Today in the shower I decided to shave my legs a tad better than usual due to spring being on it way ! smile
So instead as the usual quick up and down I used shaving gel and took my time going up all the leg all over a few times .
Then it was the armpits , did one and could see I wasn't doing a very good job , so did it again - still rubbish.
Had a good look at the razor - I hadn't taken the plastic safety guard off !

It was last night, but never mind.
Shortly before the end of a fairly long zoom session upstairs, where we were watching a niece’s ‘defence’ (so called) of her PhD thesis, I nipped down to turn the oven on to heat up for dinner. (Young’s frozen scampi).

Of course I’d forgotten that the remains of last night’s apple sponge pudding had been shoved in said oven, and pungent burnt smells were wafting around the kitchen.

It was very charred around the edges but dh did salvage and eat what could be saved.

Have just discovered, having had no need since Christmas to actually use it, that the new, lovely calendar starts the week on Monday rather than Sunday. Six damn emails out inviting folks to events I am planning, now that we are slowly unlocking, ALL six on the wrong date. Senior moment or what !!!

GrannyRose15 Thu 18-Mar-21 21:38:46

Put knives and forks out for lunch when we were having soup!!!

Bellanonna Thu 18-Mar-21 21:32:33

Thank you all for making me feel not so bad about myself.
Some of the comments are hilarious and Aepgirl, you are so right when you say the only comfort is knowing you’ve done something silly.
Welbeck that was awful for you. I hope you’ve got over the shock. I fell on the front steps a few days ago and the bruises are awful. I’m just grateful nothing was broken.

Grannynannywanny Thu 18-Mar-21 21:26:24

Sorry to read your post welbeck. You must be feeling really shaken up after falling. I hope you’re ok. Maybe you should have some paracetamol and an early night.

welbeck Thu 18-Mar-21 21:03:26

i fell over.
or, have i got to that stage, had a fall. felt like it. felt old and ungainly and out of control. and vulnerable. and alone.
no one offered help. took me a while to get up, not wanting to press down bleeding hands into dirt.
saw car headlights parking, but no action.
could have been a lot worse. but knocked me, inwardly as well.

We have a little oven and a bigger oven. Today I learnt that cakes don’t cook well in the one that isn’t switched on!

Moth62 it can be so scary. I suffered a brain injury almost 20 years ago. My intellect wasn’t affected, I managed to eventually return to work as a software developer and have had a very successful career. Unfortunately part of the brain that was destroyed was involved in the retrieval of information. I’ve learned various ways to cope with this and I do laugh about it now, but it was very frightening and I cried a lot. Sending some love your way flowers

Too many to mention. I feel lately as if my brain had gone on holiday and decided not to come back!!? I’m not sure if it’s age, or medication, or lockdown, or even the onset of dementia - or just a combination of all those things. It’s very worrying actually, although I do try and laugh about it. I was sitting reading these with tears rolling down my face and my husband wanted to know what was wrong!

I do something daft every day, as I have a cognitive deficit that affects my short term memory. I put things down in strange, illogical places and 20 seconds later I don’t remember where or why. My sunglasses, which are essential for me even on a dull day, turn up in very unexpected places, such as in the fridge grin

Yes yes yes.
Dear friends 40th wedding anniversary any day now. Had a special card, posted well in time then listening to Ken Bruce this morning talking about a Pearl anniversary ie 30 years I realised I’ve sent the wrong card. Doh!!

Searched High and Low for the small Black case, which holds my hearing aids, was sweating and stressed, as I was due at Doctors for a blood pressure check, but no joy, when I got back, I was telling my sister in law who had taken me, whilst making coffee, and she looked over her glasses and immediately pointed to my air fryer, where my case was on top of, in my defence they're both black, oh, and surprise, surprise my BP was high! Later in the day I walked into my airing cupboard, instead of my toilet, but I have only lived in my bungalow for a mere 6 years, losing the plot comes to mind!

Listening to my music whilst reading emails on computer I had headphones on and was singing along to the music out-loud but the reading part of the emails out loud along to the music - husband said he had sent a warning to neighbours regarding the singing. One of those oops moments.

look under acronyms

EMMF1948 Thu 18-Mar-21 15:10:25

Not today but worthy of a mention! I'd made leek and potato soup the day before, some of which was left in the pan, I also had half a carton of smoked haddock chowder in the fridge that I put in the microwave to heat for my lunch. While I was waiting I poured the spare leek soup into a bowl to go into the fridge. When the microwave pinged I took the carton out of the oven and poured it on top of the leek and potato, it didn't taste good at all!

Cleaned the bathroom tile grouting with bleach and an old toothbrush. Only just heard of this way of cleaning grouting and felt really smug that all the marks had gone. Then looked down at my favourite green cord trousers which are now ruined from splashes of bleach ! So sad ?

Grannynannywanny Thu 18-Mar-21 14:25:49

I had a craving for a ham and cheese wrap for lunch today. After looking forward to it, I was so disappointed while I was eating it. With every bite I thought “this cheese is tasteless”
I realised why when I went back to the kitchen and the cheese was still lying on the chopping board ?

Drove to old fashioned home bakers in village. Got out of car with face mask on and shopping bag in hand. I opened the shop door and walked in to see a woman sitting in an armchair. As I stood there perplexed she said “the bakers is next door hen”!
In my defence the doors were the same colour!!confused

A friend of mine had great difficulty driving to work one day, couldn't see properly. Once she got there a quick trip to the bathroom revealed that she had put both contact lenses in one eye!

Thank you for starting this thread, Hellesbelles. I needed a good laugh. This from the OH.
“That was a really nice vegetarian pizza, apart from the meat.”

Oh yes. Still reeling from my robotocism. Lost a sock whilst dressing this morning. After searching intensely I despaired until I eventually removed the 'other' one. Hey presto, I had only put one on top of the other. Trying to excuse myself in that I was telly watching intermittently but still find it hard to believe I did this (somewhat difficult) thing. Jeepers!

Quite regularly try to turn the TV off with the telephone.
