Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and feels cold ?
Work today but only until 3pm then I will spend some time getting the guinea pig hutch insulated and ready for the arrival of my new little piggies.
Over the weekend I will be attempting to make a pair of curtains for DGS newly decorated bedroom. That could be fun!!
I hope all my GM friends are able to find a little smile today, after all it’s FRIDAY!!!!
(Aww, we miss Girl Friday and her tales of the North East.❤️)
Take care folks.

Good morning, everyone, on yet another windy one in Torbay. Sadly, this is fuelling the catastrophic fire on Dartmoor currently, which might have been started deliberately, as was one on Wednesday at a nature reserve in Cornwall.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-56034312

To claim no animals have died does not take account of the smaller flora and fauna affected.

Yesterday afternoon, I was given the AstraZeneca vaccine at a very well organised centre in Torquay with minimal side effects so far, apart from feeling mildly unwell after driving home and having a stiff arm and slight headache now. I’m just grateful to have received it and made sure I thanked all volunteers and staff involved, especially the poor souls on parking duty!

Since we’ve had little more than a dusting of snow here, I’m sharing photos of DH's house in France where they’ve had rather more. He has little hope of being vaccinated until late summer.

I hope those with pain of any kind have a better day and thinking especially of those with worries about the health of family members but we share in the joy of the good news from Sar53 about her DD and from Marydoll, whose posts are always uplifting to read. Thank you, everyone! ?

Good Morning all from Severnside. Dark and very cold.

I usually go shopping on a Friday but not this one. My walk to the mail box and putting out the bins yesterday was enough for me in this perishing cold weather. The only things I could do with are stamps and a book and that can wait.

Very good news to heat about your daughter Sar.

I see I have several things to iron so will get that out of the way today along with some pottering. I’ve a slow cooker meal today and a FaceTime with my daughter this afternoon when she finishes work.

Stay safe and warm ?

grandMattie Fri 12-Feb-21 06:41:11

Good morning from a dark crisp E Kent. The sky is just showing fingers of nacreous pink.
Scentia, although I make all our curtains, Ash*, I wonder if a pyromaniac heard about the peat fires on Benbecula. These fire are terrible, aren’t they?
Did nothing yesterday, nothing on today. Just find my mojo. Anyone seen it?
The ☀️ sun is forecast here today k hope you have lots in your lives. Stay safe. ?

Beechnut Fri 12-Feb-21 06:44:01

I have porch envy with your photo Ashcombe?

kittylester Fri 12-Feb-21 07:02:48

Good morning all from a slightly less cold North Leicestershire.

Ironing for me today. Yesterday, we had to fill the car upland get some cash in town. On the way we passed these fabulous ice formations.

kittylester Fri 12-Feb-21 07:03:54

Photos!!

kittylester Fri 12-Feb-21 07:05:06

Twice - sorry!!

cornergran Fri 12-Feb-21 07:12:45

Morning Mick, morning All. Apparently -2 outside, our corner of Somerset is dry and overcast.

Those photos are worth seeing twice kitty. That house looks picture book in the snow ashcombe. Good luck with the curtains scentia, you’ve reminded me I used to make all ours, haven’t for years.

Plan a well wrapped up walk, something with chips for lunch, some sewing, reading and not much else today. An official day off we thought.

Take care and stay warm everyone, special thoughts to those with heavy hearts.

Nannytopsy Fri 12-Feb-21 07:32:47

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
The sunrise is pink in Suffolk and it looks like another beautiful but perishing day. I shall take a walk but then it will be more culling of photograph albums. I spent yesterday in 1985 to 1987, so there were lots of photos of our newborns, first birthdays etc. ?
We went to collect our clicks yesterday and have one on Sunday for a Valentines Day meal deal from Waitrose. Of course we ended up adding more stuff, so I think we can stay home for a long time after all this shopping!
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Pantglas2 Fri 12-Feb-21 07:33:50

Morning all from a very blowy north Wales where I’m awaiting the chamberpot wot DH is fetching.......☕️?

Lovely to read good news from Sar53 and Miss Marydoll and Ashcombe, I joined you yesterday having ? with no ill effects and slept like a baby ? afterwards!

DD messaged at 5.30 to say they were offering appointments to 65+ at hub in Llandudno and DH thought I was on a promise with Denzel Washington, I moved that fast out the front door.....?

