‘Evening All’

We’ve had a grand day here in south Manchester. Himself and our boy wonder (8) went on a long bike ride together and grandad took him a short, safe distance on a main road to the meadows. Apparently he grinned from ear to ear telling mummy afterwards as he felt very grown up having to stop at the traffic lights in front of grandad in the cycle lane!

Little miss (4) and I went to the ‘other’ park (we have a choice of two right on the doorstep) and I loved she insisted on putting on her backpack ... which she unzipped and put one sheet of paper in, that she’d drawn a picture on that morning. So important to take it to the park in her mind. She zipped it back up, held my hand and off we went!

muse it’s a relief to you that your son has not only been in touch but been to see his GP too. He’s not well but time and support are what he needs, and is getting, right now.

NannyT , one of our grandsons has what my Mum would call ‘tender’ skin and his hands became cracked at the beginning of lockdown through all the hand sanitiser and hand washing. I bought some oil based soap on Amazon and it cleared it up with 3 days . It’s now his special soap and I just replace it as and when.

The colours in that sunset are spectacular. I miss the west coast for its sunsets as well as lots of other things, though it's 56 years since I left.
Could it be that there is too much rugby even for me today? There's still the Wales - France match tonight which should be a good one.
I really feel sad for you Hellogirl, having been in the same position myself, many years ago. You can have no peace of mind, just not knowing.(((hugs)))

The sunset a couple of evenings ago was very special. I share a photo with you all and wish you a pleasant and peaceful Saturday evening.

Pretty nothingy day today, browsing my weekly treat of a paper and started the crossword. I’m feeling naughty as I haven’t been for a walk, but, the man turned up to discuss the garden work that we, or rather I, would like done, now awaiting his quote. My fellow allotmenteer couldn’t come today, pre-op and Covid testing prior to hernia op on Tuesday, we’ll go tomorrow. I so look forward to a chat with another human bean (BFG), it does us both good as he lives on his own and my DH has his limit as we discuss all things veggie. Rugby this evening, but also have Gogglebox from last night recorded. DH absolutely fine after AZ jab yesterday.
Hoping Mia just nonchalantly strolls in this evening Hellogirl ?

soop, I hope you have now noticed that Scotland are playing just now and at present they are 38 to Italy's 10.

You do that for missing dogs, Yiayia, so why not for cats? Excellent idea. Hunters here (I try not to spit the word!) are well known for 'losing' their dogs. When that happens, if they care about the dog, they will leave something - an item of clothing/jacket or some such - at the place they last saw the dog. I have seen it work. Good luck, Hellogirl and well done, Lynne for going through all that footage.

Neutrogena is super, dusty. What a little fly by night that Fern is turning into, soop. Hope you have your nerves more under control now. She goes....she comes back. Hopefully you'll learn to cope with the worry in between. Do you think it could be possible that she has a family somewhere? A cat family? There's got to be a very strong pull of something to keep taking her away when she clearly loves it chez Soop!

Feel better and calmer, muse. He's talking to you and confiding, and doing something about his problems so with your help and support, he's bound to get there. Patience will be rewarded, I reckon. Have a not-too-strenuous Saturday. I well remember just how awkward our railway sleepers were in our last gardens. I'm surprised I can still walk upright (well, on most days!). Good afternoon and thank you everyone for your good wishes. We have just been browsing rings - my goodness I'm starting to get a bit excited!! I'm so sorry little Mia has not yet returned- such a worrying thing to happen. Duncan is now such a senior (or geriatric as Mr BA often unkindly calls him!!), he is an indoor boy but I remember the worry he caused me when he used to go off on his jaunts. Hope everyone with illness or worry finds little respite today and please stay safe

My D.I.L’s cat went missing last year, she was told to put dirty items of clothing outside, he returned after 11 days so who knows.It sounds odd but maybe worth a try Hellogirl

Good afternoon from a sunny warm Portugal. I have not been on for so long that that you are almost at the end of another Soops Kitchen . I am better than I was but still fall asleep very easily but it's a tesult of all the medicines they have goven me to slow my heart rate down.
The good news is I was able to restart chemotherapy yesterday but with Vinorelbine tablets instead of it in infusion style. My veins are now so flat that it is almost impossible to get enough blood to be tested.
Still the important thing is I am still here and fighting and hoping to keep more in touch with this thread.

dustyangel Yes! Neutrogena is excellent. Mr Soop used to suffer from cracked dry skin on his hands. We have a tube in the cupboard as standby.

Nannytopsy if Sudocream doesn’t do the trick, try Neutrogena original hand cream, I’ve used it for years, in fact my Mother recommended it to me! You only need a tiny bit as it goes a very long way.

Yiayia It is a relief to hear that your cousin's condition is stable. I sense that we are a long way off returning to life as we knew it pre Covid. Please keep us updated. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Nannytopsy Hoorah for Sudocrem. It was always the best for sore bots, so it will help to heal sore hands.
I may watch the rugby. Although Scotland won't be playing, I find it a distraction when beating a mountain of ironing into submission.

muse I could not be happier for you. Waiting and wondering and fretting for some positive news regarding your son, must have left you feeling sapped of emotion just recently. Please may this be a turning point. He needs both professional help and support and breathing space in which to recover. My very best wishes go out to him.

Hellogirl1 You must feel emotionally exhausted. I wish that I lived close by. I would be happy to search for clues as to Mia's whereabouts. Fern has gone off again. She ate supper the day before yesterday, did not spend the night in her apartment and has been absent ever since.

Our walk ( and bacon roll) was thoroughly enjoyed by all !
We sat on a bench , surrounded by forest and birdsong and just enjoyed being outside.

I am so sorry to hear Mia is still missing Hellogirl . Don't give up hope yet, cats are remarkably resilient .

I'm glad your son has taken action for his own health Muse. The search for new employment will be stressful I'm sure. Has he considered investing in a session with a career counsellor ? They help you evaluate your career path and often can help you see a better path - something he might not have considered but that would be better for his mental health? I tried it once and although it didn't alter my career path it clearly highlighted the types of organisations and cultures that were a best fit for me.

Cute kittens Jax , I suspect mischief might be their middle names :-)

Congratulations on your rearranged wedding Blades , I hope its everything you hoped for . I hope there will be pictures. I love a good wedding.

I am off to the West Wing today, young Cooper will be 7 in early May and Mummy has sent a list over of required decorations. She's going the extra mile because for the 2nd year he cant have a party due to Covid :-(

DH is hoping to spend time in the garden over the next few days too corner.Like Mr corner he is inclined to overdo it so I will sit in the conservatory reading/keeping an eye on him.

I am hoping for a few quiet days doing just what needs to be done and no more and hopefully time to relax and read.
