Princess Anne’s sitting room

Omg I can’t believe how scruffy and old fashioned her room is with all her money surely she could update it a little, it looks like a little old ladies house but maybe that’s a little unfair to old ladies.
I wouldn’t want to be her cleaner trying to dust all that clutter, I wonder does her mother take tea in that room.

Too cluttered and mismatched for me but she probably wouldn't like mine either.

I can't say it would be my taste but it looks comfortable and homely with all the couple's treasured things in it. What's wrong with that?

I used to have that suite,but I've had 3 since then. She obviously looks after her stuff.

Well, mine is rather like that but not quite so cluttered. We prefer a more traditional look. All the furniture we have is from a time when things were well made, dining table and chairs from about 1790s.

Too many mismatched rugs and rather full for me, on closer inspection, but really, in the grand scheme of things, does it matter? There's far more things to worry about in this world. If they like it, that's all that matters.

It looks comfortable and welcoming. People who like minimalist wouldn't like it, but no-one is asking them to.

Be honest, would you really expect Princess Anne to have grey crushed velvet and light up mirrors? I bet some of the furniture is worth a fortune, looks to me like a room used by someone who couldn't care less what others think.

I noticed that she seems to have bought her sofa and armchair in the same place as I - Ikea, though I didn't care for the floral covers so have self-coloured ones.

Exactly what I think a 'home' should be !

It's NOT Windsor Castle or Buck House - where the building might be 'of interest' to the general public who may perhaps pay for a tour around it.

It's her own personal 'family home' - anybody who wants to criticise her idea of comfort and practicality needs to butt-out and mind their own business .

I thought it looks lovely. I get fed up with seeing houses that look like furniture shops. Very uncomfortable. I have a deceased aunt who used to pull the cushions away before you dared lean back of them. To me that is not a home, but a showroom. I love houses that look lived in as long as they are clean. Well done Anne, lets hope you start a new comfortable fashion

She will have much grander & smarter rooms for entertaining and the likes.

Lordy, it's awful! Can't she nip down to Loaf and get a properly comfy sofa? The whole thing is hideous and more old-fashioned than my late Gran's! Anne is a year younger than me too. Good grief.

There's a hint about my living quarters there too.

Royal fans were delighted to catch a glimpse of the Princess's home and loved how 'normal' and 'homely' it looked.

I shouldn't have been surprised, but what took me aback was the numbered examination of every item in the room by the Daily Mail.

Yes, I was going to say, the only thing I'd get rid of would be the bright red numbers everywhere!

It's a lot tidier than my front room ... she's 70, she has a life, her room reflects who she is.

I can't believe some of the comments - drab, squalid, scruffy. So rude to criticise other people's taste - fine to say that it's not what you would have but not very nice to those of us who have rooms just like this!

I agree with BassGranny however Princess Anne's room was furnished there would have been criticism somewhere.
It's typical of her I think, no waste of cash keeping updated and all her favourite and comfortable things around. Just as well the Princess will not give a flying fig for the opinion of anyone on Gransnet or the readers of national newspapers.

More like the Daily Mail was delighted to have a chance to be able to poke and pry around a photo released of Princess Anne’s TV snug!
Oh what fun they must have had! All in the purposes of providing the information for us!
It’s just a good reminder of why I really don’t like the DM either online or on paper those veiled references and magnified itemized details.

I think the room looks very comfortable and lived in,the only thing I would change is either the patterned sofa & chair or the patterned wallpaper not both.

Perhaps she takes the idea of zero waste onboard and tries to live that way, rather than just paying it lip service.

At least it's lived in !!