Will pop in later to read everyone’s doings but in the meantime stay safe x

Gingster Fri 12-Feb-21 07:36:07

Good morning all and the sky here is so pretty in Essex. Dappled pink and blue. Still looking icy out there.

The pics are lovely! Ashcombe And kitty . Magical.

DD had a difficult day yesterday. The electrician in all day sorting out problems , so they all stayed in their bedrooms trying to keep warm. Schoolwork and sandwiches. No hot drinks. After he left early evening, she messaged to say they were nice and warm and had eaten when she noticed her ceiling was dripping. Hopefully someone coming early this morning. She’s a single mum and has no support. ?. I can only be of help from a distance with sympathetic words. Life’s tough in so many ways at the moment isn’t it!

Best wishes and kind thoughts to all. ?

Dwmxwg Fri 12-Feb-21 07:43:33

Good morning from a cold north Surrey, surprisingly no frost on the cars.
I read about the Dartmoor fires Ashcombe, so sad, I wonder how they can know no animals killed, what about the small mammals.
Amazing ice formations Kitty, nature has such beauty.
All quiet here as it is an inset day. DD going to do her weekly shop on her way home and will the have to stay up as I have a hygienist appointment. I will come back here to take over so that she can get a few hours sleep. The boys and I will need to be very quiet so TV and iPads will probably be allowed and I will tackle her ironing, I can take them to the local park too to get some fresh air and have a run around.
This afternoon will make a start on my housework and then a relaxing evening is planned with DH, film and wood burner.
Wishing all a happy Friday and thoughts for those struggling with pain and worries ?

NanKate Fri 12-Feb-21 07:44:56

Good morning Mick and All.

Bone crushingly cold in South Bucks will be wearing all my thermals today.

What fascinating ice photos Kitty. My eldest DGS mixed snow and black currant juice to make himself an ice-lolly ?

It’s the Chinese New Year today so some spring rolls, rice and maybe spare ribs on the menu. ??

baubles Fri 12-Feb-21 07:47:43

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire. The snow has frozen hard, I heard a couple of cars crunching their way along the road earlier.

Yesterday we walked around the snow covered golf course, it was so still and quiet, little pooch had a ball tearing around and snuffling in the snow.

I’ve had a sudden mental slump which has blindsided me, no idea where it came from, I just feel that all this will never end. Thinking logically of course I know things will get better so I must pull myself up out of this dark hole and get on with doing something useful.

DH is taking our new car into the dealership today to have a software update as there appears to be a problem with the sat nav screen. One would have thought that a brand new car would have the latest software. On the other hand the garage door, which himself had driven into in the icy weather, was replaced yesterday. One of the chaps told DH that it’s really common for this to happen, and they had just been to replace one for the second time since Christmas as the owner had driven into it twice.

Nothing happening today except for dog walking, a bit crochet and a I’ll make a vaguely Moroccan lamb casserole for dinner.

Hope everyone has a peaceful day.

ginny Fri 12-Feb-21 07:49:29

Good Morning. Surprisingly little frost here in N. Bucks.

My hospital appointment went well yesterday. Very efficient and the radiologist was lovely.

Dd3 had a midwife appointment and called to say all was well and sent a Wattsapp of her 28 week bump?.

Had a nice driveway chat with DD1 on the way back from hospital.

In the afternoon we had a call from the couple we palled up with in Thailand. We have kept in touch via Wattsapp but it was good to have a proper chat. Hoping to see them sometime this year.

All in all a good day which I needed after having something of a melt down on Wednesday.

DH has his first ? this morning.

Stay safe everyone and hope you all find a ? today.

brook2704 Fri 12-Feb-21 07:54:11

Good morning everyone from Inverness where my app tells me it’s warmed up to -2 outside and it’s forecast to get up to 1º later in the day ?
Some lovely photos to wake up to this morning - beautiful house Ashcombe and stunning ice formations kitty thank you!
Nothing planned today, I’m looking forward to the snow eventually clearing off the garden, hopefully next week ..fingers crossed
Yesterday I met DD and the DGC briefly for a walk in the snow, DGS age 7 was a bit out of sorts and went home crying ? I think it’s all getting to him bless, but hopefully he’ll be back at school a week on Monday and some routine will be restored.
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care whatever the day brings ?

Gagagran Fri 12-Feb-21 07:55:21

Morning all from a still very cold south coast. -1.7c at 6am and only 15c indoors. Definitely a day for CH being turned up. It should be milder from Sunday.

