonderful pictures Soop what a joy to look out at everyday.

Yes I got antibiotics yesterday and feel a bit easier today.Never learn my lesson and leave it too long!I know your a sufferer but hopefully not so much now.

We have snow yellow warning for tomorrow most unusual for Surrey we will see!

Will continue being lazy hope you all have a pleasant afternoon and evening keep safe.

Nannytopsy Sat 23-Jan-21 14:35:32

Lovely photos Soop. Have you sent off your strongly worded BT letter yet? DS and their area have had no broadband for 48 hrs. You can imagine how that is going down with teenagers in the house ?

soop Sat 23-Jan-21 14:28:38

Yiayia (hugs) aplenty. Hoping that the wretched UTI can be dealt with asap. Are you able to pick up antibiotics? If so, keep taking the pills until the infection is under control. smile

soop Sat 23-Jan-21 14:25:56

Thank you, Pittcity for your successful sleuthing. Chicken and I have been reunited.

Chicken In spite of your some experiences (not in the kitchen) that have dampened your enthusiasm for communicating on GN, please consider popping into the kitchen on occasions. You will be made very welcome. cupcake brew sunshine flowers

So lovely to look out of our windows on a snowy, winter wonderland. DD took me out on our regular walk regardless and it was so good to hear the crunch under our feet. Tired now! Our near neighbour went to the grit bin and has been throwing the salty grit up and down the road, which is on a hill, so that we can get out and about - what a star!

Had a phone call to say that the last of our fruit trees order has now arrived at the nursery so we are going to need to pot them up in compost and wait for the warmer weather.to get them into the garden. I wish I could remember what size rootstock we chose so that we can plan where to put them but now I am looking forward to the spring and seeing all the blossom out. smile

Hello to everyone in the kitchen this evening, such good news about so many getting the vaccine now, the free taxi rides are such a thoughtful gesture Lins and well you can’t beat the home vaccination service charleygirl, Galen and any others too!
Hope you feel much better soon yiayia take care ?

Galen Fri 22-Jan-21 21:35:13

Had a lovely supper tonight
I shared a cheddar cheese and Somerset cider fondue with Kate and Gary.
It was delicious.
There’s a boiled fruit cake in the kitchen for your delectation!
Gary and I were discussing a possibility of a canard a la’orange dinner in the future using a barberry duck and homemade Bigarde sauce.

Puzzler61 Fri 22-Jan-21 21:22:44

Well done Charley, and everyone who has had their vaccines or are having them this weekend.
Yiayia I hope you feel better soon flowers
Jaxjacky wow, a letter from the clinic - they are becoming scarce in these days of texts and e mails.

Charleygirl5 Fri 22-Jan-21 20:54:41

I mentioned to the hospital for the eye trial I had not been sent an appointment for next month- I was emailed a date, Wednesday the 3rd but no time! That is just as important as the date- ah well.

I could not get to the phone quickly enough around 8 pm tonight but it was a message from my GP surgery saying somebody will be in touch tomorrow because they are sending somebody to my house to give me the vaccine on Sunday.

The surgery had organised two centres for the vaccine but public transport is very difficult, quite a distance and no parking. The surgery organises transport but I live in a different borough so I am excluded- weird, hence the personal service.

There is a centre a mile away from here but I cannot access it. I tried online but I was offered a centre 30-40 miles away so I will stay with the 1st class service being organised.

Evening, Muse are a brilliant band too! Apologies all, but I very rarely bake ? very selfish, a minimal sweet tooth, my poor children used to get fruit, yogurt or ice cream. In the days of friends to dinner I did, a few years ago now, rustle up a pecan pie that was well received. I can knock out bhajis or samosa though.
I had a lovely follow up letter this afternoon (postie getting later each day) from my breast clinic appointment on Tuesday. The opening paragraph ‘It was a pleasure to see you...etc’ quite refreshing and good to have it in black and white. Had a lazy dinner, quiche, new potatoes and marrow fat peas, DH was pleased as he clears and washes up. Feet up, Friday TV is not too bad, you too have a pleasant evening.

Lins1066 Fri 22-Jan-21 20:09:18

Hope you feel better soon Yiayia4, good for your DH.

Yiayia4 Fri 22-Jan-21 19:42:10

Quick visit tonight I have a UTI and feel a bit rubbish but will return tomorrow.
Good night everyone stay safe.

Doodle Fri 22-Jan-21 19:35:32

Evening all. I sound like urms without the photo ?
Good news for all those who have had the vaccine. Glad you are being done Galen. I’d love some boiled fruit cake please.
Muse glad you found the kitchen, it’s a lovely place.
Jaxjacky happy birthday to your 8 year old DGS. It’s my DGd’s 18th today. You just blink and they’re grown up. ?
Hope all the kitcheners are ok. I’m really tired tonight so just popped in to wish you all well.
urms you can’t go to sleep, we’ve got an encore of the clog dance in the Argy later. ?
