Soop's welcoming kitchen for friendly folk

Ironing soop, not for me, MrJ does the ironing, having said that, I have almost none, quite happy to let body heat sort any creases. I’m no baker, but made an effort for the kitcheners, very basic I’m afraid, I bring rice crispy cakes, a lighter munch. The sun is streaming through the windows after a rainy morning, exposing window cleaning neglect, I’m not much cop at that either. Delivery of new book earlier, the first one published by a friend, when we’re allowed, I’ll need her signature inside before great things move her up in the world. Hoping all with troubles have a little sun today too.

I meant to add that I have never been to Greece but considering my liking for all, admittedly anglicised, Greek food combined with their beautiful scenery I would love to go there. Although Galen’s kitchen sounds pretty good too, if there is any Baklava left.
I hope you are managing Galen and not in too much pain now you are home.

It’s a very pretty day in Portugal today Grandmafrench. A gentle breeze, a few floating clouds and plenty of sunshine. We are sitting in the living room with the outside door wide open. I have taken a photo of an early freesia that has managed to flower in the ugliest corner of the garden.

Am I too late for the scones. I do like having new people in the kitchen if they bring cake!! Welcome!

Just had a driveway visit from DS number 1.
So nice to see him it’s made my day and I realise how lucky I am that he lives near.

I just popped in for a quick sit down, having washed the kitchen floor and done a little light hoovering, and I saw the lovely little treecreeper. Well done in getting such a good photo.
I’m off now to refresh the bird feeders in the garden. We don’t have treecreepers but many others visit. I do love to see them.

anno I've an appointment in early March. A drill will be ready and waiting. I'm thankful for a few sessions of short-term memory loss. Cowardly, I admit.

corner Health issues refuse to be ignored, nor do they ever disappear overnight. It's an uphill, ongoing slog at times.
Mr Soop's blood cancer and aortic aneurism are never going away. I try to talk myself into thinking that he doesn't appear to be getting worse. Although. of course, due to Covid, his hospital appointments and scans remain on hold.

Hello Kitcheners from a warm, overcast, bit drizzly S of France today. You are a dear, corner. I shall try to catch you in a shouty mood when I announce the elusive Vaccine date. That way I'll be sure of a rousing cheer from a foreign kitchen. Do hope you feel that your worries have lessened just a bit and you'll be a bit stronger now to cope with family stuff. I think we all feel quite isolated now and that's not a good way to feel when we need support or we've got health concerns.

Beautiful cats, Baubles - and the little dog is scrummy. Looks like the type of little dog that used to appear on the cover of big boxes of chocolates - or you could have on your pillow to keep your pj's in. No offence, little dog

Sorry you feel so rough, Urms. Even the vaccines don't seem to be on our sides, do they? I shall await mine with some trepidation.....

anno and hellogirl are obviously being attacked by "stuff". You sound remarkably calm, anno as your already compromised world has to be re-arranged in such a way. I can remember the time that my DH spent online searching for maybe the only wood burner in the entire world that fitted our fireplace. It seems that I just don't have the patience! Cars and cookers, teeth and hospitals, weather, supermarkets and travel. Everything must be conspiring to drive us all bonkers.
How is little Sam, N&G ? Have I missed an update? Is he up for walks and not distressed at the moment?

I'm going to put away the ironing (small boast), shorten some trousers, make some tea and check on DH who is currently measuring the pool for a tile order. My bedside orchid flowered this morning, after keeping me waiting since the end of October. The flowers will be there for ages and ages, so I shouldn't complain. See, patience missing again!

The Treecreeper was investigating the log store earlier today. One of these days, I shall post a superb image. Could do better. Need to try a wee bit harder.

Galen - just what the doctor ordered. Do you get baklava on prescription?
As I've been without a car (MOT failed, cheaper to buy another) I have had to cancel some dentist's appointments (four miles away, no buses) but as I am hoping to sort out a car today, I decided to reinstate my appointments to have a filling crowned. I couldn't get one for another five weeks - he's a deservedly popular young man.

Morning All. Feel much more positive this morning. Thank you all for your understanding.

Had an unreasonably early hospital appointment about spinal issues that have come with scary warnings. Saw the most calm and reassuring person, clear explanations and clear advice. No action yet. There will be a phone consultation in about a month. I’m to phone him in the meantime if anything changes or I’m concerned. Couldn’t ask for better. NHS at its best.

The major worry is a close family member with upsetting health related issues. I’d be fine if I could just go and give them a hug. Wretched virus. Now I’m more sorted myself the worry pot has emptied a bit and it all feels easier to cope with. Just need my knee sorting and Mr C’s heart issue to have got to the end of the investigations and all will be well in our world.

The photos made me smile baubles. We’ve never had cats, always been dog people, those kittens could covert me .

Hope grampy had a positive vaccination experience n&g. I’m always cheered when I hear of more folk being vaccinated. There will be the loudest cheer when your turn comes grandmafrench.

Another baclava fan here, the calorie filled version is always part of our Christmas treat box. Sadly empty now. Maybe some at Easter. .

How has the oven hunt progressed hellogirl? Hope there’s been success.

An unreasonably early start means an early lunch here. Off for lasagne and garlic bread with enough salad on the side to ease the guilt.

N&G, they are Bengals and very beautiful.

Yes the coats are very handy for that, I see lots of dogs in the park wearing all in one fleecy things that cover everything but the head and paws. I think that would be a step too far for my pooch.

Just getting ready to take Grampy for his vaccination !

Bauble are the kitten a special breed - their markings make me think they are. I love the coat - Sam has one for very muddy days it stops his long underbelly fur getting caked with mud . Grampy has him well trained , when he comes in he stands on his mat and patiently lifts a poor at a time for cleaning . Best behaved dog we’ve ever had and we’ve had a few!!

I love Baklava ! Hand it over ( or the buttered crumpets ...I’m. not a picky) .

Charleygirl to be honest it’s probably just habit now. We got her at the beginning of last year when the weather was awful and she was so little. I got a tiny raincoat so that she didn’t get completely soaked and now just use one in the snow and rain. It keeps her reasonably clean and dry so I just need to wash her paws when we come in. Yesterday she could have done without it so today, unless it’s absolutely pouring with rain, I’ll leave it off as the temperature is rising now.

She really doesn’t mind me putting it on her though.

baubles I love the kittens. May I ask why your beautiful little dog needs a raincoat? I am amazed he allows it to be put on him.

corner so sorry to hear you have problems in corner land. I hope you are caring for the ginger guard cat. Hopefully, any mice may give your garden a wide berth.

Baclava is really yummy and yes, no calories- we are so fortunate. I like Greek food but I am leaning towards Indian and Chinese- really anything except British, too bland for me.
