Today in the shower I decided to shave my legs a tad better than usual due to spring being on it way ! smile
So instead as the usual quick up and down I used shaving gel and took my time going up all the leg all over a few times .
Then it was the armpits , did one and could see I wasn't doing a very good job , so did it again - still rubbish.
Had a good look at the razor - I hadn't taken the plastic safety guard off !

The actual daft thing was done a few days ago. I received a new bank card and in a separate letter a new pin for it. I followed the instructions, activated the card online, but when it came to reading the pin, I couldn't, it was all fuzzy. I finally phoned about it today. Long story cut short, I'd thrown away the bit of paper the pin was on and was trying to read the wrong bit. I felt a total fool or 'tube' as I called myself (common slang in Scotland). The call adviser was a fellow Scot, and couldn't have been friendlier, tried to reassure me that lots of people do this. I've had numerous new pins over the years, never done this before, hopefully never will again.

I’m doing silly things most days. The only comfort is knowing that I’ve done them!

Not today, but yesterday I thought I would bake a lemon drizzle cake as I had a fresh lemon available, only to discover I didn’t have enough caster sugar. Never mind, I’ll bake some bread instead. Kneading the dough happily, to then realise I hadn’t added the yeast, still sitting on the worktop! No bread flour left to start again.

I sang Happy Birthday by phone to my friend's hubby and she had it on loud speaker. I'm sure it sounded absolutely horrendous.

A couple of days ago I was half way to the supermarket when I realised I had left my mask at home! I now carry a spare in the glove compartment

grandtanteJE65 how clever you are. I’d never have thought of a laptop for a Barbie Doll!
I’m still laughing about the duck’s beak, sorry Jaxie.

The door bell rang early. I rushed to open the door and saw a lady with a box too big for the letterbox. No porch keys handy, so I opened the living room window and said, “I’m locked in, can you pass it through?”
In a lowered voice she said, “You’re locked in? Are you OK? Do you need any help?”
Red faced, I explained that the keys were upstairs.
Aren’t delivery people kind?

One of my frequent daft things....and an expensive mistake. I was working at my laptop with a perfect cup of tea. I reached for the phone and swept the tea all over the laptop. £284 later I have it back in working order. My first daft thing was when I was 24 and sat on a pair of scissors, I still have the scar.

Haven't done anything daft today yet, but the day before yesterday while giving the bathroom a thorough cleaning, I came across a little plastic case that had held toothpicks.

It was just the right size and opened the right way to make a laptop for a Barbie doll, so I stuffed it into my pocket and later put it down up here in my workroom.

Do you thihk I can now find the blasted thing?

You are quite right, I cannot!

I'm getting a lot of tidying up down in my efforts to find it.

Jaxie

Not me but my husband: I asked him to trim my topiary duck and he cut the beak off.

So sorry Jaxie, I know it will take ages to grow back but it did make me laugh. How could he?

It cheers me up no end to discover I'm not the only one!

At the bottom of the page you can click on to “acronyms” and it lists all the abbreviations.

Got myself presentable for a trip to the village post office to return a parcel. Arrived, got out of the car walked to the PO door - left the parcel at home! That was yesterday, can't wait to see what today will bring.

Shouting Happy Birthday and throwing kisses to my friend through the triple glazed doors of her care home to discover it isn't her birthday. Still she looked pleased to see me, even if I was a bit over the top. Roll on visits again.

We went down to the beach for the weekend and I forgot the face masks, only had one in my bag. I had to buy some- what a rip off. Up to now I had made them all myself from scrap materials.
BernieJ I think there is a section on ‘acronyms’ which might have some of those abbreviations. Top of the page on my device.

BernieJs Thu 18-Mar-21 11:16:29

Can someone give a list of meanings for the common abbreviations used on here? DD? DH? and there are others ... thanks and sorry for being utterly dim!

I do daft things quite often! Today I tried to use my nasal spray and nothing was coming out of it. I thought it couldn't be empty because I shook it and could feel that it was still nearly full. I pumped it and pumped it until the liquid ran out and ran down my hand from under the top, which I hadn't removed before spraying.

nipsmum Thu 18-Mar-21 11:14:52

I haven't done anything too daft today yet but there is still plenty of time left in the day.

Witzend Thu 18-Mar-21 11:14:44

Almost every day I spend ages looking for something I had in my hand 5 minutes previously. Or even 2 minutes.

The other day it was a card from our supply in a box file. I’d extracted 2 for dh to choose from, put down the one he picked, put the file away - where was the blasted card?

He eventually used another and I found the first one hours later, on top of the printer.

For out of bed ! Bound to go down hill from there smile
