Soop's welcoming kitchen for friendly folk

Good evening kitcheners. I have had a lovely afternoon at dd. She and sil are having a birthday weekend for dgs. It's his birthday on Monday. I even put makeup on! Dgs will be 2 and they have put balloons everywhere and characters from The Lion King, his favourite film. Lots of"Wow" from him at everything. I then phoned mum who can be extremely difficult but she was on good form. And to top it all my DD will join us on Monday for a walk in a local park. Soop those are beautiful photos. I see there was a cyber attack on Mumsnet which will explain the difficulty of getting on. Tomorrow will be quiet. I have a Tesco delivery due early then the rest of the day is all mine. Housework is done so I might pop into the garden for a while. I hope Mia settles down Muse and poor Sam gets his op sorted N&G. Have a good evening all.

Yiayia4 very clever, I’ll have to look it up for our granddaughter to have a go, you crafty people are so patient. soop glorious pictures, what a view, quite soothing I imagine at times.
N&G I can offer no advice, but at least there’s now a plan, hopefully muse can find one for Mya too with the diet. We’ve had a quiet day here, aren’t they all, Tesco delivered, all present and correct, venison grills, homemade chips and veg in a while. I must admit, even as one that quite likes cooking, even thinking of a rough weekly menu is getting tedious.

By, that wind is fair getting up this evening! Brr. I’ve spent the afternoon ringing two friends for good long chats - one lady of 60y with severe shingles this week - she sounded low, bless. T’other a friend in Bradford recently bereaved. Sad too, understandably. She just feels lost. Lockdown and her having MS don’t help either, poor thing.

I’ve been reading a book in between by Jenni Murray (she of Woman’s Hour) about her struggle with weight issues since childhood. It’s called ‘Fat Cow, Fat Chance’. I like her style of writing and I’m racing through it on my Kindle. I don’t like Saturday night tv so after we’ve eaten I’ll settle down to continue with it.

N&G if Sam has a vest please keep an eye on him. We found a vest a better solution than a cone for our cat - but as pets like to scratch themselves she kept getting one leg and foot caught up under the vest, and then she fell over as she couldn’t get it out without help from us (it needs to be a tight fit as they can try to get it off).
Once the vet has removed that pesky cyst site Sam will recover quickly ? Best wishes

Sorry to hear Mya has had a bad reaction. Poor soul her choices are getting more and more limited aren't they?

Sam saw the vet and she is pleased with the wound but the lump remains and as it is a cyst it will keep refilling unless the sac is removed. So he is going to have the op in 2 weeks to remove the whole thing, We had a discussion about protecting this new wound as it is on the back and side of his neck so a cone of shame sits in just the wrong place.

Apparently the vet will sell me ( at some ridiculous cost Im sure) a vest with a mandarin style neck which 'should' do the trick. She doesn't know yet but she'll be getting it back if it doesn't ;-)

We did try a t shirt but what he really needs is a polo neck - there might be a niche in the market !!

Puzzler It was a good final. Both ladies are charming contestants. I shall be rooting for Medvedev in tomorrow's final. I MUST NOT spoil the anticipation by seeing the result printed in the newspaper, or indeed photographed on the Face Book page.

I am going to research diamond art. I am impressed.

My thoughts continue to be with Panache. I'm also hoping that those of you with niggles of one kind or another begin to feel improved very soon.

Yes Soop you buy the kit,it does look a bit like tapestry but basically its just sticking beads in the right place.

Muse, have you tried Harrington’s salmon and potato? If you add a little hot water to dried food it brings out the flavour without having to add anything that may upset her.
I hope you’ve recovered from the vaccine side effects now urmstongran, it will be worth it.

Welcome to the kitchen, Happyme. It would be wonderful if muse's Mya could find a suitable diet, one that would resolve all the worrying health issues that blight her life right now.

I did call in earlier. I tried on several occasions to post messages and photos. Something was amiss. I could not make any headway. In fact, I was told that the server had expired. Or words to that effect. It made me cross.

However, I shall share last night's fabulous sunset with you. Right this minute, it is blowing something not too short of a hurricane.

I've been looking forward to watching the highlights of the ladies Australian tennis final. It begins in a few minutes on tv. Blow me down with a feather, I logged on to FB and there, before my very eyes, much to my dismay, is a photo of the winner. She happens to my favourite player. BUT, I wanted to watch the match without knowing the outcome.

I shall return later. Fern will be home soon. Must prepare her lunch in readiness.

Thanks ~*happyme*. Had a look at the AVA but it has dried egg in it. Almost sure it was the scrambled egg she had yesterday that brought it all back. Looking for a dried food with no cereal, egg or dairy.

Back later for a further catch up. Rains stopped. Off out for a trot with Mya. It might give her an appetite. She's not eaten anything yet.

Will be interested on your verdict on your car anno. DH likes his cars small and nippy nowadays. He had an MGB when I met him and has flirted with various convertibles, classic and up to date, since then. My preference is for a big, solid high car.

Hi. Haven't posted on this lovely thread before but having late night trawl and saw Muses post re Mya. So sorry to hear about her problems. Our dog Bobby suffered with similar 'splodge' issues from being a puppy with the added problem that he was also passing blood. Like yourself we did research on the internet and tried cutting out various food types. He is a fussy eater too which didn't help.
One day whilst in PetsatHome we met a friend who on hearing of Bobby's problems told us his dog's similar issues had been resolved by putting him on their AVA dried food for sensitive stomachs. We tried this and within days his poops were perfect and have been ever since.
He does have days when he turns his nose up at it and we have found that adding a little boiled white fish encourages him to eat it.
Good luck, I hope you are successful in finding a solution, it has been a big relief to us to get Bobby sorted.....and him too!

Dropping in to catch up with everyone's day. It has helped because the day's slowly progressed to another low. Thank you for all the lovely messages about Mya. I felt so pleased for her this morning. I'd spoken to the vet yesterday about her progress but worried that she wasn't eating all the dry food. He suggested some scrambled egg so she had a little bit last night and more this morning. Yes, she ate all the food but the problem has come back, ten fold.

Polomint. The kitchen never closes. It's usually my last port of call for the day around midnight.

Soop + Grannygravy - I love convertables. Had a white MG Roadster in my late 20s when children were small. It had to go when they grew too much to fit in the back. Also a Suzuki Vitara. A pain to get the hood on and offer. My love affair with a BMW Z3 started when I retired. Sold it when I moved. It wouldn't have coped with our very bumpy track.

Sad to read on a few other threads how low some are feeling today. I blame the weather and vets.

Nannytopsy I gave up on alcohol free/low alcohol drinks a while ago, for me it’s either alcohol or water if in the pub, cuppa at home.
Steak and Stilton pie with new potatoes and beans was very filling, earlier for dinner, extra ventilation in the bedroom tonight I think.
I’m yawning, goodness knows why, nearly finished my latest bed time read, so I’ll be up soon.

soop, the car is white! When I sent a picture to the family WhatsApp, DS2 said, 'How long will it look like that? White is a brave choice'. Cheek of him! He doesn't trust me to keep it pristine. Can't think why.
Alcohol free gin is surely an oxymoron! Though I have to admit that my gin-drinking days are long over . Still, at least I have the memories.

Sorry if that was a bit brusque! I know one or two of us are fond of a G&T and I hoped to save you disappointment. The brand we bought was sweet which gin definitely isn’t!
