Megan and Harry again!

I have watched all the clips of him with James Corden on The Late Late Show, he looked relaxed and happy.

He is in Santa Barbara now, leading his own life on his terms. It must have been hard for a grown man to have to defer to his Grandparents all the while knowing he was only ever the spare I wish them both a long and happy life together.

Excuse me! I was a primary school Head with an interest in linguistics and speech development. I don't have all the papers to hand, but basically by the age of two a child will make one or two syllable sounds that stand for items they want, such as “bah bah” for bottle, or “da da” for dad.
It isn't usually until the age of 4 years that they use 3 syllables to form words.
Now I'm sure Harry is a very proud dad and that is commendable. But crocodile as Archie's first word? Someone is having a laugh!

Does it matter?
It's much the same as these children I read about who spend their time quietly doing arts and crafts until they're 27.

Not at all MissAdventure. But you were the one asking for an explanation of the word "crocodile" and my post was a follow on from another poster's.

It just came across that you were outraged.

My grandson's first word was "cake" or something sounding pretty similar. That's the trouble with boys, it's all about food or drink!

If I post what I think Archie might have actually said I suspect I will cause a pile on of epic proportions and get a ban! It's one less syllable though... ?

I also think that when they had their child the secrecy didn’t do them any favours and the Press stirred up the ‘rage of the British people’ when no baby photos were forthcoming, no one knew when or where she had had the baby, lists of Godparents were and still are a secret and when we did see the child it was on an overseas trip.
They really didn’t help themselves, but I wasn’t outraged and I’m sure most of us didn’t really care one way or the other. The Press had a field day though.

I agree that "we are not owed any of that information" Summerlove but it's expected by some. I'm not saying it should be but H would have been aware of that expectation and no doubt M would have been too before she married into the RF.

Summerlove No we're not owed that information as such, but there's been such a long established protocol about royal babies that when it wan't followed with Archie, it raised questions, interest and speculation. It's pretty natural that people would show an interest I think, and many are very invested in the RF so do get affected by the changes. Whether they should or not is a different matter.

The press didn't stir up rage. I remember being surprised and mildly disappointed.
Eugenie and Jack got it just right: beaming with pride and shell-shocked at the same time, and just enough glimpse of the baby.

What harm or distress would have been caused if they had done what is simply a custom, they make appearances the public turn out to cheer them, they didn’t get married in secret , they lapped up the cheers on their wedding day .

I know I’m in a minority but I don’t understand why we need (or are desperate ) to see the baby belonging to people we’ve never met.

I think it was because at that time we (the taxpayer) were still funding them, all be it via the Queen et al.
Plus of course they went against convention.

Having seen various bits of the Harry interview today, he pretty much said that they wanted some control over which parts of their life were for the public - so I think they felt that they should have control over when people saw the baby and that following the protocol wasn't what they wanted to do. I think they'd have been left alone more if they had followed it myself.

They did exactly what every other royal bride and groom do.
They didn’t necessarily”lap up” the cheers, they were newly married and happy. Do you not sometimes, just sometimes, think you overdo the criticism ?
