It's not though. There are people in this country who think the government could not work without a Queen or King at the helm. The very fact that our system of government relies on deference to someone who happens to have been born in a particular family is outdated and unfair. If they have no say in the decisions of government, what is the point of them being so integral to the system? Take them out of the loop.

It simple terms it just means that the Monarch’s thoughts /feelings /opinions can be considered & pondered on.

another interesting point Nell. She is of course Head of the Church of England. If you remember there was a lot of 'talk' about Charles' conduct and subsequent divorce at the time, as he will also become Head of the Church of England, when he becomes king.

Ironic I know when you consider it was the adulterous Henry V111 who broke away from the Catholic Church to divorce Katherine so he could marry Anne.

The Queen isn't revered in the C of E the way the Pope is revered in the Catholic Church; the Pope is regarded as the direct spiritual successor to Peter who Jesus referred too as his rock, on which He would build his church.

So in terms of her 'hierarchical' position in society I wouldn't say that members of the C of E have their spiritual lives governed by the Queen; unlike Roman Catholics who have their spiritual lives governed by the Pope.

Let them stick to ribbon cutting duties. Though Charles would probably want a servant to do the actual scissor handling.

That's true. That's why we all have a vote and elect someone to represent us in Government. A Monarch has no more right than me or you to have their views acted on. And if they are influencing the direction of government unduly - well, we've been there already on this thread, haven't we?

Do you not know that they are hands on regarding working on the Estate. & Prince Charle’s knowledge & involvement with young folks & placement for them to gain skills & jobs?

He started the Trust for vulnerable young people age 11yrs to 30Yrs of age who were unemployed or struggling at school to gain skills & Obtain employment

Assuming that's for me Bridgeit? Charles could have done any of those things without being heir to the throne.

I'm delighted they are good country people, good luck to them. I'm glad Charles uses some of his vast wealth to support young people. The workshops at Dumfries House in particular, are a splendid idea.

But he is Heir to the Throne, at this moment in time there’s not a lot that can be done to change that, who knows what it will be like in another 100years , not us for sure.

Not one single person living on this planet asked to be born.

And a president is paid a straightforward annual salary, usually with a small office and one official residence; the public is not expected to fund their extended family or maintain multiple homes.
