A true gentleman. God bless him and his family. Sad news today.

The PM has asked for a clap for Captain Tom and all those he was raising money for, tonight at 6.00 this evening.

I'm so so sad to learn of Sir Captain Tom's passing. I was convinced he'd pull through. In my mind , "he just had to" He served his country from beginning to end. I'm sure his family are very proud of him, as am I. He'll never be forgotten, he was a true hero in every sense of the word. His legacy shall live on. ' Rest in peace Sir Cpt Tom, you deserve your rest.' we'll miss you.

I also agree cata5....I think it was wonderful that he was able to have his loving family with him in the hospital when he died.
Unfortunately my daughters beloved Grandma is now in a hospice dying and she's begged to be allowed in to hug and hold her and tell her how much she loves her even saying she'll pay to have a covid test , all to no avail. She's absolutely distraught.......

Yes, sad. He seemed to be a lovely old chap. But he was 100. He did very well!

suttonJ Wed 03-Feb-21 11:47:12

catta5...I was wondering exactly the same.

An inspirational man!

Our thoughts are with his family.

Aepgirl Wed 03-Feb-21 11:02:43

What an inspiration this man was (and still is). I’m going to say ‘Tomorrow will be a good day’ every night before I go to sleep.

However, I do wish people wouldn’t leave flowers outside his home - there are far better ways of showing respect. The flowers will fade and die, and begin to look so sad.

RIP Captain Sir Tom Moore. You were an inspiration and a true gentleman. You will never be forgotten by millions around the world. Sincere condolences to his family.

Sir Tom emerged to capture the nation's attention and admiration at precisely the right time - he raised the profile of our NHS when it was needed and with his own body and determination he battled to raise money - he was truly inspirational and leaves a wonderful legacy. May he rest in peace.

catta5 Wed 03-Feb-21 10:46:16

Yes sad news but can I ask/say how comes he was able to go on holiday over Christmas and how was his family allowed to be with him at the end when so many are denied this this at the end of their loved ones life

Mollygo Wed 03-Feb-21 10:37:40

RIP Captain Tom. You raised a lot of money and you raised a lot of spirits. You gave us all hope when you said “tomorrow will be a good day”. He was just the tonic we all needed. What a lovely, kind gentleman and such a wry sense of humour. I was more upset than I expected to be at the sad news yesterday. Sincere condolences to his family. thanks
