Grumpy Grannie Gripes

I don’t have gall wasps nanna8 but I’m definitely suffering from from low-level non-specific grumpiness! ??

I know the feeling, I think it’s the lockdown blues and not meeting friends !

This little Pollyanna has also finally been defeated by the unremitting dullness of this long lockdown.

I am permanently sleepy, my eyes trying to close on me all the time and only kept open by constant trivial physical activity.

Yes me too MOnica, although I am never a Pollyanna, even in the best of times.

I have no incentive to go outside for exercise. I feel as if I am JUST about managing to hold off a full-on depression though, so I am just hunkering down and carrying on, albeit in power save mode.

Every Tuesday my DH or I drag our bin to the edge of our property for the dustbin men to empty.
Every Tuesday when binmen have emptied it they leave it half way down the cul de sac. Could they not return it to where they got it?
This never used to make me grumpy but lockdown has definitely made me grumpier.

Can I join the Grumpy Grannie club please. Like M0nica throughout my life I have been a glass half full happy bunny, I have no idea why I have suddenly changed, I think it has slowly crept up on me since the beginning of February?

I am hoping that as the weather changes my mojo shall return, I give myself a firm talking to each morning in the hope that one day it will be successful!

I don't think the weather helps, it's been unusually very cold and has made venturing outside very uninviting. Yesterday, did bring a milder 9 degrees, positively balmy compared to last week thank God, we went out for a walk, but it's soooo muddy underfoot. I do identify with most of the sentiments posted here it's lockdown fatigue I guess that renders us so unmotivated, it's just gone on for so long. Missing close family and interaction with other people is another factor.

I so identify with the waste bin situation.
Our collectors leave 3/4 houses bins together in the middle of the pavement.
A few months ago my paper and cardboard bin had its lid broken by said collectors and I had to pay £19 for a new one
It is still shiny and new.
Last Friday one of my neighbours took my sparkly clean bin and left a really filthy old one.

When it is blue bin day in a couple of weeks my GD is checking to see who it is!!

My own gripes are so numerous I couldn’t even start.

annsixty rookie error! You need your house number or name on a nice new clean bin!

About the bins- they print the street number on ours so they can’t be nicked. Maybe you could get a texta and do the same to the shiny one?

I have had my number on my bin since day 1. Self adhesive numbers can be bought at any DIY store or garden centre.

My (very slight) grumble is that my house is one of three on a small access road and we have to put our bins where the access road reaches the road, no problem with that, but when we put them out we put them on the grass verge so that vehicles can get on the access road to the houses. The bin men often leave the bins in the middle of the access road by the pubic road and, as the road is narrow with parking on one side, if you are returning home, you have to stop, get out of the car, move the bins, get back to car and then start up again, holding up all traffic going in both directions while you do so.

the title of Grumpy Granny Gripes reminded me straight away of Woodward's Gripe Water for babies. I bought this back in 1968 for my then baby. lol

I sometimes feel so grumpy maybe I need some.

My gripe is with lockdowns. I appreciate they are necessary and I stick to them despite not enjoying them. I think the 1st one was easier to cope with because it was a novelty of sorts. Added to this I felt that staying indoors for 12 weeks would put paid to the virus once and for all, then life could go back to normal. I certainly felt upbeat and enjoyed the lovely weather we had so I spent a lot of time gardening which helped with getting exercise, fresh air and feeling fit and well. The November lockdown and this current one have been depressing and that is most certainly not me. Miserable weather and little to do outdoors has left me feeling lethargic. I have to force myself to get motivated.

lemsip exactly my first thought. Loved the taste of it, do babies still have gripe water or is there a modern day alternative.

Sorry for changing the subject but doesn't really warrant a thread on its own.

Outreach decided to close our road at both ends. Even though I had no intention of driving out today I felt very irritated about it. Usually quite easy going but I am getting more grumpy lately.

Bins - mine was always going AWOL then I bought some decals from Amazon, white background and black print, number and street name - wonderful! (Why didn't I do it when I moved here 5 years ago?!)

Trying to think of something I get grumpy with but to be honest I can't seem to summon the energy to get grumpy with anything......not even Mr Happy......he has never had it so good

I’ll add my grumpy gripe after returning from a walk along the canal path.

I could hear 2 joggers approaching from behind, talking loudly to each other as they pounded along the narrow path. I kept close to the verge to allow the 2 men as much room as possible to run past me.

Instead of going in single file as they passed to keep a reasonable distance they remained side by side on the narrow path. One came so close as they whizzed by that his pointy elbow brushed my coat sleeve ?

Happyme you are lucky to have Mr Happy and not Mr Grumpy. Too many of those around.

This makes me really grumpy. A neighbour drops her bag of dog poo in any bin she happens to be passing at the time. Or sometimes she drops it in her own recycling bin, along with her general household waste. In other words she doesn't recycle. Her rubbish is often loose and not bagged either. It doesn't affect me but the recycling workers have to put up with this nonsense which makes me very grumpy on their behalf.

Gin is the next best thing to gripe water Lemsip. It cures everything! The only time my glass is not half full!?

The big disappointment over gripe water was back in 1992 when they removed the alcohol from the formula.
My biggest grump at the moment -and I’m sure it’s a result of being in lockdown that it’s so irritating, is the constant use of ‘if’ in the media to explain what might have happened or not happened.
The outcome of an ‘if’ about the past cannot be proved, yet the disputes and claims go on and on.

Neighbour wars locally, being reported on village Facebook site, people putting their overflow of glass items into neighbours glass boxes, getting very heated! Descended into a count of empty bottles of alcohol of said neighbours, no names of course!
Me, I’m getting increasingly annoyed by a neighbour who’s been ‘fixing’ odd motorbikes for weeks and weeks, keeps starting and running them until they conk out again, I’ve seen people calling in and trying at least one out. Much muttering from me to DH about Covid rules and running a business from home

?? AGA. Don't think he can raise the energy to summons his inner mr grumpy either. The Happy house has descended into calm sleepy ennui
