Good Morning Everyone,

Today is covid jab day for number 1 , my brother is taking me to my surgery to get it done .
Then the usual sit down watch TV day , had a letter also from my surgery as to a MOT unlike my usual bi yearly diabetes check , its the usual blood test , etc and I have to submit a questionnaire as to some basic things like weight etc .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick, morning all from chilly South Lanarkshire. Minus 4 with a fair wind by the sounds of it. I’ve no intentions of going out just yet. Hope your jab goes well Mick.

Super news about the baby Mary-doll hope you’re feeling better today. Beautiful collage Gelisajams, no idea where it is though, unless of course the clue is where you live.

Thanks for all the good wishes yesterday, sorry to have been such a misery. I think you’re right about hitting the wall sheep.

Went for a longish walk yesterday and came back through the cemetery to cheer me up. I jest, I actually love an old cemetery and don’t find it depressing. Little pooch needed a lie down and a cuddle with teddy when we got home.

More of the same today but I’ve decided to make that my mantra Nankate ‘another day nearer release’ I’ll repeat it to myself every day.

Have as peaceful a day as possible everyone.

Good Morning everyone from Going-for-a-beach-walk-while-DH fishes- South of France. Glorious day, am about to put together a picnic, a book, some biscuits for the dogs, flask, binoculars. Maybe we won’t park too far from our picnic spot!

Welcome lady from Germany (sorry missed your name over the page). Hope you’re safe where you are and COVID life seems to be getting better ?

That is simply beautiful, Gelisa. Don’t fight it Grey ... get those needles out. Can you go somewhere nice you’ve not been for a while, Mattie? Your Mojo might be there. x

Mary don’t you deserve a real break? Be kind, plump up those pillows, let DH peel you a grape and give yourself a chance to recover. ?. Lovely news about that big babba and her Mum.

Harri please take every bit of help you can. You deserve that and more.?

Scentia you made me laugh out loud. Are you now the style Police for Burton on Trent...or what? GrandmaB what sort of a boy takes away his lovely Mummy’s Tiramisu? Oh dear! ?

Thinking of you Cherry, Auntieflo, Georgesgran, Nortsat and anyone having a rough or sad time.

Seize those vaccines, folks. Have a good Saturday!
?⛵️?‍♀️?????

Marydoll Sat 13-Feb-21 09:29:22

Baubles, a few years ago we walked through the cemetery in St Andrews. It was fascinating, but sad to read about the lives of the people who were buried there. Seafarers, young men who had gone to war and never returned and so many children, who never survived infancy.
The Necropolis in Glasgow is on my list of places to visit, when I'm allowed out. You get a great view of it from one of the waiting rooms at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. ?

Morning from S Lanarkshire, vaccination early yesterday was fine and then I spent the day organising food for the weekend in case I had a reaction. Just as well, I started to feel quite unwell last evening and still not great now. Oban daughter who is a nurse happened to be on FaceTime and was a bit taken aback by sudden appearance of a huge and painful black and blue bruise on the back of my hand but it disappeared as suddenly as it arrived! Anyhow, took paracetamol and had a good sleep. I don’t feel sparkling but more paracetamol and a restful day will sort it I’m sure. I am very grateful to have had my jab, onwards and upwards!
I read yesterday’s posts last night and was delighted to see that your friend’s granddaughter and baby are well Marydoll, wonderful news indeed. baubles, hope today is a better one.
Good Saturday wishes everyone x

Alexa Sat 13-Feb-21 09:32:01

Good morning, Saturday Grans. Here in Derby, England, all I know of local events this AM is the local weather which is clear and cold.

ExD Sat 13-Feb-21 09:34:22

Good morning from S Cumbria where the day has settled into a dull grey one, bitterly cold still after a spectacular sunrise.
Am I the only person in the country who had no side effects from 'the' jab? Just a vaguely heavy arm which I don't think I'd have noticed if I hadn't read about all the aches and pains others have reported. What a relief to get it.

Marydoll Sat 13-Feb-21 09:37:27

Welcome to the thread, Alexa. I hope you are ok. Some of us were a bit worried after reading your post yesterday.

