I find anti-royal threads very depressing. The antis are welcome to their views, but there is something so sour and spiteful about the way they’re expressed. Full of hate, where indifference would be enough.

I find pro royal love in threads very depressing. The pros are welcome to their views but there is something so sycophantic and puerile about the way they’re expressed . Full of empty adulation towards a shabby grubby bunch of people

I wonder if there was a family living down the street who had cheated, lied, manipulated and robbed people to make money, at the same time refusing to pay their council tax or indeed any other tax, would you be accused of being "sour and spiteful" or of "hating" them because you thought they should be held to account?

It's a post about what was uncovered a scoop the Guardian people have a right to know. When people thought the Queen was just a ceremonial HoS when in fact she has a say called Queens consent over a thousand laws has been changed concerning many areas not just her own interests.

People have a right to debate and conclude that the monarchy gets away with abusing public office for their own private gain that's how it's always been There could be changes getting rid of queen's consent and giving monarchy a fixed budget on what their actual needs are not letting them spend public money day in day week in week out out on their own private interests without nothing being said. It's that the institution of monarchy is wrong the Royals are just going along with it

I said it above Grandma70s, I don't hate anybody, although I do object to the institution of the monarchy and to be honest, the love-fest that their mere existence creates.

As for hateful threads, I'd recommend reading some of the Royalist-supporting threads that comment on Harry and Meghan. Now there's hatred.

Grany how do you know they have off-shore tax havens ? You have proof of this, not from Twitter please

I think it's fascinating that when you try to discover if the RF have actually given any money to charity you come up with lots of articles telling you how much has been raised because of their patronage- something it's impossible to prove of course.
I doubt if any donation they make equals the amount of tax they have avoided paying.

Well we know the Queen got exemption from a law keeping her embarrassing wealth from disclosure And we know they are exempt from some taxes And we now know they exempted themselves from taxes Balmoral that mean shopkeepers pay more tax They have exempted themselves from Freedom of Information. They use queen's consent to change laws to protect their own interests And have millions in off shore tax havens. So who can say the monarchy is not corrupt when in public office to benefit themselves. They are there for themselves.

Oh, do disclose it now. I am intrigued.

The royal family never disclose what donations they give, I do know of one who gave a big donation but it was not disclosed

How do you know they haven't or will not make a donation Grany bit of an assumption.

I agree trisher and Ellianne RFare benefiting from NHS receiving good care a gesture a donation to say thank you would be good. But they don't RF there only to help themselves.

EMMF1948 what they found out was true, still is, like it or not. Queen has lot of say on our laws despite them saying she doesn't get involved with politics.
