Meghan and Harry. Has anyone changed their opinion post Oprah?

I guess all the people posting on here how it isn't racist to wonder what colour a baby's skin may be are white. So they have no right to claim it's not racist. Try asking someone who is black, most of them think it is. And it is.

American Black people care and talk about skin tone - a lot. Darker skinned people are often teased and bullied by other blacks, especially when they are kids.

I remember being told after soon I married my (first) husband, who was a black American, how 'pretty' our babies would be. When I was pregnant the baby's skin tone was discussed a few times amongst my in-laws. I recall it seemed as natural as white people wondering what color eyes their baby would have. Nothing racist at all about it.

I remember my former husband telling names for all the different skin shades/colors. It's been almost 50 years and the only one I remember is 'high yellow' which they called a 'black' person with very light skin.

He's not the sharpest tool in the box.

I didn’t watch it, but couldn’t avoid a clip on tonight’s news. Harry said he ‘was never going to share’ the conversation about any future child’s skin colour. So why share it?

We haven't "lost" them. They were never ours to begin with, although some seem to think they were.

I too didn’t know that everybody curtsied or bowed to the Queen indoors, I found out by watching the Crown when Princess Margaret and the Queen Mum curtsied. I was quite shocked. Why are the newcomers not shown basic protocol? I know the Crown is not strictly factual but one episode showed Lady Diana Spencer in a similar situation.
I have surprised myself really for reserving judgement and just hope that they are happy and can mend some relationships.

I think I did myself a favour b y falling asleep watching Coronation Sleep and only waking up to see the last few minutes of this "interview". This means have only seen a few clips so I know I haven't missed anything of this rather weird interview. Lets hope they will finally shut up now, stop whinging and get on with the luxurious lifestyle they have chosen for themselves.

Of course it is bonkers but even the most ardent republicans actually do it when it is expected - Cherie Blair was a prime example, she did a little bob, because she just couldn't avoid doing something.

Aparently the Queen couldn't care less whether it was a Cherie Blair little tiny bob or a Margaret Thatcher deep curtsey right down to the floor, but she has been so used to it for most of her life that a pointed refusal might appear offensive.

varian could have hit the nail on the head here. The Queen is a different generation to most of us, and certainly to Meghan. So a pointed refusal may very well seem offensive. I have sometimes wondered if Charles and Camilla will dispense with this rather dated idea when just with family privately, but I expect it will continue in public.

Two of their main troubles seem to have come from security and also the press. (I see the press issue isn't being aired on TV news). Harry, at the time of the split, said they wanted to be financially independent. They are wealthy enough to employ their own security team for himself and his family and couldn't expect officers to be flown across the Atlantic for ever.

There were some horrendous headlines flashed on the screen which would be upsetting, but Harry knows the RF does not control the press. That seemed to be what the Sussexes wanted by way of 'support.' I have seen the most appalling headlines about our RF in the States on the covers of magazines (whilst waiting in the supermarket queue on holiday in California). I wonder if they will go for the Duchess of Sussex in the same way, I doubt it.

On this we agree. I do think it odd that family members are expected to curtsy or bow to the Queen in private. If she’s mum or grandma, why would she want that kind behaviour privately? In public, it’s a different matter, it’s seen as respecting the role. But in private with family?

I have always had a bit of a soft spot for Harry and was pleased when he met Megan. However, after watching the programme I felt they came across as a very self centred couple. Him bleating on about not getting his security paid for - he had left the UK so why should we pay for his security? Prince Charles subsidized them - they are adults and should not have expected his father to bail them out. In a world where there is so much poverty and suffering I feel they need to stop bleating - yes, I am sure they have had upset and feel aggrieved but they have their health, wealth and a lovely little boy. They should count themselves lucky.

If they spent two years discussing with (or warning) the Queen that they were leaving, why was all that money spent on Frogmore Cottage? I wonder if Eugenie and family are making good use of the yoga studio.

I post some well known gossip about the Royal Family Exactly - gossip. It might be well known to you and others that trawl these sites looking for this stuff. So the stuff I’d find about M is also true then?

Four things struck me in particular (there were others but I’ll keep this brief) : that M&H said nothing about the really serious issues affecting their respective countries, and were totally concerned with themselves; that they knew that Harry’s family couldn’t and wouldn’t play their tit for tat game ; that their dishonest/manipulative bleating appealed to the US market that they are targeting; that anybody with an ounce of common sense wouldn’t make a judgment on one party’s version of events . (I think the biggest shock to me is that Hilary Clinton made her judgement on only half a story! I take back my view that she’d have been a better president than Trump!)

WTF? The accusations are that Meghan and Harry have brought the Royal Family into disrepute, I post some well known gossip about the Royal Family which I believe show they don't have much "repute" to bring down (and avoided the recent Andrew stuff, the Fergie cash for questions, etc) and you want to go straight back to bringing Meghan down ....
