All is forgiven! ??
Good morning everyone. Sorry I’m late, not very good night.

DH had his shit yesterday and went to bed early with a sore arm and headache. He then proceeded to fidgety et all night. Got up at 330 for a hot drink and eventually came back to bed. Naturally, I was worried and took ages to go back to sleep once I’d warmed him up and established it wasn’t serious.
Photo of new quilt. DGS has approved...
Nothing on again today - cleaning, some sewing, Spanish homework..thoughts and prayers go to the sorrowful, in pain, in difficulties and everyone on this kind thread. Stay safe. X

Good morning all...grandMattie your type made me laugh out loud..which I'm glad of because feeling really apprehensive about my dental appointment later..
Keep safe everyone ?

Typo not type!!!

Gagagran Mon 01-Feb-21 07:03:24

Morning Mattie and all who follow. It is a bit less cold here on the south coast 6.0c at 6am.

Sorry about your disturbed night Mattie - maybe a power nap later ? I find the after lunch one most refreshing!

It's laundry day here so that puts something on the agenda for a welcome change. I had a long chat with DS yesterday and that did me good. He, like me, has been struggling a bit this past few weeks but got out on his bike on Friday, which blew the cobwebs away for him. Think my cycling days are long gone though and my hip and knee problem does not encourage much walking . Who said old age is not for sissies? They were right!

Hope the good news on the vaccination numbers is keeping spirits up and hope alive that we shall get through this. It will not be long before we are called for our second jabs at this rate. Well done to all concerned on a sterling effort.

Keep safe everyone and thinking of all those of us who are struggling. sunshine

Oh dear. I’ve been castigated by DC before. Apologies ?

NotAGran55 Mon 01-Feb-21 07:05:00

Good morning from West Berkshire.
Always good to start the day spitting your coffee out with a good laugh ? Thank you GM I hope your day is better than the night and your DH is right as rain now.

Sad to see that Mick is still MIA .

I’m doing an extra shift at the food bank today which I love, and this is the first Monday morning I will be up and out since last March and it feels fantastic.

Keep safe everyone.

Beechnut Mon 01-Feb-21 07:05:45

Good Morning everyone and a pinch punch from Severnside.
It looks dry outside so I’ll do some washing today.
That will be clothes and pots and pans

Is that the whole quilt Mattie? It looks lovely.

Stay warm and safe all ?

grandMattie Mon 01-Feb-21 07:11:32

Hahaha Beech! I’m fast but not that fast...

kittylester Mon 01-Feb-21 07:11:45

Good morning all from a perishing North Leicestershire.

Not a lot happening here today.

Sar53 Mon 01-Feb-21 07:29:46

Good morning from a cold, damp Essex by the sea. At least the wind has died down.
Housework and making a tea loaf is the order of the day here.
I think the stress of home schooling 3 girls is getting to DD1, all I can do is offer words of encouragement.
Take care and stay safe everyone xx

Morning all! Love the cheeriness on here. SO glad we've moved into February. I have one target for today and that's to do a sleeve alteration on a new fleece I bought. It's been sitting staring at me for a few days now. I so dislike sewing. Ugh! However....executive decision from this bed says it will be done today. Promises, promises....... Have a good day everyone. Hope many arms continue to be jabbed.

Dwmxwg Mon 01-Feb-21 07:31:00

Good morning from slightly milder north Surrey.
I was flagging by the end of my shift last night. Colleague suggested an inhalation of boiled onion and garlic which I tried, not sure if it was that but did manage 6 hours sleep. I have a headache and no voice this morning. I have booked a test, just to put my mind at rest, but hope and suspect will be negative.
Otherwise will be keeping my distance from DH and resting up.
I do hope we see Mick back here soon and hope all is well with him.
So sad to see Captain Tom is in hospital with Coronavirus.
Pinch punch, wishing all a good monday

GrannyGravy13 Mon 01-Feb-21 07:31:57

Good morning all,

I seem to have had a reaction to the medication for my chest infection, have been sleeping on and off since Friday pm, hopefully speak to someone at GP surgery later.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Good morning all from Derbyshire. Cold with sunshine forecast.

Thanks for starting our day with a smile grandMattie, and the quilt looks great.

SiL replaced the yard tap yesterday and hey presto we now have water again. The girls ? were super happy as DD opened some new grass up for them - they didn't want to come in last night. While I was at the field I picked vegetables - leeks, parsnips and sprouts. I have far too many and need to give some away, but the family aren't very interested in them so I'll have to find other people who like them.

Not much planned today. I keep meaning to start a new book, but spend too much time on gransnet instead!

Hope today is a good day for all.

Elizabeth1 Mon 01-Feb-21 07:33:47

Good morning everyone from a wet and cold east coast of Fife. The sun is just begining to peek through the curtains.
I wonder if we’ll have bright sunshine today like we did yesterday. So much so that I had to pull the blinds down while sitting in the conservatory

My central heating went off during the night says my dh no wonder I felt cold. What did we do without our heating in days gone by ? I remember putting my clothes on under the blankets well I don’t miss those days.

Here’s to a good day everyone keep safe lots of love ?

Viridian Mon 01-Feb-21 07:36:06

Thanks for the unintended giggle grandMattie. Good morning from a drizzly south Cornwall. Today I have new neighbours moving in above the next door cafe (we all live above shops on this road), apparently a student couple in their late 20's. I'll drop a Welcome card through their door later. I love living near students, with their energy and enthusiasm. The last couple were lovely - I think the young woman missed her gran and took to me right away, ha ha.

Otherwise I'm off to Specsavers, and as my little town beach is just a few metres away from them I'll go and do some scavenging of old pottery afterwards.

