...a new freezer.

I've got one coming on Sunday. I'm so excited which when you think about it is so sad. It's not that our old one broke it's just a bit too small. This one will give me the extra space I need. When I was younger I got excited about Christmas, birthdays, holidays, nights out, nights in, fun things in general. Now it's a freezer hmm

I get excited about any delivery, whether it's just something mundane like dishwasher tablets or something luxurious like some beautiful new cushions, due any day now. We live down a very long drive with no neighbours, so the chance to say hello to a real person other than GraffaC is too good to miss.

I get excited once a week when my Sainsburys delivery is due! That is the only time I see or talk to anyone during every Lockdown! This week being snowed in was a real bonus! I had tried & failed miserably to get my outward opening front door open. Finally did & tried to shovel some snow off my steps. Should have known I couldnt (disability didnt help) so getting shopping in over went the snow shovel. The lovely Delivery man picked it up & shovelled snow down to the pavement for me. How lovely was he? Something to get excited over for sure! Sad bat me!

Had my vaccination this week. Community transport vehicle couldn’t get up the hill in the snow and ice. First time out in months AND on the arm of the young driver as I gingerly picked my way to the vehicle. Most excitement in months smile

I know just what you mean - after years of putting up with a 2 slice one that used to toast if it felt like it, I now have a 4 slice one that actually matches my new kettle !! Yaaaay!!!

A Spirograph. Hope my granddaughter is as excited with it as I was in finding it. Just a shame I can’t be there to show her how good I was at making pictures with it. I am always looking out for little things to amuse her, she is very good at getting on with her school work but it is difficult for an 8 year old to concentrate for long periods .

This has reminded me of when I was on holiday in Goa a good few years back.
I really enjoyed watching the adverts on the local TV, they were fascinating and obviously tell you a lot about society.
The adverts for fridges were the stand out ones and were amazing. Whole families, and especially women, would dance around the white goods in unabashed ecstacy. Fridge freezers were obviously the aspirational purchase.
And you can imagine why - they'd be an absolute life changer in that climate.

A set of new saucepans a few weeks ago. I love using them! Whatever would my 18 year old self have thought?

I am excited by just joining gransnet. I never knew it would be so funny and make me laugh so much. You all seem to have a brilliant sense of humour. It's the best tonic ever in lockdown.

I think I’ve got one of those random COVID tests just come through the post? That’s exciting.

Usually we leave everything on the mat for three days. Do you think I should open it straightaway?

Daffydilly Fri 12-Feb-21 10:45:45

Comfy shoes.

TrendyNannie6 Fri 12-Feb-21 10:41:06

I get excited about every parcel I receive sad or what! It doesn’t have to be anything big, I love the unwrapping it’s like Christmas, and putting it out on display whatever it is, ??

Davida1968 Fri 12-Feb-21 10:39:54

I have a new (warm) hat on its way! It will be very unflattering, but should provide ears/head cosiness plus wind protection, for when I'm out on walks. (Sad, or what?!)

Nannan2 Thu 11-Feb-21 11:18:32

Greyduster- haha, yes i did that too, back then, as even when i was first married & then had first child i still only had an electric roller washer(1980) then progressed to a twintub (still hard work) then a 'real' washer- i also noticed my middle child, as a baby, was fascinated by sitting watching it go round if id put him in his babychair while i got on with the washing! ? (unfortunately he was never tempted to do his own stuff as he got older)?

Nannan2 Thu 11-Feb-21 11:10:06

Sara1954- i know what you mean- on a day when both my youngest sons were at college and uni ON SAME DAYS i used to enjoy a nice leisurely breakfast, and me& the cat then had whole day entirely to ourselves to do with as we wanted, just enjoying peace& quiet. Not done that for over a year now....? (theyre good lads, but still, its not the same as a day just to yourself is it) ?

Callistemon Thu 11-Feb-21 11:05:14

A new kettle and toaster.
I keep admiring them when I go into the kitchen (sad)

Nannan2 Thu 11-Feb-21 11:02:30

Im getting a bit excited about the new washer coming tomorrow! And any other (smaller) household stuff ive ordered in lockdown.Thing is, by time they arrive and we have 'left them aside' for a few days, the excitement fizzles down abit.?

vampirequeen Thu 11-Feb-21 11:02:23

Sara1954...I'm not sure I could give up my peace and quiet for anyone these days so I totally understand your excitement grin

Sara1954 Thu 11-Feb-21 11:00:07

My daughter and her three children are currently living with us. If they all go out at the same time, I am beyond excitement!

Witzend Thu 11-Feb-21 10:59:19

Yes, the first jab was the most exciting thing to happen in this house for ages! (Not exactly in this house, but you know what I mean.)

I was nearly as excited when a nice new circular knitting needle was delivered - express for £2 extra. I’d had to bin an old one inherited from my mother, complete with the knitting I’d started on it, since it was rough and impossible to work with.

Ro60 Thu 11-Feb-21 10:58:19

? this reminded me of an occasion years ago when I had a day out shopping & spent more time & money in Lakeland Plastics rather than the beautiful clothes shops.
Right now I'd be Very excited to holiday, night out - yes fun things in general. ??
Enjoy your new Frezzer ?

timetogo2016 Thu 11-Feb-21 10:56:37

That made me LOL Peasblossom, thanks.

vampirequeen Thu 11-Feb-21 10:55:18

Rat poison...have your neighbours upset you that much during lockdown grin
