Yes, you’re so right. My sister and I were blessed with a lovely mum. She had such an awful upsetting childhood from the age of 9y, bless, she told us she was determined that history would not repeat itself and we were indeed the beneficiaries.

Our Yorkshire Lass has been on the phone again tonight. I just listened. Sometimes a silence is okay? I think the person who is stressed doesn’t actually notice as their mind is super wired.

My lovely mum once said to me ‘as parents, we just need to be there, as a safety net in case our children drop into it’.

It’s all we can be, sometimes?

Ah right Jaxjacky! I think this & Mick’s thread are interchangeable. Sister threads, as I’ve said before. One ‘in the morning’ and this one from noon onwards. I ought to check first!

It’s been a bittersweet day for us with my stepfather. It’s 3y today since my lovely mum passed. We went over to his, looked at photos and shared some wonderful memories. Had a wee dram or 3 of Ben Nevis malt whisky (I wasn’t driving, Himself contented Himself with ‘Just The One’.). Hey ho. I feel slightly squiffy now but I’m not bothered.

We’ve made plans for the 3 of us to visit Plockton at the end of June. Stepfather’s house has been sold in the village. We will stay need to stay at the Plockton Hotel ... a few doors down from what was his house across the road from Loch Carron. I love that when we rang the hotel at tea time today, they said ‘How is ** it’ll be good to see him - he’s been missed this last year’. We all said this afternoon, it’s people who count in this life. Experiences, not ‘stuff”. Sorry ... I’m a bit maudlin. Blame the whisky.

Spent a fruitful 20 minutes on the phone reducing our Sky payments since they announced a rise in their prices, booked a couple more delivery slots with Tesco and filled up four seed trays with seed compost to start sowing today. Also chat with solicitor, nearly at the end of sorting my late Mother’s estate which went through probate, seems HMRC may owe us some money as the inheritance tax may have been over paid. Bet if they do, that’ll take a while.
Steak pie, new potatoes and peas for dinner, an easy one.

The big present was a voucher for a spa stay to the same hotel where she was married. It's big enough that she can take a friend for treatment too. At the moment it's very difficult to actually get nice things. Her husband bought her beautiful jewellery so I knew to steer clear of that. I hope that helps, Soop ☺️

Mr and Mrs Grandmafrench - hoping you made your wedding anniversary a special day.
I've spent the day trying to get the motivation to do jobs, cooking and gardening. No success yet. Maybe tomorrow?
We did have a nice lunch though.

Happy birthday to Grandmabatty's daughter. I'm nosy intrigued, what is the 'big present'. I love birthdays. I'm also very fond of lemon sole. A big treat.

It's misting over I very much doubt that we shall enjoy a colourful sunset a little later.

Our builder has had a few perfect days for outside work. Fern hasn't visited so far today. The builder has been drilling/hammering/sawing within reach of her apartment. She will almost certainly know that he's finished for the day. Her cooked chicken is ready and waiting for her to enjoy.

I am logging off until tomorrow. It has been a happy gathering in our kitchen. I look forward to meeting you all again at sometime tomorrow.

Lovely photos Soop. It's my dd's 30th birthday today as well as grandmafrench anniversary. I've visited her and dgs this morning with some presents and her 'big' present arrived in the mail after I'd left so I'll nip back with it later. It's so cold here! I've had the heating on all day. I've been to the fish man and got lemon sole for tea. So that's as exciting as my life gets. Have a good afternoon all.

Just had a lovely short walk in Bushy Park opposite Hampton Court Palace.We are lucky to live so near and it will be nice when the palace gardens are open again.We went to Inverness last winter,loved it especially Loch Ness hope to return one day.

We were across the loch opposite Drumnadrochit yesterday jaxjacky near Foyers and Inverfarigaig. I’ve only ever seen a pine martin once and didn’t know what it was until my DH told me

Good afternoon lovely people. I've been absent for a couple of days and missed so many "goings ons"!! Belated birthday and anniversary wishes to Fennel, grannysomerset, JaxJacky , cornergran and anyone else I have missed!! Panache I don't have words which can help but you are in my thoughts. So pleased Fern made an appearance Soop - how precious all these animals are to us. Our shopping just arrived courtesy of the lovely man from sainsbury's. Ours all put away and the food bank donation and my mum's shopping all bagged and ready to go. I need to go and change the bedding and Ruby-proof the lounge as I am on nanna duty tomorrow ?. A rather late Happy Birthday to Jaxjacky. If all those flowers are anything to go by, it must have been a good day. Another lovely sunny day today although getting colder as the evening drew on. One thing I hate about having washing on the line: even in nice weather, my hands get so cold pegging it out and taking it down. Anyway, a second lot of towels got done today, but the bed linen will be dried indoors as I don't want it bringing tree pollens into my bedroom.

Lovely photos from you all, the weather and sniff of Spring helps us all. brook2704 my ex in laws used to live in Drumnadrochit, long drive from the south of England, saw my first pine marten there. I’ve had a lovely day thank you all, pleased Fern is back soop. My daughter is getting two kittens in a couple of weeks, the GC’s have named them Cosmo and Oslo.
Thoughts tonight are with panache and others in dark and difficult places x.
