Guts or gut as in "my guts are playing up today". I just get an image of wobbly, red intestines.

I can't stand "moist" either!
Another one is "sparky" as an electrician is known as these days.
My most hated sentence however is "it won't take you long to do that". My heart sinks every time I hear it!

Blossoming. I was curious about tetchy and find it was used by Shakespeare (Romeo and Juliet) comes possibly from old Scots and/or old French meaning a blotch or fault, tache or teche.
