I simply don’t believe maw would flounce, sorry. She might leave but it wouldn’t be a flounce.

The changing face of Gransnet?
(1001 Posts)I am a 'lockdown-joiner' to this forum, welcoming the opportunity join in with others who are similarly 'shut inside'.
I have been wondering whether people have found that the site has changed in any way over the last year?
Themes/quantity of posts/membership/patience/tolerance?
Just curious!
I'm with Lucca, I have disagreed with posters on here, but most of us seem to be in agreement that the Gransnet rules lack clarity. Also, if people are fed up/bored with this thread, nobody is forcing them to read it!
This thread will soon run its course (1000 posts) and that will be it - just as the one about Jings did, where there was no reinstatement.
Both Biba and Maw have flounced many times, had multiple usernames, and previously been banned.
GN is a commercial website - we either like it or lump it.
I'm not bored, y'all are most entertaining.
But I will explain my comment.
In every community, online or otherwise, a group dynamic will form and people will align with or take different roles within it.
Despite the rules that are in place at the formation of or in place on the joining of the community, eventually the members get comfortable enough to attempt some kind of 'coup' - they want to change the terms and conditions to better suit the community they perceive. They will invariably support this proposed change by using the evidence presented by the experiences of the people in their own cliques. They demand that things evolve, and when they don't or they repeatedly receive an answer they don't like instead of looking at their own contribution to the discomfort, they just get louder - believing that protest will win the day. It's rather a romantic notion.
What actually happens is that the people running these sites, usually free to members, will realise that no one is clicking on the adverts, everyone is arguing, no one wants to moderate the mess and it's not a 'community' any more, it's a behemoth of unpleasantness and partition populated by a bunch of keyboard guerrillas. I becomes non viable as a commercial enterprise, which it ALWAYS is.
Hence the members, in asserting what they perceive to be right and just ( which wasn't a problem when they ticked the box and signed up, having read the T&Cs), build a huge hill, on which the site ( or the communal part of it) eventually dies.
Oh and never underestimate the lurkers, who can form up to 70% of site traffic. Lurkers love a report button and they can press it with absolute anonymity.
So, IMO, as GN have repeatedly stated their position on this, those of you who continue to fight, are fighting a losing battle and building a burial ground for GN.
You didn't have to hang around to be goaded though!
There were pages and pages.
MawBe did get ( I think 2week ) suspension on the
Flying@&*^%#€handbag thread. Once again we were all being goaded on that thread.
Just found 20 'seniors' posting forums. I hadn't realised there were so many.
Nothing is exhausted until it has been resolved one way or another
It hasn’t even been acknowledged let alone resolved
It does not bother me nor am I bored. Just to many threads to wade through now. I am certainly not telling others to stop posting, carry on as much as you like.

^Well said NellG 32 pages/779 posts. The subject is now exhausted, time for this thread to stop^
I’ve never understood why some posters feel the need to tell others to stop posting on a particular thread.
Just leave the thread if you’re bored
Or if there’s a particular reason why you feel others shouldn’t comment further, have the courtesy to state that reason.
I was just about to post, but you took the words out of my mouth, as it were, janeainsworth. It’s easy enough to just walk away, or ‘hide’ the thread - but, although there have been some responses from GNHQ, various matters seem unresolved to a number of GNers. So the thread has not run its course.

I agree Lucca, I would like to see the thread continue until the matter of draconian moderation has been resolved and an amnesty for all is put in place.
Many on here who rarely agree on politics or other issues are in agreement that the banning of a poster who has not broken the law of the land is simply wrong.
Ain’t that the truth ! I’ve agreed with at least three people with whom I’ve often had little verbal spats !

And that's good advice for everyone, whatever the thread, whatever the poster, yes?
I’ve just been wondering how this banning system works.
I’ve seen from comments on here that the stage before is a final warning and I guess that any poster would have to have had a number of posts deleted for some transgression or other, possibly going back over a year or so.
Also I suppose some deleted posts are deemed to be worse than others.
I guess it’s just a cumulative effect.

All you have to do is stop reading it if it bothers you. If other people feel the need for it to continue then it will.
I apologise publicly for reacting to the goading so many months ago. I have not heard a word from GNHQ about remaining on the final warning list for life. Have I not done my penance, apologised and happy to start afresh?
Lucca I understood Kalu's remark the same way as you did! I do not think she meant it that way.
Well I've had a rap over the knuckles and my comment deleted. Which, on reflection, was an ill-considered remark, for which I sincerely apologise.
I genuinely didn't mean to be bullying. I suppose like others I feel so very strongly about this latest ban, but unlike others, I went a bit too far. Sorry for causing offence to anyone

I’d like it to stop when posters are ready to stop !

Trisher I am not a member of any club or gang on GN but would support the harsh decision of any member being banned completely.
I supported Jings banning, I support MawBe’s banning. That is my personal decision to make, not forcing another poster to make. Those are the two that I know of.
You have stated you don’t care enough to bother, fair enough, I wouldn’t dream of challenging you on your personal view. Possibly any gang/club member, rallying for support would though.
Kalu do you mean you are in favour of maw being banned ?

It's just another long running argument. It'll all blow over.
This thread is turning into the hill on which Gransnet will eventually die.
Another rule made up on the hoof, as far as I can tell.
I'm going to get a rap over the knuckles myself in a minute - watch and learn, trisher
Maybe some of the 'in' references come from those.
Not so much in-references as trying to let other posters know who had been banned, I think, without naming names which is Not Allowed as we were told when someone was asking after another poster last week.