Nannagarra Sat 13-Feb-21 09:38:14

Good morning from sunny Sefton where the sky was washed with pink and apricot as the sun rose. It is chilly and quite gusty but too dry for test——- ?.
It’s so uplifting to hear that many posters are booked to have the vax and that Mick and Kalu will have it today. There’s also brilliant news from Marydoll about the mother and baby and from Urmstongran about the blood test results. That’s a beautiful collage, Gelisajams - how clever you are. My grandmother lived in Morecambe.
I’m counting signs of Spring. My front garden, heavily planted with crocuses and daffs, is gearing up ready to bring cheer to all who pass by. The vixen must have mated as I haven’t heard her call for more than a week now. Garden birds are becoming more vocal. Nature gives such positive messages and is a wonderful distraction.
Have the best day you can everyone. ???

amselerin Sat 13-Feb-21 09:43:09

Good morning all from still frosty Lueneburg. Minus 16 last night. Now I am tanking vitamin D in the brilliant sunshine. Yesterday I went with Waldi (my dog) to the little lake near me. The lake looked like a painting from Buegel "The Winterland" or so. It was so uplifting to see so many children and their parents skating- The laughing sound of children was great. Now I am going to the village shop and this afternoon I am visiting a friend for tea and cake. No sign of any injection being available for me.
Take care and have a good day.

Grandmabatty Sat 13-Feb-21 09:50:49

Welcome Alexa I hope you are feeling stronger. This is a lovely thread to be part of. Hearing about others' lives always makes me feel part of the world. Take care.

GrannySomerset Sat 13-Feb-21 09:53:18

Struggling to get going this morning, but thankfully DH is happy to stay warm in bed for a little longer so at least going slowly doesn’t matter. One of those days when waking up felt pointless, but that will pass. Grey and still bitterly cold so don’t think a little walk will be a good idea. Oh to be able to ask friends in for an hour - we need the stimulus of other people more than ever.

So sorry Marydoll had the expected reaction to her jab but delighted that so many are getting theirs. Fabulous collage, Gelisajams, very clever. Have the best day we can, everyone. One step nearer, and all that.

Nannagarra Sat 13-Feb-21 09:55:49

ExD I’m in your club of minimal side effects post-jab (which I had on Monday). I had a slightly tender upper arm - that’s all.
It may well be a different scenario chez nous this pm as DH is having his at noon! He went on and on after his flu jab...!!!

muse Sat 13-Feb-21 09:56:09

Good morning Mick and all. Love the photos posted this morning.
Had our first little flurry of snow 10 mins ago (Cornwall). Lasted about 30 secs.
Hoping Mya's relapse was temporary. Had a useful chat with the locum vet late yesterday. Going to feed Mya some Probiotic fibre. Lifted my spirits a bit.
Cold wet grey walk this morning. Still a bitter wind.
Lots of vaccinations happening today.
Positive news Urm smile
It's great to read the news from those GNets outside the UK.

granfromafar Sat 13-Feb-21 09:56:16

Good morning all from clear blue-skied west Kent. All the snow seems to have cleared from the paths and roads that are visible from the house and looking forward to a balmy 4 degrees tomorrow!
Had a sad day yesterday after learning that a neighbour had died suddenly last week (not covid related)
Had met him and his wife just the day before while out walking so it was a great shock. Such is life.
Good to hear of all those having vaccination today or booked in soon. Take care.

Kalu Sat 13-Feb-21 09:57:31

The view from my room as a 1st year student in the nurses home at GRI was overlooking the Necropolis. A bit disappointed my view wasn’t Glasgow Cathedral.

Lovely to see you posting this morning Alexa. Hope you are having a good day.

grandMattie Sat 13-Feb-21 09:58:16

french, chance would be a fine thing! Leaving my mojo somewhere nice? Last place I visited was Bristol, 13 months ago... ?
Baubles, when Mother was pregnant, my parents used to visit cemeteries to get inspiration for names. They found my GGF’s first wife’s grave, and called me after her! a very old fashioned name... Thanks a bunch, Dad!

GrannyOwl5 Sat 13-Feb-21 10:15:43

Good morning everyone from north Kent where it is a beautiful sunny day, but still very cold with lots of snow and ice hanging about on the pavements so think I will stay in the garden with the birds.

