Hoping little Henry has a lovely day Susan for his 18 month milestone, what a tough time he’s had poor lamb but hopefully better from now on.
I’m just in from the garden as the rain ☔️ has arrived, DH is busy in the kitchen making something yummy to eat ..
Maybe Lara will reply tomorrow soop I hope so anyhow ...
sounds like you’ve all had another lovely afternoon Urms, time for relaxing now, you deserve it ?

I popped in to make sure Maw’s sad news had been shared. It’s so good to see the love and support here for Maw. I remain upset and well, angry, that Maw is not allowed on this forum.

Hattie was so loved and such a wonderful companion. The space in Maw’s home and heart will be huge. The last loving thing we can give our four legged companions is to be eased and aided out of this life. God Bless Hattie and love to you Maw ??

Welcome to all new arrivals in the kitchen.

It's been a day of slow walking around the woods with Mya and a few short pilates sessions on my mat with instructions from some YouTube videos. MrM says "Those instructors all look the same". Yes - size 10 smile

About two hours sleep last night. Sciatica pain very bad but I'm to blame. Got up at 4 am to walk, stretch and take painkillers.

Took some photos of the sleepers we are asking to be replaced. Two are parallelograms and one measures 225mm (H) when it should be 200mm. Can't have wonkey raised beds.

TV night. A few of our favourites. Catching up with a few other threads until then easy dinner, courtesy of Sainsbury's.

Hope everyone's tucked up warm and cosy. Take care.

Welcome JustMe good to see you in our friendly kitchen
I have adult children but not grandchildren, it matters not in here. ?

JustMe Sun 28-Mar-21 18:24:05

Thank you!

Seems like a fun place to hang out! ?

Welcome JustMe to the kitchen.
I’m not surprised there’s no reply from admin, the site was down this morning first thing for a few hours, not seen any explanation.
Anyway, a not done much day here, washing, read the rest of yesterday’s paper, prepped dinner and planned a tidy up tomorrow of the various pots in the garden. I’d hoped to see DD and GC’s this week after school in the garden, but as eldest is in isolation, no can do. Hope your aches and pains ease muse enabling a better nights sleep.soop a right palaver with the furniture, good job the weather held.
Have a gentle evening all, Maw?

Welcome Just me we are a friendly bunch here.
If anyone could soften the hard hearted GNHQ it would be you soop. I sent them 3 emails but to no avail. I so wish we could have Maw back.
TOYA ?

Evening lovely peeps. Well, chasing that hour today has made me feel quite irritable. Then to be unable to access Gransnet at all until about 10am (was it?).

Glad that you enjoy Big Little Lies, Urms. We watched it ages ago and recommended it to anyone who’d listen. Very enjoyable. I recently watched Little Fires Everywhere which starred and, I think, was produced by Reece Witherspoon. Different style but still enjoyable.

Gosh, is it a year since I first spoke to you Susan? Nice to see that a fairly fragile baby boy has turned into the whirlwind that is Henry. Of course you still have your worries, but at least he’s bigger, stronger and able to let you know how he feels. Imagine him tucking into Waffles and ice cream. Who’d a thought? ?

Welcome JustMe - do let us know the area where you live - it’s nice to place people and helps us remember their ‘doings’

Here in the S of France it’s been another wonderful day. Wall to wall blue skies and warm breezes. Should have/could have done lots of laundry but the weather is set fair for the foreseeable and sometimes, well often, it pays to do something more interesting than day to day chores. DH is currently making lovely tenderloin of pork in honey and cider and soy sauce after treating it to a spice rub. Something to look forward to - a later supper today.

Yesterday I made Bagg’s lovely Flapjacks. Well, apart from the silliness of my crushing all the nuts and seeds etc., by hand - rather than using a machine because DH was watching something interesting on t.v. - I was very happy with it all. They are delicious. They should be called EBTKS Flapjacks : Everything but the Kitchen Sink, with all that array of ingredients.

Was it on here I read about GrannySomerset’s Granddog being put to sleep? I’m so sorry, your family must be very sad indeed. It’s like a door closing on one phase of your life, I think.

Soop dear, the tales of derring-do with the suite and the ottoman are just the thing for a sunny day. Imagine if the rain had set in! You are such a love to try to intercede on Maw’s behalf. Don’t want to come across as a real cynic but I do feel that it’s not just that times they are a changin’ - I think that you’re looking in completely the wrong place for some milk of human kindness. Deaf ears completely! I think it’s true that if you have to exhort people to be kind, to show compassion - well, it’s all rather pointless. Always makes me laugh when we’re the ones being told to Be Kind. What irony!

It’s too soon for you to feel anything but numb, Maw but at least you know that you cared more than anything for her. And we care so much for you and want you to feel better and stronger. A big hug from me.

