I'm also puzzled and worried by your post, Alexa.

kathw12 Fri 12-Feb-21 12:26:12

Hi everyone good afternoon! Late as usual! in my defence gransnet email doesn’t appear till late morning. Absolutely freezing cold here in my part of Liverpool wind is blowing but the sun is out. Have grandson today as part of our childcare duties. DH has just taken him out for a bike ride while I finish prepping tea for tonight.
Oh dear Alexa hope ur ok x

GrannyGravy13 Fri 12-Feb-21 12:14:58

Alexa are you okay?

Alexa Fri 12-Feb-21 11:56:37

Good Morning Friday! Will you bring me more forgetfulness of that unpleasant disagreement with the neighbour? I hope so. Friday is a whole day later than Thursday a day nearer my death. Funny how that does not worry me!

Taichinan Fri 12-Feb-21 11:54:50

Grammaretto that's a wonderful app isn't it! It reminds me of the saga when I needed it to find mine. After having been in Perth with my DD, I drove home (one hour +) to discover I'd lost my phone. My land line wasn't working, so I drove 30 minutes to my niece so that she could phone DD for me to tell her what had happened. I then drove to DD's - another hour - by which time she'd located my phone using that app. So we all (DGDs came too) piled into her car down to Perth (another 30 mins) and found it in the now empty multi-storey car park! Next time I'll be sure to lose it in the laundry basket!!

Callistemon Fri 12-Feb-21 11:41:45

Grammaretto grin wouldn't that be good!

Mapleleaf Fri 12-Feb-21 11:37:09

Good morning all,

Greyduster has our forecast spot on. The stronger breeze is certainly making it feel cooler - I'm pleased that my car had its MOT yesterday and not today, as I had to walk home when I dropped it off and walk back to collect it. The walk was lovely yesterday, refreshing. I rather think it would have been less so today, despite the sunshine.

So pleased to read that so many of you are getting your first vaccine. I've a way to wait yet, but the day will come.

Just a few general household chores to do today. I've already cleaned the bathroom, apart from the floor which is my next job after my coffee.

There are some beautiful photos today, thank you to all the posters who have posted them.

It beggars belief if those fires were started deliberately - though sadly it happens. I have to ask why? What pleasure do these idiots get from destroying landscape and killing wildlife and plant life through their despicable actions? I suppose I'd be a wealthy woman if I could answer that.

Well, I'll go and make that coffee now, and wish you all the best day possible and hope that those of you feeling unwell or anxious, have a better day ahead.

Nannagarra Fri 12-Feb-21 11:36:02

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is sunny but cold. Love the photos. Sending comfort to those with worries and wobbles. Have the best day you can everyone. ⛄️?

Grammaretto Fri 12-Feb-21 11:35:16

Callistemon the phone was in the ironing pile. It hadn't done the ironing. sad
It is a smart phone but there are limits.

Yes I think of Gillybob too Mick, every Friday

Good morning from a bright chilly Glasgow. I had another rubbish sleep last night, goodness knows why but my body clock has no pattern now. Sleep when I sleep and wake when I wake, no point in bothering about it.

Our excitement for today is that DH is having his jag today! Almost feel we should be having a celebration to mark the occasion ??

‘The Stranger’ is on my, to watch list and could be tonight’s viewing.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Callistemon Fri 12-Feb-21 11:16:07

Good morning Mick and everyone

Wonderful pictures, kittylester, thank you for sharing them, and everyone else too, for your winter wonderland photos and for the spring daffodils.
It's been very dry here in S Wales so we have no snow or icicles, it's just very cold but bright and sunny today.

Ashcombe we saw the pictures of the Dartmoor fire on TV - I was reading about it afterwards and apparently they can start spontaneously if there is an extremely cold and dry wind but it does seem very odd, doesn't it. I hope they manage to put them out before too much damage is done.

I hope you feel better later on today Marydoll - the one thing I found after having the vaccine, apart from a slight headache and sore arm, is that I feel very tired, keep nodding off and sleeping all night too.

Grammaretto grin I hope it hadn't gone through the washing machine on a hot cycle!

Kind thoughts to everyone who is under the weather ???

GrannyGravy13 Fri 12-Feb-21 10:58:17

Harris27 that’s how I got by jab, I am 63 and when The Husband went for his (70) he asked if they had a waiting list for left over vaccine at the end of the day they did and he added my name...........hey presto 8 days later I got the call ?

