Good Morning Friday, deputising for an absent Mick

Good morning from a dry E Kent. The full moon woke me up through the gaps in the curtains.
Nothing on again today. Got my sunnies the other day, and had my regular ones adjusted. It’s so nice to have properly fitted ? glasses.
Reminds me of a boy in one of my French classes. I commented that I was going to have “new spectacles”. He very tactfully told me that “in English, the are called glasses “ ?
Changing the sheets and probably salmon for dinner.
Marydoll, I’m praying with all my heart for your pregnant friend.
I hope today will bring some ☀️and ?into your hearts and souls. Stay safe.

It's just nice to chat, Urmston and you know how I love to chat. ?

Urmstongran Fri 29-Jan-21 20:51:18

I’m sure I’m not the only one on here that’s enjoying the way in these unprecedented times that this GM thread has meandered over into the afternoon and evening! Sometimes it’s nice just to extend our chats.

I can remember the days when we’d have shut up shop by noon.

Callistemon Marydoll I have a friend does the same, I always feel obliged to acknowledge them even though some aren’t that funny (to me).

Marydoll Fri 29-Jan-21 20:19:34

I have four ex colleagues in a WhatsApp group and the videos can go on until late at night. I have to put my phone on silent.

Stilllearning Fri 29-Jan-21 20:16:10

A bit glad to hear you haven’t heard anything today Marydoll, the family have been in my mind all day. Hope your hospital visit was okay.

Callistemon Fri 29-Jan-21 20:12:26

Are we allowed to ask about Michael?
Mick - I hope you're ok and will be back tomorrow.

Have I got a smartphone, then, Urmstongran?
Who knew (not me!) Although I know it's smarter than me.

Callistemon Fri 29-Jan-21 20:09:41

The latest one was something I saw years ago, it must still be doing the rounds! I laughed the first time grin

Some are new and very funny, though, and I do forward them.

Marydoll Fri 29-Jan-21 19:56:49

Callistemon, I have a friend who sent me umpteen funny videos on What's App all through lockdown. They drive me to distraction!

Urmstongran Fri 29-Jan-21 19:53:24

I don’t have a smartphone so I can’t do WhatsApp!
?

Callistemon Fri 29-Jan-21 19:48:02

Oh, goodness, I can't keep up with WhatsApp family groups
Or my friend who wings on everything she receives from everyone (just the jokey ones).

Marydoll Fri 29-Jan-21 19:45:27

No news on that poor young woman. The obstetrician was going to make a decision about the baby today.
I'm hoping no news is good news.

Marydoll Fri 29-Jan-21 19:43:11

Who actually knows dear friends! Mixed messages, about what / who can be mentioned . It changes with the wind! I

How do we know who is banned? Don't we all have secret What's App groups. ?
That is a joke, by the way! ?

Callistemon Fri 29-Jan-21 19:38:34

But I'm not allowed to ask about gillybob although I worry how she is
Or jinglbellsfrocks who spoke for us all when she offered to put flowers on behalf of all Gransnetters at the place of a terrorist attack in France

Or other more recent banned or suspended members?

Who makes these rules?
Not Justine I'm sure.

sad

Callistemon Fri 29-Jan-21 19:34:48

I'm allowed to mention you, then Marydoll eg as how are you or I saw a tricky maths problem on Facebook today.

Doodle Fri 29-Jan-21 18:48:36

Meant to say I hope you are ok Marydoll. Any news on your friends granddaughter?

Doodle Fri 29-Jan-21 18:47:33

Ah but Marydoll what if you don’t know who’s been banned or suspended because GNHQ won’t let anyone say who they are. There was a thread deleted the other day about a poster who was neither banned or suspended but it got deleted because someone asked if anyone had heard from her.
Who knows what these new rules are if we are not allowed to discuss it.

Marydoll Fri 29-Jan-21 17:29:20

We are allowed to mention grans by name. We are not allowed to mention those who have been banned or suspended. That's why the Kitchen posts were deleted.
Neither are we allowed to start threads about missing posters, as its deemed intrusive, according to GNHQ.
However I think there is nothing wrong with general mentions, as on this thread.

Gingster Fri 29-Jan-21 15:31:21

Grandma french I’m another who has missed something here. Are we not supposed to mention grans by name? What a shame to upset you like this. Frustrating and annoying. You are a lovely lady who always has a good word for everyone.
What is wrong with some people? Don’t let them drag you down ?

LauraNorder Fri 29-Jan-21 13:49:27

How lovely to see the return of the lady from the south of France, who has for a long time brightened my mornings with shared sunshine, beach walks and lively encouragement.
Point well made lovely lady who resides in sunny climes, don’t be upset by stupidity of others, you are obviously well liked and respected on here.

Said I was having a Chinese curry tonight in honour of Chinese New Year, but have just looked at the calendar and it is next month! Must have been because I read in the paper yesterday that this time last year at the start of Covid that all over China people were travelling to spend the Chinese New Year with their families. (And spreading the virus).

Gagagran Thank you for taking the time to answer my query regarding the origins of the Good Morning thread. Is there anyone else who can add to the information, please.

brook2704 Fri 29-Jan-21 12:51:07

A very warm welcome yorklady hope you enjoy this thread ?

Borrheid55 Fri 29-Jan-21 12:33:16

Hoping Marydoll gets a good report from hospital!
Nothing much to report today, all quiet if somewhat soggy in Kent.
Good health to those that are under the weather and stay safe everyone!

YorkLady Fri 29-Jan-21 12:30:49

Urmstongran

You are more than welcome here YorkLady. It’s always nice to welcome newbies ?. We do like to know each day where you are posting from (kind of as a reminder as it helps us fix each other better!) and what your weather is for the day. And because you are new we do all need to know the value of your house ...
??

Thanks for the posting tips urmstongran.
Please pop round for a coffee and we can do a valuation together.. banana bread is in the oven ?

GrannyOwl5 Fri 29-Jan-21 11:58:30

Just skidding in to have the opportunity to sau good morning everyone from north Kent where it is grey and wet.

Just returned from a brisk walk and am now drying out with a coffee and a purring cat on a knee.

Hope everyone has a good day and that all appointments go well and poorly people improve during the day

Our poster with the poorly foot from foreign parts - deep breaths; in 123 hold 123 out 123 ?

Stay safe