Had an early text from DD to say their fridge has conked out and can she borrow our spare garage one? DH said she could just put everything from her fridge outside as it's so cold but she declined that idea! So she and DGS will be round shortly to pick it up. We only keep drinks in it so it's not a problem.

That's all we have on the agenda for today. Funny how things keep turning up under Any Other Business.

Take care everyone and keep safe and warm. sunshine

Beauregard Fri 12-Feb-21 07:55:29

Good morning all from Derbyshire where it's cold but not frosty. Looking forward to it warming up from Sunday, although that means more rain!

Lovely ice photos Kitty very dramatic.

I won't be going shopping late afternoon again as I did yesterday. The shop was not too busy but many of the fresh things I wanted were sold out, so back to my usual early mornings in future.

Wishing everyone a good day today.

Pittcity Fri 12-Feb-21 08:00:54

Good morning from a below freezing Colchester. No new snowfall and the sun is out.
Pottering today and spag.bog for tea.

Grandmabatty Fri 12-Feb-21 08:01:43

Good morning all from Polmont where it's still snow covered. Marginally warmer this morning as it's -4 which is better than yesterday! I have to trudge to Aldi as ds is coming over for tea. The car is still snowed in. I cleared a path yesterday from the back door to the street. By then my feet were numb and the agony as they started to heat up! I'm not inclined to drive in snow so a walk to Aldi it must be. Lovely photos Ashcombe and Kittylester. The beauty of winter. I saw that there were fires on Dartmoor. And also on benbecula. How on earth do these start? I feel very sorry for the small animals who must be terrified. On to my second cup of coffee then I'll head out into the snowy wastes. Vegetable spring rolls then mushroom stroganoff for dinner. And of course tiramisu. A journey round the world meal. Have a good day all.

Sar53 Fri 12-Feb-21 08:08:22

Good morning from a bright but very windy and cold Essex by the sea.
Thank you to everyone who sent kind messages about my daughter. We are all so relieved at the news.
I dont think I shall be venturing far today and will be glad when the snow and ice are gone.
Some more rubbing down and undercoat painting is on the menu. I'm not a fan of decorating but I do like the finished result.
Love the snow and icicle pictures.
Enjoy your Friday and stay safe everyone xx

NannyJan53 Fri 12-Feb-21 08:10:43

Good morning from a cloudy and freezing Black Country. Not as cold as yesterday where even going out to the garage I needed to brace myself!

Almost finished stripping wallpaper now. One wall had wood chip under the Anaglypta, so that was a pain.

Hoping to go for a walk with my friend who lives nearby later this morning. That is my plan for today, then finish reading my book. Which I then lend to my friend, who has already lent me a book to read after this.

I know that feeling well baubles it seems to come just as I feel I am on top of it. flowers for you.

I saw that fire on the News last night Ashcombe it looks horrific, something that you expect to happen in summer. Your DH's house looks lovely, hopefully you can go over there in the Summer if not late Spring?

Wishing you all a good Friday, hoping gilly is reading this so she knows how we are all thinking of her

Marydoll Fri 12-Feb-21 08:13:04

Good morning all from a very chilly Glasgow. It’s too cold for me to go out, although I am desperate to do so. Anyway, we vulnerable folks are safer at home, taking the pressure off the NHS. Stay at home, save lives!
My jailer DH, says NO, this extreme cold neither good for my heart nor lungs. I hate to admit he is right. ?

I have little sleep. The injection site is pulsating and extremely painful, I'm feeling quite ropey and slightly feverish. However, I'm not complaining, it is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Any discomfort will be worth it, to eventually be able to go out and about again and have a reasonable a level of immunity. That will be 28th May, just in time for our planned trip on the Flying Scotsman. Something to look forward to.

What lovely photographs today, everyone. Ashcome, your husband's house looks lovely. You must be missing him so much.

Nothing much planned for today. I have Chelsea buns rising overnight, so I must go and do a second rising.
A Tesco delivery and a possible Zoom catch up with Dollie.

My little craft room is in a bit of a muddle, I may try and motivate myself to do some filing, then again I may not! wink. I seemed to have received so much paperwork recently.

I now have a date at the end of the month for my dental treatment The dentist practice have been so efficient and helpful and couldn’t have done enough to support me over the last few days. What a contrast to my GP surgery.

Have the best day you can, everyone. For those who are in pain or worried about family, I wish you a peaceful day. Baubles, I hope you can get your mojo back soon. You are not alone. ?
