Meghan and Harry. Has anyone changed their opinion after the interview with Oprah?

It doesn't look like they want to mend fences tbh, it looks more like they want to 'win'.

Apart from anything else I find it so hypocritical that these conversations are relayed to the media but Meghan has disowned her father for doing the same. I think I once posted at the beginning of the Meghan and her Dad saga that she wouldn’t be able to trust her Dad not to pass on any conversations or letters to the media so she’d be loathe to make contact. Here she is (with Harry) doing the same, but without the exact content. After veiled threats via her pals of saved emails etc it’s not conducive to mending fences is it?

Daisymae It's certainly loaded and whatever way I look at it they are all locked into a war of attrition. The spoils being what? Everyone's unhappiness?

When I first read about Harry and Meghan (2017?) one thing that struck me was how she’d been so sympathetic over his loss of his mother.

That rang a bell right back to Diana telling Charles how sad she’d felt for him when she watched the funeral of Mountbatten.

I suspected then patterns were being repeated and things wouldn’t end well - my money was on eventual estrangement but between Harry & Meghan not Harry and the royals.

As it seems that all conversations will be related to the press I imagine that personal contact between the families will be pretty close to zero. It's really an impossible situation for the royals. Can you imagine it 'they apologized! We were right all along!' Or 'William refused to apologize! We were right all along!' The narrative is definitely skewed.

I think she's very worried about the bullying investigation (with good reason) and perhaps H was trying to put pressure on William and Charles over that, and it didn't work.

I totally agree with your post @ 15.35 Lexisgranny. How can any member of the RF feel they can have an open and honest conversation with H if the content is then broad cast on CBS in America, by one of M's friends.

And some people wonder why others are of the opinion that coming between H and his family was always one of M's goals.

To be honest, watching this couple tear a family apart is soooooo upsetting.

I echo what others have said, how on earth can there be any progress as to building bridges when every conversation is relayed back to CBS to be shared with the world. Just terribly disloyal and talk about fanning the flames,

Gayle King reliably informs us that Meghan's showbiz friends attest to the fact as to how sweet she is. That may well be true, but that side of her character may not always play out in all relationships. I imagine she came to the set of "Suits" as an equal with her fellow actors, the staff at the palace were in a subordinate position to her and those are the ones, who allegedly felt they weren't treated very well.

That is so true. No one can possibly speak to them now for fear of whatever they say being broadcast to the world.
Does Harry fully understand what he’s doing I wonder. I’m certain Meghan understands, but what of Harry. He could easily end up completely estranged from his family. Is that what he wants?

Nobody can enter in to an honest and productive conversation when trust has been lost.

I just hope Meghan and Harry will keep quiet now they have aired their grievances to millions of people.

Clearly the Sussex's have nothing better to do. Is there any one other than myself now finding 'they said this /they said that' becoming, putting it mildly, a ' pain in the 'rear'?

EllanVannin I do wonder whether all this fuss is because they are trying to ensure that they do have something to do, things here had gone rather quiet, except the unusual re-hashes of previous stories. In this way, they are back on the front pages again, particularly in America. They have got to make themselves relevant enough to earn money. I think the whole business is getting tedious. That would surely be OTT Anniebach! But there again, maybe not.
Tickingbird it amuses me to count, when it gets near to 1000 posts. I’m not obsessed with saying the same thing over and over again, but . . .

The use of mud-slinging to justify your reasons for leaving is a pretty poor show and very cowardly to my mind.
What a sad pair that they won't let this go. Have they nothing else better to do ?
