Good Morning Thursday

Good morning all. Polmont is damp and it has obviously rained heavily. Sunshine through the clouds at the moment. Cooler today at 6°. Nothing planned again. I'm hoping dd drops in as it would be nice to see her. WhatsApp chat with friends yesterday left me a bit grouchy. They all have partners or live with someone and I don't think they understand what it's like to live alone in a pandemic. I won't fall out over it though. I hope you have a good day.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it's 6° C, not exactly warm, but the sun is shining through the blinds.

My late BIL was very skilled at making dolls houses, Susan, making one for my daughter and just before he died, one for Dollie. It was fabulous!

I don't know where yesterday went, but I still haven't touched the spare room, I'm still feeling under par, since my severe reaction to the vaccine!
However, I lay on the sofa, watched Shakespeare and Hathaway and did a bit of sewing.
I bought a fleecy jacket from White Stuff reduced to £24 in their sale. I really liked it, but the sleeves were very wide and long, cuffed at the wrist, making me look like a cross between a teddy bear and a Michelin man! Rather than return it, I decided to alter it. Last week it was featured on QVC still selling at £74! A bargain indeed! ?

Mick, as part of my Christmas, my daughter gave me two books about Paisley, the town where I was brought up. I was absoluted delighted, as I love looking at old photographs and maps.

A day out for me too today, lots of apprehension excitement. I have a BIG dental appointment, where my dentist will begin to try and work on the damage done to my teeth by my RA during my shielding. I have usually have three monthly check ups, but haven't been since January 2020.☹
The dentist is right beside the old fashioned bakers of the strawberry Danish fiasco and I have a notion this time for potato farls! Well at least they are soft. ? I shall supervise DH from a distance, while he shops! ?

I received yet another hospital appointment yesterday. I have gone from everything in the last year being cancelled and not allowed out, to suddenly being very much in demand.
For me this is a very hopeful sign, as it means the NHS here looks as if it is trying to get back on track.
However, as I am still having to shield, I'm anxious about being near people in medical situations.

Poor DH was quite fearful, as although it is only a telephone appointment in April, it should lead to my Alendronic Acid infusion in the day ward, which is only five minutes from Braehead shopping Centre. (which should be open by then) That of course means he will be doing a fair amount of bag carrying , as I have a load of vouchers, burning ? a hole in my purse! ?

I’ve been examining the local ewes on my walks (see how I called them ‘ewes’ not ‘sheep’!) and taking note of the colours on their rumps. I used to think these were identification marks so the farmers knew which farm they belonged to.

Good to hear that your DD is doing well Sar.

DD’s fabric dining chairs have not fared well after several years of constant use by four children so I’m going to try to clean them up one by one. They have been languishing in my garage since I took them off her hands when she replaced them with something more practical. I fear it may be a lost cause but I’ll give it a go anyway. That will keep me occupied for a couple of days.

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s a lovely sunny one. The sky is pale blue and pink and I can clearly see the ridge of the Pennines - always a good sign for the day ahead! Funny to think they were snow topped just a couple of weeks ago.

We have absolutely no plan for today so I think a walk with Himself and takeaway coffees would be enjoyable. There’s football on the television tonight for him - Rangers (!) at 6pm and Man. Utd at 8pm. He’s living his best life with all these cups and fixtures!

Hope Thursday is good to us all. You’ve done amazingly well Scentia procuring a new Home in under a week! I agree, definitely weird, tipping all the residents out in such a rushed manner. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

DD WhatsApped me a copy of a letter 12 year old DGD's school sent, saying how pleased they were to how she has adapted to home schooling and how she has shown a sustained commitment.

Ashcombe I was in B & Q the other day and the Till Operator offered us a loyalty card which you sign up to online, with the words 'do you have a computer'! Erm

Dwm my Mum was 9 when war broke out. She lived in Wolverhampton, but luckily didn't have to be evacuated, in fact they had an evacuee stay with them. Talking about long term memory, my Nan in the last few years of her life (95) could talk all about her memories of her Dad going missing in the 1st World War, and how upset her Mum was. He turned up after 2 years in a prison camp. Ask her what she did yesterday and she didn't have a clue!