Gwenisgreat1 Fri 12-Feb-21 10:54:22

Good Morning all from Harrogate where the sun shines, there is still snow lying, but not much. DH has decided we have to take the car out for a run - Hurrah!! I am going out!! Might even dare to go into a shop!! Need some bits I didn't get from Sainsburies yesterday. Was going to do more baking, but would rather go out!!
You are lucky you know when no 2 Vaccine is Marydoll, neither DH or myself have a clue when ours will be. Glad you are getting your dentistry sorted.
Finishd watching "The Stranger" on Netflix yesterday, very exciting. Didn't know til the last episode who done it!
What lovely photos you have posted today - those icy ones would make lovely impressionist pictures, Kitty

Hope everyone is feeling better than they were - Tomorrow is another day

Harris27 Fri 12-Feb-21 10:39:02

Hi still off work another week to go then back everything open again. I miss my little children but thinking it could of been one of them that brought the COVID in make s me a little apprehensive of going back. However on a lighter note my sister is getting her jab at 11am and I feel so pleased for her. Asked her if there’s a spare going tell them I’m only ten minutes away?. Hope all are well and keeping busy I lie. Reading your chats and. It keeps my spirit up!

Blossoming Fri 12-Feb-21 10:37:27

Good morning all, cold and windy here in Lancashire today. There’s no ice or frost about and no rain or snow forecast. I will be tackling the laundry today.

FannyCornforth Fri 12-Feb-21 10:34:59

Kung hei, fat choi from me in a bright and sunny Derby.

This is the Year of the Ox. The Ox is strong, stubborn, patient and determined; so he is well equipped to deal with 2021 and its challenges.

Wishing everyone a peaceful and positive day.

Grammaretto Fri 12-Feb-21 10:27:26

Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is minus 6 but sunny and no wind yet

I love the daffs Grannygravy Thanks and for all the photos people post on here. I love Cumbria Happyme. and I have been invited to have a holiday there with DS's family in DiL's family static caravan if we ever get out of the lockdown/snow/pandemic.

I shop every day Urmston. I can't carry too much shopping but it is also a reminder that there really are people out there. We have a community shop who are ultra careful, masks and distancing, one-way system is compulsory, and it's ideal for me and others who live alone.

Sorry to hear you are unwell again Elizabeth1 I hope the antiBs kick in soon and what a shame about the vaccine nurse breaking her wrist.

I lost my phone yesterday and thought it had fallen out of a pocket while out walking in the snow. I was bereft! and tried to retrace my steps but no luck so I phoned DD on the landline and she told me to go on this website Find my device which can locate it even when it's on silent - it was.
It turned up in the laundry basket. I wonder who put it there? wink

baubles, Marydoll flowers

Susan56 Fri 12-Feb-21 10:16:20

Urmstongran, what a coincidence.6 degrees of separation indeed!

I will tell mum about your friend when I speak to her tomorrow.Mum and dad got to know the Campbells quite well,I wonder if she knew your friend.

Gelisajams Fri 12-Feb-21 10:15:10

A late good morning all from Morecambe Bay. There’s no new frost, no wind and no rain but I suspect it’s still cold. We went for a walk yesterday. The canal was frozen solid, with a smattering of snow. In one bit the ducks had cleared the snow but we’re all slip sliding on the ice. So amusing to watch them.
We walked further than planned and I was exhausted. DH went on ahead and returned in the car for me leaving me to enjoy a cup of tea and a sandwich on the sea wall from a take away cafe. He managed to do something painful to his back while getting out of the car and spent the night groaning every time he turned over in bed. Hopefully it will ease as the day goes on.
Take care stay safe everyone?

Taichinan Fri 12-Feb-21 10:12:41

One of DD's winter wonderland photos.

Taichinan Fri 12-Feb-21 10:00:56

Good morning all from a bitterly cold Angus coast where more snow has fallen. Enough is enough!
Welcome to the Chinese Year of the Ox. I hope he's kinder to the planet than last year's Rat! Usually all us Tai Chi-ers go to a rather lovely local Chinese restaurant for a banquet - usually 50-60 of us - but not this year of course. We just managed it last year before the first lockdown.
My main task today is trying to feed some water into the pond, which of course is frozen over except for one small corner. I hope I haven't lost the fish - I've just remembered we lost them all in 2010. However the miracle was that the little ones hatched out safely that early summer, so I must remember that! (Mr Heron managed to get most of them a few years later ?)
Loving all the photos today. Your DH's house in France looks lovely, Ash. My DD goes walking every day near her home in Perthshire and takes the most beautiful photos. I'll see if I can find one later and add it.
Now I must head for the shower and get this day moving - I don't pay attention to the clock any more and just do things as the inclination takes me. As usual, have the best day you can everyone. And remember Spring is surely round the corner ???

