What have you stopped doing since lockdown?

As I only venture out for essentials now, I have stopped wearing a bra! I have always found them uncomfortable but felt it was a requirement in the office. No more sore points from the underwire! Bliss. Have you given up on something you thought important before the pandemic?

Stopped going to work - can’t wait to go back- working from home by phone.

Stopped wearing makeup- still wear earrings and perfume every day

Stopped doing all the things I like such as meeting friends/book club/ volunteering/ browsing in shops/bus rides/ staying away/

Did manage (thank goodness) to have my hair cut and coloured just before lockdown . I’m doing more walking and still enjoy my hobbies of reading and knitting but harder to get wool now.

Am lucky that I’m still able to see my daughters who I am in a bubble with

Looking after grandchildren
Seeing my lovely 94 year old Mum
(she lives over 300 miles away)
Swimming
Take away cappuccinos
Having highlights
Having a good look in charity shops
However I can't give up early rising, walking, lipstick, perfume, make up and earrings!

Couldn't possibly not wear a bra too uncomfortable, but I have stopped:
Make up ( except to go to the hospital, eyes and cheeks only as mask covers the rest)
Lunch with friends
Dinner with friends
Coffee with friends
Shopping to browse
Walking in the forest(OA got so bad can only walk about 50 yards)
Sunshine holidays (obviously)

I seem to have given up healthy eating and sobriety! :D
Also blow-drying my hair.

I've stopped wearing a bra, but I do wear bra tops.
I've stopped wearing make-up, jewellery, perfume - what's the point when I don't go anywhere except Tesco or Sainsbury for a C&C?
I've stopped hugging my grandchildren sad

I wouldn't worry too much about the holes closing if you're not wearing earrings. I didn't wear earrings for around 10 years and one day just thought I'd see if I could get a pair in. I was amazed (and pleased!) to find they slipped in after only a very slight struggle! I wore them daily for a while so my ears would become acclimatised once again, and now I have no trouble at all with them.

Stopped driving. Apart from weekly click n collect at supermarket. Don't want to break rules in non essential travel plus nowhere open. But am now getting anxious about driving on a motorway in the future as have lost confidence.
Anyone else feel like this ?

Yes living!!

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 28-Jan-21 09:24:35

No going out on the spur of the moment unless I'm in need of something which I can't make myself.
No visiting family as my sister has enough people in her bubble. No sewing group meetings since the start of the first lockdown. Only going out for essentials.
Yes, it's depressing and the only antidote is keeping busy with pleasant things such as hobbies.

Yesterday I attend a meeting, in our entrance lobby area, of our Residents Cttee - only five of us sitting on chairs a good two metre apart. Before I went down, I actually applied some of my perfume - and also lippy. Not having worn any lipstick for months now. Then we all wore masks, so nobody even saw my lips!!!!

Another braless gran here. Thanks for the reminder about the ear rings. I'll put some in today to stop the holes closing.

I do feel that things will improve now. We are having vaccinations on Saturday and the infection rate is reducing daily in our area. It had shot up (starting from 10 days after Christmas).

lemsip Thu 28-Jan-21 08:50:45

gave up the bra, fortunately not huge so just more comfortable.

miss my singing and exercise groups. also
getting on the bus to the beach.

Humbertbear Thu 28-Jan-21 08:48:18

I no longer go swimming,
shopping,
visit friends,
go out for dinner
Go to the theatre
Go to art galleries
Belong to numerous galleries and the NT
No more travel.

However, I get washed and dressed every morning (can’t do without a bra), always wear some make up, a necklace and earrings. I also always get some exercise, which I didn’t do in my life before lockdown. And I talk to friends a lot more.

I agree Biscuitmuncher, I feel like I’ve stopped living ? I’m still going to work but have stopped wearing makeup. My leg hair is fully grown and have stopped buying new clothes. Don’t have a partner to look nice for so why bother? At this rate I’ll look like a bag lady before long....

CanadianGran Thu 28-Jan-21 04:10:09

Stopped colouring my hair, and I really like my new grey.

hollysteers Thu 28-Jan-21 01:50:46

Singing, no rehearsals or singing groups?
Bookgroup as don’t fancy Zoom (or prescribed books at the moment)
Day coach trips which I love.
Girls’ nights out in the city.
Hairdresser and Botox.

heath480 Thu 28-Jan-21 01:41:39

Swimming,I go every day normally, swim 1,000 metres,it’s my way of keeping fit and mobile.

I am 72.Really feel my fitness dropping away now.

Biscuitmuncher Thu 28-Jan-21 01:23:24

Seems like I've stopped living, just seems to be a grim existence at the moment

MayBee70 Wed 27-Jan-21 23:59:23

Stopped having lovely chats with fellow dog walkers (albeit sometimes exchanging pleasantries from a distance): ditto chats with people on buses, trains, supermarket queues. Stopped seeing my children and grandchildren. On the plus side, stopped eating too much because I don’t go shopping and am scared of running out of food.

JaneJudge Wed 27-Jan-21 22:44:42

I’m another with no bra or makeup. Just like in my teens except two stone heavier.
No ear rings - pre lockdown I wore them every day.
No jewellery
I wear trainers, walking boots and wellies.

Not seen or hugged friends.
Don’t do my usual day a week care of young grandchildren