Good morning from North Yorkshire. The weather has changed again, this time for the better, clear blue sky and sunshine. ?
I’m meeting a friend for a walk this morning, then doing more zoom this afternoon and evening; Treasurers’ Network and Parish Council. I don’t usually go to the latter but there are big discussions about local farmland being given over to a large solar panel installation. I have very mixed feelings but it’s certainly better than the previous attempt to change the land use to a quarry!

Good morning from a lovely sunny NE.
I watched the Lucy Worsley programme about the blitz and found if most interesting.
Our town sustained a lot of damage during the war because of the shipbuilding and other industry.
DH and I belong to an Antiquarian society and we used to enjoy the lectures about the history of the area.
Grocery order had nothing missing but several of the ready meals had yesterday's date on, too many to eat in one day so had to freeze them.

Good morning, a bit grey here, hope it will brighten up. Scentia, what a nightmare, having to find a home at such short notice. Going for a walk later with my friend and her dog, she has had her first lot of chemo this week and is feeling quite nauseous, hope she feels better today. We took all the tools which needed sharpening to someone locally yesterday, hope he does a good job, of he does we will reccomend him to other allotmenteers. Have the best day possible everyone.

Good Morning all. The wind has dropped at last and it is dry here in N. Bucks.
Had a good chat with the nurse yesterday morning and feel a bit calmer about health issues.
Will walk down to town this morning probably by a circular walk . Need to collect a prescription and as the market is on , we will visit the fish stall. For some reason I have a fancy for some mackerel.

Large pile of ironing to tackle as I took advantage of the weather and line dried a lot of laundry yesterday.
DD is taking some of our surplus furniture and leaving us a smaller dining table ahead of her house move tomorrow.
Then it's Jay's online pub quiz with the family.

Good morning from a brightening Essex by the sea.
Food shopping this morning, we are going to try a new Lidl that opened last week very close to us.
We have decided to move our holiday to France from May this year to May next year. We've moved it once from last September. I had a lovely email from the man who owns the gite but it's obvious that the vaccine rollout there is almost non existent and there is no guarantee that France will let visitors from the UK into the country. I would rather leave it until restrictions everywhere are less strict.
DD2 had a meeting with her surgeon yesterday and he is pleased with her progress. The infection has gone but he says it will take at least 6 months for healing to take place. She is feeling positive but self conscious about the scarring. I do so want to give her a big hug?.

Morning Mick, morning All from a calm, wonderfully dry corner of Somerset. We’ve sunshine forecast for a few days, it will be garden time for me, really looking forward to it.

It’s Mr C’s birthday today, one of the two days in the year I bring him a cuppa to start the day. We’ve an NT walk booked, his favourite food is in the fridge, we’ll enjoy all we can.

Go gently bellasnana, today will be better I’m certain of it. Goodness scentia, well done for finding your father in law a safe place to be. Not an easy task. As you say something fishy. My parents were adults in East London during the war dwmx, the programme certainly illustrated many of the stories they told. Your walk with your Mum sounds to have been very special for you both.

An earlier good morning from me in Northampton, where it is clear and dry. Can usually turn over and have a bit more shut-eye, but was wide awake at 6.30am. Anyway, felt brave enough to pop out to the end of the drive in my dressing-gown with the food waste bin as no-one was about!

Sainsbury's delivery later this morning, and must wash the kitchen and bathroom floors. May have an hour in the garden this afternoon to tidy up a few more shrubs.

Had a phone call from the hospital yesterday; they have an appointment for an ECG for me on Saturday if I can get there. I checked with DD and rang them back to say ok. This dates back to my check-up with a GP a couple of months ago when she detected a heart murmur that I didn't know I had.

Knitted up the stitches around the neck of my jumper yesterday, but it looked messy, so I ripped it out and will have another go today.

Yesterday we enjoyed a lovely long walk but today I’m staying home and will be pottering in the garden and looking for signs of spring. I too love the purple and yellow spring bulb colours Ashcombe a lovely picture
So nice of you dwmxwg to spend time chatting with your mum, sadly my mum passed away 5 years ago but I still miss her even though we didn’t always get on, especially in her later years.

