Good Morning all from -2 Harrogate, the snow is disappearing and no more forecast!

I've had my shower (I know you wanted to know that!!) My DD1 has phoned to make sure we are OK. She's taken to looking after an elderly man nearby - she just goes to check he's OK and gets bits of shopping for him.
Interesting to hear about The Burrell collection Marydoll - was so disappointed it was close 2019 when we were in Glasgow. I feel that collection haunted me as a child. A good days outing for me then was a trip to Kelvingrove (Still get withdrawal symptoms if I don't get to see it). As a child there were so many corridors "closed for the Burrell collection" If I peered round, all I could see where bits of stone!! When we lived in Newton Mearns, the Burrell Collection was finally opened - it was wonderful. Lovely memories, thank you Marydoll

Sorry, Mick I saw your update after I had posted; take care and I hope you feel better soon. It's early days if you have just come out of hospital and perhaps you need to take it easy and not go out in this very cold weather until you're fit again.

It's very cold here in South Yorkshire, with a cold breeze which makes it feel colder than the temperature says, and that is -1 degree c.

Feeling a bit tired as I had to trundle downstairs at 5 am to sort out the smoke alarm - it kept bleeping, getting more frequent and louder. Luckily, there was no fire, it was the battery running low, so I took it out and decided to sort out a new battery later. It took a while to get settled again, but I did eventually drop off but it made me a bit later getting up and sorted.

Sorry you couldn't have your vax today, Mick, but you are better resting up and getting yourself very your spell in hospital- it takes longer than you think it will, so be kind to yourself, and rest up. Perhaps your brother could drop off some basic provisions at your door until you feel stronger to go out again.

That picture looks impressive, Gwenisgreat1. You are very skilled.

I hope the after effects of the vax quickly wear off for you Marydoll.

Gwenisgreat that is my absolute favourite too. It used to be hung so you could see it as you went upstairs. I'm not a great lover of Dali generally, but St John of the cross is magnificent. Thank you for sharing. I would love to visit Kelvin grove. Sadly not at the moment.

While Kelvingrove was being refurbished, the painting was housed in the Glasgow Museum of Religious Art. I took pupils there to do workshops on religious tolerance and we were given a talk on the painting. It was so interesting and informative.

Good morning from West York's it's still very cold out . Will have a walk after lunch we are thinking take away for meal later .I'm another having strange dreams verging on scary resulting in poor sleep .? for those under the weather or have lost their mojo .

Good morning from West Sussex. Still cold and windy so looking forward to rise in temperature from tomorrow. I went to pick up some library books yesterday and wore my mask to keep my face warm!

Hope Mick, Marydoll and others with ongoing illness or vaccine side effects, feel better soon. I am going for my ‘jab’ at lunchtime so am a bit nervous but pleased to be getting it sooner than I expected.

Family birthdays this week, DD3 and DGD today, DD1 on Thursday and DH and DGD1 next Saturday. Going to drive today to deliver cards etc and give the campervan a run. Journey is just under an hour each way. Looking forward to change of scenery but waving to family from pavement outside their house will maybe be more frustrating than a pleasure. Never mind, they are all well so that’s the main thing.

So envious of that beautiful collage Gelisajams. I have no talent for crafting. I have been arranging and re-arranging some shells and backing paper for a box frame picture but it never looks quite right .

Good morning Mick and all. If anything, it's even colder today on the Angus coast with very strong winds and dry snow blowing horizontally across the fields. I've even just seen a pigeon flying backwards!
Sorry to hear you're not feeling well enough for your jab Mick. Another two weeks should make a huge difference, as will warmer weather. Just stay home and take care of yourself.
Lovely to see you back Alexa. I hope you're feeling brighter. In the darkest days of my life I used to tell myself "just get through this hour" - which certainly worked. Even now I just live in the present moment as much as I can - which is easier done when you're on your own with nobody else to consider!
Your collage is absolutely beautiful, gelisajams. My first thought was Cornwall - but I guess that's wrong, given where you live!
Sorry to hear about your bad reaction after your jab Marydoll. Get better soon. Same goes for all suffering after it. I was one of the lucky ones who had no reaction (now I'm wondering what's wrong with me!!)

As a teenage auntie, one day I was having a playful tussle with my niece (6) and nephew (3) when I got an ouchy thump in the chest. "Those are your busters, aren't they" said N. "When I grow up, I'll have busters too. Ha Ha Ha - you won't" she said to her little brother. "My not care" he replied with great pride. "My dot a willie!". End of discussion.
Snap! Grammaretto. I too had a job surveying inscriptions for the Local Studies department of a library where they were compiling an archive of everyone who had lived (and died) in the area. I found it absolutely fascinating but sometimes so sad. In one cemetery a large stone showed that the local laird in the 1890s lost all nine of his children within one week.
Also, Grammaretto, your DGD's suggestion of a teddy to hug is actually very wise. I was reading the other day of a care home where some dementia patients were given dolls to cuddle, which seems to be a success. Out of the mouths of babes, and all that ???
Now off I toddle to do I know not what. Get dressed might be a start - it's too cold here for a pj day Scentia! Enjoy today everybody and keep cosy and safe ???

I went to a poignant exhibition at Kelvingrove during 2018 showing art from World War 1. It was by ordinary men, from both sides, not war artists.

I worry that museums and galleries are threatened along with theatres.
I heard that all the London theatres are being run by a staff of 8 caretakers who check them every day while actors and production teams are laid off.

You have been in and out of shops maskless right from when you first came out of hospital and now you are not feeling well.

As far as I am aware, nausea isn’t a particularly common symptom of the virus but people do seem to have a variety of different symptoms.

Mick I agree 100% with what JenniferEccles has to say. You need to make an appointment to have a Covid test asap. You are not helping yourself and even less other members of the public walking out and about without a facemask. I understand you are exempt from wearing one but have you thought about a face visor? That would give yourself and others some protection.

I live on my own and I do not need to go out almost daily to do "little shops" I do an online shop about 3 weekly and once a week top up my bread supply and buy other items then when I am in the supermarket.

When you return home the first thing you should do is wash your hands, put your items away and then wash your hands again.
Look after yourself.

Charleygirl, I agree. Mick, people on this thread only want the best for you and would be upset if anything happened to you.

Marydoll. yes, I copied it. As you will know it's been in Glasgow since 1952. It's always been my favourite picture since I was small. One of my art clubs suggested we copied a favourite picture, so that's what I did!!
