Good morning from a dry E Kent. The full moon woke me up through the gaps in the curtains.
Nothing on again today. Got my sunnies the other day, and had my regular ones adjusted. It’s so nice to have properly fitted ? glasses.
Reminds me of a boy in one of my French classes. I commented that I was going to have “new spectacles”. He very tactfully told me that “in English, the are called glasses “ ?
Changing the sheets and probably salmon for dinner.
Marydoll, I’m praying with all my heart for your pregnant friend.
I hope today will bring some ☀️and ?into your hearts and souls. Stay safe.

urmstongran my Mum used to say the value of something is ‘all that and a bit more’ which is exactly what ours is worth, from a miserable wet Oxfordshire.
I mixed some epoxy resin last night for a crafts experiment and now the tin is stuck to the tray......... so today I will be mostly trying to get it unstuck!

Have a good day everyone.

Hello and good morning from a bright and sunny Northampton. Looks nice enough to go out for a walk, which I know would do me good, but I just can't summon up the motivation to go out, as I would be walking alone, which I hate. In pre-Covid days Friday was my day to hop on the bus, go to M & S Food for a coffee and a few things, then have a browse round Next and other shops, then into Sainsbury's for things they didn't have in my delivery. Usually met a friend or two, so would have a chat. The simple pleasures of life.....

So today I will put some washing on, empty the dishwasher, clean the kitchen and bathrooms, tidy round, then crosswords and puzzle pages in the newspaper, read my book and get on with my knitting. Chinese curry tonight in honour of Chinese New Year.

Glad Mick is ok, had to go back and read yesterday's thread to find out.

Thoughts are with all those who have worries or carez; have the best day you can.

Urmstongran Fri 29-Jan-21 09:19:53

You are more than welcome here YorkLady. It’s always nice to welcome newbies ?. We do like to know each day where you are posting from (kind of as a reminder as it helps us fix each other better!) and what your weather is for the day. And because you are new we do all need to know the value of your house ...
??

Gagagran Fri 29-Jan-21 09:18:46

Aldom I remember Mick started the "Good Morning" thread some years ago - I think when the Saga forum closed down and he came over from that. Think I'm right - does anyone else remember that too?

Alygran Fri 29-Jan-21 09:17:57

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It is dry today so I’m hoping to get out for a walk later. It will have to be on the lanes as the fields will be too muddy after all the rain yesterday and overnight.
My trip to the dentist was uneventful. All well organised and very routine now. Seeing the hygienist a couple of weeks.
Yesterday afternoon I had a sparrow hawk in the garden. It must have caught something as there is a pile of feathers on the lawn.
DGS’s 12th birthday today. Sadly I can’t be there to see him.
Hope hospital appointments go well for Auntieflo and Marydoll.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.

grannysyb Fri 29-Jan-21 09:09:40

Good morning all, brightening up here, hope to go for walk later. Have just had a very frustrating experience, the line to my surgery permanently engaged, when I finally got through all appointments taken. I burst into tears and got a phone appointment for next week! Thankfully a sensitive receptionist. I've had urticaria for about four months now and it woke me up again in the middle of the night, getting very fed up. Hope Marydolls friends daughter is recovering. Hope anyone else with troubles has a better day.

YorkLady Fri 29-Jan-21 09:09:19

Morning all, what a lovely positive thread, may I join?
Sunny here but the best news is that the OH goes for the vaccine on Sunday.
He’s only been out of the house for hospital visits (surgery then chemo) since last March. Maybe normality will be returning in some form ?
To celebrate I am making banana bread. Haven’t made it before despite it being everyones lockdown bake.

Urmstongran Fri 29-Jan-21 08:57:25

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it dry and a high of 8°C is forecast. I fancy going out for a long walk. I will ring my walking buddy later to see if she’d like to join me. She lives alone and likes to get out every day for her mental health. She has zillions of friends so at this late stage may well have already made arrangements. If she is not available I will just go with Himself. Hehe!
?

Thinking of Marydoll and hoping her hospital appointment goes well. Fingers crossed here too Sar53 as you await biopsy results for your daughter after her op yesterday. Such an anxious time for you both. Gagagran it’s encouraging to hear the good news about your Covid warriors. Beechnut I hope you enjoy the SOAP dish later. It’s a very popular meal within our family group. Mind you we are a very small family!

Thanks for opening up grandMattie you are a star ? good job no-one is relying on this dormouse. I’d have to start a Good Afternoon thread.