Lots of good news today - jabs being had and many upcoming, good results from blood tests, the safe arrival of a bouncing baby girl; all positive vibes that we need to read about to help us keep going.

Welcome to new posters; this is one of the best threads on the forum.

GrannySomerset hope you feel a bit better as the day goes on. Grey skies are always depressing; hopefully blue skies will come soon. We would all miss your posts, so never feel pointless.

Hope those with illnesses and worries have a better day. Have a good Saturday. Stay safe

Grammaretto Sat 13-Feb-21 10:16:46

Brrr! Scottish Borders -2 °C . (feels much colder)
Good morning everyone and thanks for reminding me it's Saturday and family quiz tonight. I have even called off attending a Gaelic ceilidh in favour of seeing my lot.
I do miss them.

When I told DGD I was missing her and missing Grandpa, she recommended a teddy!

Good to hear so many are having your vaccines but sorry for those having after effects.

I sent my friend a Chinese restaurant meal yesterday - for Chinese New Year - and had one myself (mine was a homemade stirfry) I felt quite sick after mine and I have yet to find out how she is.

I think your collage is beautiful Gelisjams where is it? It could be any of the beautiful coastal scenes I miss so much.

I also enjoy graveyards baubles and was once part of a group recording gravestone inscriptions. It was called Recording Angels

12Michael Sat 13-Feb-21 10:19:58

Did not have the jab , still not a 100% , I feel sick, my own doctor was going to do it , he advised me I would get some Flu effects .
Another try 2 weeks down the road may cancel my MOT as well , sooner be 100% right in myself and a chance to recover from the Hospital experience , which still haunts me in some ways , plus cold weather has not helped me , here's hoping we get into a more seasonal weather situ .
Mild weather , will help .
Mick

Urmstongran Sat 13-Feb-21 10:22:55

Another here who was concerned about you yesterday Alexa. I hope being here amongst virtual friends help.

I’m with you muse it’s lovely hearing from those over in Europe. I like the name of your dog amselerin. Did you say he’s a dachshund? Such cute hounds. I’d have one if I could but my retired lifestyle choices don’t allow.

Urmstongran Sat 13-Feb-21 10:25:01

Sorry to hear you’re not quite 10% yet Mick. That hospital stay will have knocked the stuffing out of you. Rest up as much as you can to restore your strength and mental well being. You’ve had a tough time.

Urmstongran Sat 13-Feb-21 10:25:50

Bluddy hell ... 100% obviously!
‘Not 10%’ and we’d be seriously worried.
?

amselerin Sat 13-Feb-21 10:29:47

Hello all, again. I just wanted to welcome all the new posters . Also, I am so pleased about all the positive news on this chat, Grandmafrench I am envious. Marydoll you are an inspiration.
I thought I checked my spelling, but obviously not: Bruegel.
I do love all your posts. Sheepandcattle your insight of farmlife is fascinating. I am put to shame though, I am not good (like so many of you) at handycraft. (I don`t know, if that sentence is correct?)You make such beautiful things.
Without reading all your posts daily, or almost daily, something is missing for me.
So, have a joyful day.

Marydoll Sat 13-Feb-21 10:34:30

Mick, you must be disappointed, but your doctor definitely knows best.
It's also a sign you should be resting up. I was surprised you felt able to go out and about right away. I'm still out of sorts, five weeks after my heart attack.
You need to look after yourself, you don't want to end up back in hospital, which is my greatest fear. It's not a pleasant place to be at the moment.

Callistemon Sat 13-Feb-21 10:35:36

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very chilly S Wales - it's rather grey here too. DH had to take a hammer to the ice on the bird bath this morning. Most days the thick sheet of ice has lifted off so it must be colder here today.

I hope all goes well today Mick and anyone else who is going for their jab or recovering from it ; hoping my mojo comes back too as I keep nodding off every time I sit down after having my vaccination last week.

I think we're all entitled to a down day, especially just now, baubles.

Gelisajams is it the N Devon/Somerset coast where Exmoor sweeps down to the sea?

Best wishes to all who are under the weather for whatever reason ???

Greyduster if you're like me your jumper should be nearly ready by high summer, but it does help to pass the time!