Auntieflo Fri 12-Feb-21 09:53:49

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all. Another beautiful, bright, sunny and cold day here in our bit of Berks.
Yesterday was a complete nothing day, and I felt so bored , but I did begin to crochet a Clanger, for GGS. Hearing that he had seen a couple of episodes with his Dad, I decided to make him one; then I can post it, and he has a parcel to open.

I was going to post yesterday, but by the time I got around to thinking about it, it was afternoon, and so many posts to read!

I now have my new phone, but it isn't showing the correct number in Settings, although calls are getting through. Also, I can only see ICloud Mail, and not GMail, so another snag for son in law to sort out for me.

Harrigran, sorry to hear that your DH has been poorly for so long. Hugs to you both.

Lovely french home Ashcombe, I also have porch envy.
Scentia, sounds as though your new baby guinea pigs will have a warm and comfy home.
Love the icicles Kitty. Are they the result of car spray? and one of them does look a bit like intestines.
Your poor DD Ginster, let's hope her drip is soon stopped.

Baubles, flowers for you . Chin up and we are with you and all who have the slumps!

To Marydoll, Elizabeth, Lins, and all who are unwell, Sending my best wishes for a good day.

Now to away and get myself ready to face the day, and being as it's Friday, remembering our Gilly

Have a good day one and all.

Mazz21 Fri 12-Feb-21 09:53:03

Morning all ?
Not ventured outside yet but my gardening son (who lives with us) opened the door to go to work and the Arctic wind got in. Flipping heck! Still no snow though and actually no ice on the car by the looks of it.
Off to pick up my click and collect grocery shopping in a bit. Just done my hair and makeup. Hope the bloke at Morrison’s appreciates it! When you don’t get out so much, it seems a bit of an occasion!
Nothing else planned for the day although I’ve got sone computer work to do for a mate of mine. And I’ve signed up for a free online reflexology session later and then at 6pm, a cockney sing song session!
Have a super day everyone
Xx

Grandmafrench Fri 12-Feb-21 09:43:57

Good Morning everyone from soon-to-be sunny Southern France.

Life overtook me yesterday but I caught up on all your doings before bedtime. I see how you have such beautiful cats, Blue if they have a daily pamper session. How obliging they must be and they must enjoy it. We do have a dog who will go and stand in the shower when we ask! ?. Fantastic news from your DD, Sar. Hope life will settle now and you can take a break from worrying. Taichinan - no, you’re not being a cynic. We’re convinced our paint, order in so many boxes, was deliberately vandalised. ? Have a decent day, Jax.

Baubles, you need to stop thinking! I find if I start to feel ‘what’s the point’, as long as I can find stuff - however dull - to distract me from contemplating too much on the What Ifs, I can get past a low point because I’ll get some small achievement from feeling in control again. Hope you have a better day.

I made a huge effort to get on and enjoy the day yesterday. At the end of it, it felt almost like the good old days. Of course warm sunshine helped. Doors and windows open, dogs and cats outside in the garden, DH ditto, enabled me to vacuum and steam mop all the floors which were dry in 10 minutes. Cleaned the bathrooms and then quickly baked some treats. At 2.15 we met some dear friends on the beach and walked for a couple of miles. Flat beach, foot not playing up, all fingers crossed. Lots of sails on the horizon, dazzling water and no wind. ? ⛵️A lovely treat as the 4 of us, with 3 dogs, a picnic rug and some refreshments, finally chose 2 massive washed up tree trunks to settle on near the dunes. (The dogs just wouldn’t keep off the picnic rug!)

We laughed at how ‘reduced’ our efforts were in these times and how happy we were to be out together. Normal life would see us meet for a stroll and an impromptu lunch in a pavement or beach café, later this became a picnic left in the car following a walk, to avoid carrying a wine bottle, containers, glasses, a combined lunch etc., Yesterday we sat in the sun and it was glorious. My girl friend made us all laugh when she said, I honestly think we’re turning into our Mothers. We had some bottles of water, some sunscreen, a box of cherry rock buns and peanut butter cookies and .......flasks of tea! All we needed was a windbreak and for one of the men to have a big handkerchief (knotted at 4 corners) on his head! ? It was fabulous. Probably no point in railing constantly about what we can’t do. Nice company, fresh air, being warm enough in long sleeved tee shirts and gilets in February and having tea and a rare catchup with good mates on a pretty empty beach .....what’s not to like? At the end of the day, it felt like I’d had a holiday. Today, I’m feeling positive and energized, so will make the most of that feeling. While it lasts!

Glad so many are getting the needle ?. Let’s hope and pray for safer and healthier times for us all. The snow will soon be gone - a further step towards Spring and lighter, brighter days.

Hugs and ? flowers for all who need them Keep going, lovely people, we’ll succeed together. ?‍♀️???