Fridays will forever and always remind me of gillybob. Such a lovely, bubbly person. She must be going through such a tough time to stay away so long. I miss her.

Hope Friday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. A train has just pulled in, going to Liverpool Line Street station. Remember the days we could all go somewhere to wander, shop, eat and drink? Soon I hope. Soon. x

Anniebach Fri 29-Jan-21 08:57:08

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Jaxjacky Fri 29-Jan-21 08:37:55

Good morning all from a soggy S. Hants, it poured again last night. Thanks for opening gM, hoping Marydoll gets on ok at hospital and Mick is back when ready. Missing Grandmafrench and still thoughts with Travelsofar.
Another Friday, I’ve just showered and my hair, which was cropped last summer, looking quite good, is now a mop. Never mind, it’s only us to see it. I bought some venison grills this week, so that’s tonight’s dinner. It’s just started to rain again, I’ll try and get out for a walk later in between showers.
Have a gentle day all.

Greyduster Fri 29-Jan-21 08:37:29

Good morning all GNs and glad to hear that Mick is okay even if he can’t be with us at present. I agree with Gingster; it’s not quite right without him, but thanks to those starting us off in the mornings. We have the makings of a clear but cold day in South Yorkshire; the sun is shining, so, as we have not been able to get out for a couple of days, we are going for a walk. I have an overwhelming desire to sit on a big rock in the middle of the moors and listen to the wind and the sheep, but it is not going to happen anytime soon☹️, so to the local woods it will be instead. And no doubt there will be mud. Have the best day you can folks and stay safe.

baubles Fri 29-Jan-21 08:35:47

Morning all, we’ve had rain overnight in my part of S Lanarkshire so most of the snow has gone thank goodness.

grandMattie I worked in optics for many years and one of the first things I was told very firmly was that glasses are for drinking from, what we wear are spectacles. To this day I cannot call them glasses, they will always be specs to me.

Hope your poor mouth feels better Grammaretto. Hope all is well with your DD Sars, and I’m holding Marydoll’s friend in my thoughts.

Sheep I love hearing your stories about your animals, my limited farming knowledge comes from years of listening to the Archers.

I’m supposed to be meeting a neighbour for a walk and a chat this afternoon, I’m not holding my breath though as she’s called off three times already.

Hope everyone has a peaceful day.

ginny Fri 29-Jan-21 08:29:21

Good Morning. My part of N. Bucks is warmer and drier today.
gagagran glad your family seem to be recovering. and Sar I hope your Dd has good news.
Thinking of all with worries and ill health.

I’ve no idea what happened on Wednesday to do with the member who lives not far from me but just want to say that I hope she is ok and will soon be back.

My smile yesterday was a long ‘phone call from DGS ( 18).

We may decide to have a take away this evening otherwise basically another ‘ditto’ day.

Hope you all find a ? today.

NanKate Fri 29-Jan-21 08:23:27

Good morning grandMattie and All. Thanks for deputising gM it is a relief to know Mick is ok.

Grey but warmer here in South Bucks.
Thinking of Marydoll who will no doubt entertain the hospital staff. Hope all goes well for her. Have remembered her friend’s daughter and baby in my prayers ?

Have at last got a date for my jab on 8 Feb, will be so relieved to feel I am at last moving forward and will be able to hug my DS and 2 DGSs in early May I, like so many, miss my family desperately.

Nothing planned, well there is no surprise in that.

Aldom Fri 29-Jan-21 08:22:11

Started, not stated.

Aldom Fri 29-Jan-21 08:20:53

Good morning everyone. Good wishes to Mick
Thinking of your friend's pregnant granddaughter Marydol Hoping for the best for her, and her baby.
I've been thinking about the Good Morning thread and wondering if anyone can tell me when and how it stated.
I'm feeling very pleased this morning as for the first time since the start of the pandemic I have been able to get a Sainsbury delivery slot. grin

Grammaretto Fri 29-Jan-21 08:20:34

That is a great piece of kit Elizabeth1 . Well done on your long trip!
I was relieved to read that your DD has safely had her op. Sar

I feel for you Viridianshock

Gingster Fri 29-Jan-21 08:15:36

Good morning from Essex where the sky is light with pale shades of pinkish blue.

I’m glad Mick is ok and hope he will be back soon, it’s not the same without him.

GG I hope that long sleep did you the world of good. ????.

Sar fingers crossed for your daughter ?

