Well there you have an example of how people are hounded out of GN. Attack someone on the same basis whatever the subject of the thread, make it personal and pretend not to know you are doing it. It's not only bad for discussion it's simply rude and childish. I think some posters owe biba70 an apology but I won't hold my breath.
biba70 hope you are OK. In my opinion anyone who thinks the UK is fine at the moment and we are not up shit creek without a paddle is living in cloud cuckoo land (either that or they support the sort of politics I'm not allowed to mention but which flourish in the situation we are facing!)

It seems to me that some posters get 'bees in their bonnets' and become sort of 'stuck in a groove' (for want of a better description.)
Is that what leads to a developing impatience on the forums in general? In real life people would just tend to avoid people that they know irritates them. Is that not possible on here?

Actually Biba maybe a temporary retirement and a period of reflection maybe just the ticket. You can always return.

Do you trawl the internet looking for the very worst to post day after day? Even the good things that happen here get turned on their head to be doom-laden and pessimistic.

If anyone demurs then they are reported and presumably it is claimed that their responses are affecting your health etc - so why continue to start thread after thread if it affects you so badly?

Don't go, biba. But try to stop running the UK down and people may not retaliate about your own country. I, for one, love my country regardless of all it's faults, as I know you love yours.

But what happened to biba on this thread is what happens to her on just about every thread she posts on. And the usual suspects leapt in to attack her.

If she made what seemed to be a comment that didn't quite fit with the topic, why didn't people just ignore it?

It's deliberate provocation and if other posters express a certain degree of exaspertion, posters are presumably reported even if the riposte is not a personal attack,

Deliberately starting provocative threads and inviting criticism, then reporting those who disagree is a form of bullying, insidious but intentional.

I had a post deleted for saying that was a selfish post literally those words and yet when I was called a wicked old witch the poster of those words, just carried on

I have to make an observation and would like others opinions without naming any names ..... all this started with the over protection of one poster who constantly revved up drama I had NEVER noticed it before Maybe I m wrong and I just missed it before

Meanwhile GNHQ please be reasonable, lift the ban on a very popular, decent and articulate poster who has a slim dog.

The country is massively divided at the moment- and I imagine it is normal for this to be reflected here on GN- certainly on some threads.

my only comment. What was so wrong about it?
Was it really that provocative that it should have led to this furore and personal attacks? I don't truly do not think so.

My comments are never ever anti Great Britain- but what is being done to it, currently, by a small minority and a Governement that has shamefully lied all the way, ever since Johnson and ERG took over.

So the comment I made yesterday was fairly simple and not at all, in any way shape or form, provocative. But some pounced, as they always do- and turned it into something it was never meant to be.

People are on GN for all sorts of reasons. For some is to pass time, to find friendhsip and sympathy, to chat, and to get empathy in hard times. To share info on their hobbies, and advice in all sorts of situations. And that is wonderful.

For me however, it is to discuss what is going on 'back home' - the country where we lived for so long (Oh was not born there, he was 2 when they arrived) and where our family lives, where our income comes from after we gave our work our all, where we always intended to return after our job was done here (looking after my very elderly parents).

When every single comment or observation, or discussion, or argument, is not followed by counter discussion, but personal attacks and 'ah but you were not born here and you live elsewhere', on a repeated basis- then yes, it does become hounding, bullying and totally discriminatory. I am (we are) very upset about what is going on in the UK at present, and how divided it has become. Anyone who disputes the fact it is hugely divided at the moment, is totally delusional. It means my family and friends are suffering of this, and that our future, as a family, has been turned on its head in a way we could never anticipate.

I realise there is a story in the background about someone being banned. I have no idea who, and why and the context- and my post had nothing to do with this.

It is clear these personal attacks will continue- and there is no point in even trying anymore. I will not flounce- but I will leave - because there is no future here. No possibility to discuss what is happening intelligently and fairly- and any attempt will always result in the same.

It is a pity- it is quite shameful really, and sad. But it actually affects my health and my sleep- and upsets me beyond anything any of you will imagine- to have my place of birth and current abode just thrown back at me instead of intelligent debate and discussion. No point at all.

trisher is spot on - there isn’t a political agenda. Deleted posts on political thread have been deleted for being offensive to other posters rather than their opposing political views. Racist posts are thankfully, always deleted.

Surely GNHQ doesn't watch and read each thread and post, I may be wrong. Perhaps if posters didn't keep reporting posts, disagreements would just run their course, just a thought.

I have to say that it is brilliant that this thread hasn't turned into the proverbial 'bun fight' and can't, therefore, be deleted as such!!

The problem in my opinion is that GNHQ moderators are not neutral and have their own agenda and side with certain posters in their views. I have noticed that any criticism of the EU is quickly deleted but some really nasty posts about the PM and the Government stand.