Had my jab yesterday afternoon, what a slick pice of organisation, my arm is slightly sore, but I sleep on that side. My friend was marshalling indoors, when I went in and gave my Christian name, the abbrev I use, she corrected it to the full length, sounded like my Mum!
Bathrooms today to be cleaned after a shower, my hair needs a colour, I’ve been using T/gel shampoo the last two weeks as, for the first time, I’ve got dandruff and itchy scalp, I’ll leave it another week before I colour. DH came in very tired and achy last night, first day of work for a couple of weeks, he slept well.

We have a new project.When my dad died nearly thirty years ago,mum to keep herself busy made beautiful dolls houses for my two daughters.She had never done anything like it before but they were a work of art.Our younger daughter has given us her dolls house to keep at our house for our DGD as she is worried our DGS will destroy it.DGD loves her mummy’s dolls house so I think she will be delighted to have her aunties here.We are going to ‘renovate’it so today will be choosing paint and wallpaper from The Dolls house Emporium.

Thanks for the chuckle this morning Beechnut - so true! I think that sums up how many of us are feeling.

Its our big day out today so I am feeling a little excited. It may be only to Tesco to get the click and collect but it is the only time we go out on a date! We are still obeying the rule to stay at home, due to our medical conditions so I look forward to this little outing as a treat.

Managed to pot up the Japanese maple yesterday. It was a Christmas present, along with a large pot, from DD and DSiL. Then I got handy with the secateurs and tidied up some other dead bits waiting to go in the garden rubbish bin. There's a real air of anticipation in the garden now and it's really good to see so much just waiting to burst forth.

Hope today is a good day for us all.

Having your hair done and time with the puppy will be just the tonic you need Bellasnana. I’m sure today will be better for you. ?

Good morning Mick and all to come. Still dark here in north Surrey, we are forecast a drizzly day today.
Yesterday’s visit to mum and dad started with a very miserable couple bickering with each other. Both had slept badly and dad’s prescribed cream was a measly 30g tube which won’t go far so he wasn’t best pleased. Thankfully mum agreed to have a little walk and then we sat in the sunshine for a while and it lifted her spirits. She had watched a programme the previous night about the blitz and was telling me her memories of the war. She was nearly 6 when war broke out and she can remember hearing Chamberlain announce the news on the radio. They lived in the suburbs and could see and hear the bombing from their bedroom window. Through a child’s eyes it was all quite exciting. Later in the war their house was bombed and mum was evacuated to a village near Leicester. She has such clear memories of those times and yet her short term memory is very bad now. So strange how the brain works.
We have the boys here, both still asleep despite the early morning dog alarm. Will need to wake them soon as they will be off to school. Collection this afternoon and another night here whilst DD works her night shifts.
DH has an optician appointment today. I have been nagging him to go for months, his glasses have crackles all over the lens, goodness knows how he can see anything. At last he is doing something about it.
For me laundry day and I may tackle the spare room which has become the dumping room, I know there are a few GNs who will empathise.

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and feels mild.
Off to work shortly to catch up on work I didn’t do yesterday as it was my day off.
Had a devil’s own job finding DFiL a new home as his SW called and said he had to be out by Monday as his home has been closed down. Something a bit fishy there I think!!
Anyway, we have one, it is a more expensive one at £750 a week but that just means his money will run out sooner, but they did tell me he should have been claiming Attendance Allowance for the past 3 years, something his current home have never mentioned?

Good morning from Malta where we are having lovely weather at the moment.

I didn’t get out for my walk yesterday. After bathing the dog and washing the floors I sank into despondency and wasted a lovely sunny day. I am so cross with myself.

Thank you for your lovely comments which had me in tears. Some days are a struggle even though I know how fortunate I am and should be counting my blessings.

Well, today’s another day. Hairdresser this morning so I have to go out whether I like it or not. After my hair I will collect DD3’s puppy and bring him home until 7.30 pm when she finishes work.