Marydoll I hope your appointment goes well. And prayers for your friends GD and baby. ?

Urms we had your SOAP dinner and it was delish. It lasted us for 2 meals as the Pork steaks were quite large. ?

DS1 has to travel by train to London today. He’s been working from home but has to go up for a big meeting. I’m a bit concerned for him ?. He is our bubble and does our weekly shop for us.

DH went to the dentist yesterday. There seems to be lots of dental concerns at the moment. I suppose because people haven’t been able to get appointments.

sheep/cattle I can understand your worries of catching the virus, when you have such a lot of work to do. I’m sure you’ll take all precautions.

Can’t believe it’s friday AGAIN! Where does the time go? They say ‘Time flies, when you’re having fun’ ?

Best wishes to all ??

Lins1066 Fri 29-Jan-21 08:15:01

Good morning Mick and all from a wet S Welsh coast.
Zoom U3A Book Club this morning, a discussion about The Salt Path.
This evening we have booked a Zoom Murder Myster, should be fun
I need to ring the butcher shortly he delivers on a Friday morning.
Thinking of those for whom life is a struggle and of course our missing posters.
Stay safe.

Viridian Fri 29-Jan-21 08:02:34

Good morning from a very blustery south Cornwall. Got a 5-year-old arriving at 9.30, which I'm looking forward to. Beginning to feel isolated so have decided to get back to a book project I've neglected since Covid, and to write regularly, and also to plan my allotment for the year. I can't get to it but my sons can take over till I get my hips replaced.

The rat man is back today, hopefully for the final time. I've had nightmares, literally, from it all, being in such a small space. My (younger) neighbour has been the same and is debunking to her sister's for the weekend, very wise.

Thanks for standing in grandMattie and see you soon we hope Mick. The best of days to everyone else.

Elizabeth1 Fri 29-Jan-21 08:02:03

My new piece of equipment to help keep us from stagnating.

Elizabeth1 Fri 29-Jan-21 07:59:23

Good morning everyone from a damp, dark east coast of Fife. I meant to look out for the wolf full moon last night but I forgot to due to being extremely tired after a session on my motor Mede it’s brilliant for helping me to exercise my arms and legs. I had a really good sleep too. I only woke up twice must get cycling today again. All three of us had great fun setting the machine up to the correct speed etc I cycled to the Algarve where I’ve actually been in real life. Wonder where I’ll cycle to today. Take care everyone hope you all soon get your letters to go for your vaccine. My dh has received his appointment. I went shopping on line yesterday and ordered him a bottle of his favourite elixir for Valentine’s Day the bottle will be personalised with his name on it. I don’t usually bother with Valentine’s Day I think it’s a rip off but because on the whole he’s been so helpful and supportive these past few months he deserves a wee treat.even although he’s been mr grumpy at times.

We’re all getting nearer to springtime so look out for these new shoots coming up and the variety of birds which return to enjoy the gardens and any food or nuts given to them at this time of the year we’ve already got a wee blackbird coming to our back step each morning looking for food have a good Friday everyone virtual hugs all around smile

Pittcity Fri 29-Jan-21 07:52:10

Good morning from a brightening and mild Colchester. Rain forecast on and off.
Weekend shop at Lidl, laundry and ironing. Getting fish and chips delivered tonight.
Much love xx

brook2704 Fri 29-Jan-21 07:48:00

Good morning everyone from Inverness, it started snowing again here yesterday afternoon and continued overnight. So now we’ve got fresh new snow over partially melted snow and ice so it’ll be very slippery outside. I’ve nothing planned today so will stay in this morning and see what it’s like outside this afternoon.
Yesterday when I was at the supermarket I bought some bright spring primula/primrose type flowers, they’re not really my favourite but I decided to plant them in a pot at the front to brighten up the doorstep. Anything to remind me that spring isn’t too far away really cheers me up
Thank you grandmattie for opening up today , best wishes to mick
Hoping the day is kind to everyone, especially those with worries and struggles whatever they are. Take care all whatever the day brings?

harrigran Fri 29-Jan-21 07:44:56

Good morning from a very damp NE.
We had torrential rain overnight.
Nice long Skype chat with the family last night. Younger GD played the violin and the piano for us, her music lessons continue online.
I can not believe how elder GD's hair has grown during lockdown, it is almost to her waist.
Nothing much going on today so perhaps catch up with the TV.
Thinking of poorly people and absentees.

s catch up with TV.