Have the best day you can, everyone.

Kalu Mon 01-Feb-21 07:40:35

Good morning everyone from a frosty Glasgow.

No apologies necessary GM. I had a much needed giggle. ?

No plans for today but I may look at the to do list for inspiration. Watched a lovely film last night, Penguin Bloom. Worth watching. A FaceTime with DD2 in Australia to wish her happy 43rd birthday! Gosh, that went by in no time.

Have a pleasant day all.

Jaxjacky Mon 01-Feb-21 07:50:58

Good morning all from a dull S Hants, hope Mick is just having a rest. Went out for a quick, brisk walk yesterday in the sleety rain, today should be dry. Final bits and bobs are in to finish off the kitchen, very happy with it, just need visitors now! No plans today, really ought to hoover, DH off to work today, first for ages, so he’s happy.. have a gentle day all.

Pittcity Mon 01-Feb-21 07:55:14

Good morning February from a grey, damp, cold Colchester.
Thanks for the early giggle Mattie ?
A bit of ironing and a short walk to Lidl are today's highlights.
Much love to all and virtual hugs for those who are under the weather xx .

Marydoll Mon 01-Feb-21 07:56:42

Good morning all, it blooming freezing her, its -6°C. Your tyo made me laugh, GM. If you have a bad night, someone else can start the thread off, please don't feel under pressure to do so. I do like monochrome, the quilt will look stunning when it is finished.

I have some better news about my friend's granddaughter. She is back home from hospital and managed to speak to my friend for a few minutes on the phone yesterday.
She will go back into hospital on Friday for a C section to deliver her baby. My friend is overwhelmed at how many people are praying for her. Please keep her in your prayers. Thank you all.

I'm looking forward to my Zoom lesson with Dollie today, despite it being tiring. She loves to be teacher and teach me her phonics. ( Role reversal was a method I used to use when I was teaching). Trying to reinforce a tricky word last week, I asked her what it was. You are the student gran, you should know! , said Dollie. ?

Well for dinner yesterday, we had.....seafood risotto! I couldn't find the clams, but I did get rid of the dead food and melted and refrozen ice lollies in the freezer! I hate when DH is proven right. ?

Sending good wishes to Susan and Bellasnanna, despite what the rules are about naming posters, who seem to be missing. They are our friends, we can ask after them without speculating what is wrong. The same goes for Mick
I'm glad to see you posting again, Grandmabatty.
I fear some of us may be on the north step today for comments made elsewhere about GN. I cannot live with injustice and unfairness.

Take care all who are not in a good place, mentally or physically, wishing you a gentle day. I hope the temperature rises, so that I can have a short walk. All being well, I can drive again tomorrow! Who would have thought it was four weeks ago I was in hospital.

Litterpicker Mon 01-Feb-21 07:59:32

Good morning from West Sussex. Sky mid-grey. Tea & toast came early this morning as DH is going for his sh*t first thing. grandMattie thanks for the ?.
Five family birthdays this month - in order, DD3, DGD2, DD1, DH and DGD1. Two pairs share birthdays. Need to get organised with cards and presents and baking. All except DH’s will be left on doorsteps when the days come ?. Maybe a garden party will be possible in the summer - here’s hoping.
GG13 and Dwmxwg hope you both feel better soon.

Viridian Mon 01-Feb-21 08:00:43

Lovely news about the mum and baby Marydoll. Thank you.

ginny Mon 01-Feb-21 08:05:41

Good Morning all. It is looking dull and murky outside so thanks for the ?*grandMattie*.

I’m fairly confident that DH will start decorating the spare bedroom today. I’ll keep him supplied with tea and cake.

Will have a quick walk around the block to deliver a birthday card to a friend. A few other household jobs and the I’m looking forward to starting on my sewing project.

Hope you all find ( another) ? today.

NanKate Mon 01-Feb-21 08:06:41

Morning grandMattie and All. Thanks for deputising ?

Another having a bad night here. It’s all my own fault, I think I have found my gran’s cottage on Google Instant street view, I thought it would have been demolished. I will take a screenshot and send it to my older sister in Italy for confirmation. Well that set off my brain and I had memories flooding in which stopped me from getting a decent night’s sleep.

Grey and chilly here in South Bucks today.

Gaga I’m still waiting for my FIRST jab - only 4 days to go.

Viridian I put a Welcome card through our new neighbours door and so a new friendship has started with our lovely young neighbours. I like having friends of all ages.

Just Qigong for me today.

Gingster Mon 01-Feb-21 08:08:26

Good morning and it’s good to have a giggle early on GM. I did the same thing a while back when I messaged my very posh friend , saying ‘so sorry I can’t get to you for coffee as the A12 is sh-t both ways.’ Meant to be SHUT! I didn’t realise until I read it back much later on.

GG sorry to hear you’re still poorly. ?.

Sar I think a lot of parents are struggling with the home schooling. My lovely DIL is at the end of her tether with it. She read out a problem her 6 yr Old was faced with. It was tricky. First read the question which was lengthy, then understand what to do, and then solve it. On the other hand my DD’s 5 yr Old is loving her ‘work.’ Can’t get enough of it. Although there is only 13 months between them , the 6 yr old is an August birthday and the 5 yr Old is a September baby, so they are 2 school yrs apart. What a huge difference it makes.

I’m trying to plan a walk out with a dear friend sometime this week. We are looking at weather forecasts, and where it will be least muddy and also where to park the cars , as all the car parks are closed. A challenge!

Hope you all have an easy, relaxed, pleasant day.
(Where is that Mick? )