You are naughty, muse and you are to blame. But at least you try to do something about it. So sorry for your pain - you are keen to get the job done and it’s easy to forget what follows. I am now banned. No, the up-to-date story is that I’ve banned myself from carrying heavy watering-cans. What for, my DH, says? He offers, I have access to a hose and sprinklers and a tiny ladylike can to decant all the water I need. But since I have stopped playing about with heavy cans, the pain is not often there. Replaced by a foot problem of course, but that’s another old age story! ?

dusty I can’t make the link either between you needing some work on your eye/s and a Dermatologist review, but doubtless all will be revealed when you see him soon. Sometimes it’s not the foreign language which gives the problem it’s the weird way that explanations are or aren’t given which drive us all into a loop, eh? Good luck with your appointment.

I was moved by what you said about losing animals, Jax. I can certainly see you were angry. I felt much the same, but the way you explained your feelings as a non-animal owner about people not getting support was lovely. Well, lovely to me.
Good luck with a bit of tan. I think we all feel better without the ‘milk bottle’ legs and white arms once the sun arrives. I try to get some colour early in the year here, otherwise it’s all too hot for me to sit in it. This morning, it took just 20 minutes of sun-assisted Vit.D., outside to have some colour. I made sure I had factor 50 on my nose and cheeks - don’t want to have to crumble under the beady eye of my Dermatologist when she gives me my annual once-over later on in the year ! That woman can locate a mark on my skin from about 50 paces - but I’m grateful for it.

Have a lovely evening everyone. Feet up, a cuppa, a glass, some chocolate, r e l a x. Keep safe. Big hugs x

JustMe Sun 28-Mar-21 18:43:56

Thank you ?

Just getting used to the fact it is light outside and getting towards 7pm. I'm all discombobulated!

Grandmafrench Sun 28-Mar-21 18:47:33

After that epistle - thoughts, hugs and concern to the Panaches. X. Also, how is lovely Izabella? Is it perhaps time for Kate to give us a quick up-date. Please?

JustMe Sun 28-Mar-21 18:48:35

Grandmafrench.. thank you... I am in the South West UK.
?

Jaxjacky Sun 28-Mar-21 18:58:28

You’re not the one JustMe more or less missed Countryfile. Thanks Grandmafrench simmering still.

annodomini Sun 28-Mar-21 19:54:44

soop, I don't give much for your chance of a reply from Lara. I sent her an email when Maw was banned, giving what I thought were good reasons for reversing the decision. Not a word have I heard in response.

Callistemon Sun 28-Mar-21 20:00:58

Always makes me laugh when we’re the ones being told to Be Kind. What irony!

Grandmafrench how apt that is!
I dare say no more except to say that I hope your plea is successful, soop and that compassion prevails.

JustMe I'm sure you will receive a warm welcome here. I don't post often (can't keep up!) but the kitchen is a lovely place to be especially in these troubled times.

soop the shenanigans with your furniture reminded me of the last time we moved house when some of our furniture had to be taken out into the back garden, lifted over the fence and carried up next door's drive! It's a long story grin

Marydoll Sun 28-Mar-21 20:02:11

I am another one, who emailed GN about Maw, weeks ago and got no response.
Certainly not in the spirit of what GN claims to be. sad

Susan56 Sun 28-Mar-21 20:14:13

Happy friendiversary Grandmafrench?? or?if you prefer.x

Iam64 Sun 28-Mar-21 20:28:56

I also emailed and messaged asking the life ban be lifted. It just seems crazy

JustMe Sun 28-Mar-21 20:42:32

Callistemon
Thank you!

kittylester Sun 28-Mar-21 20:46:30

Just popped in to see how everyone is today. Not brilliantly, it appears. I too hope maw can be allowed back in. We seem to have lost so many posters lately.

Today is Persie's 8th birthday so we had a lovely chat with her until Wolfie got hold of the phone and started pressing buttons! The photo is one our presents to her.

We also talked to DD2 and the girls and DD1 is coming next weekend.......unless it snows!!

We also had the brilliant news that DD3 is moving into the next village to us.

Welcome justme, we are lovely especially if newcomers bring cake.

Wondering how galen and panache are.

TOYA

brook2704 Sun 28-Mar-21 22:21:02

Awww what a lovely photo kitty!
A very warm welcome to justme so pleased you’ve joined us

dustyangel Sun 28-Mar-21 23:03:13

kitty I’m whispering cos DH thinks I should turn my iPad off earlier. I’m guessing that you mean that you gave Persie her dress, she is so pretty and it looks gorgeous on her, a lovely colour. Is that Wolfe in the background?

Nannytopsy Mon 29-Mar-21 00:11:21

I’m so late, so I expect you are all fast asleep!
Welcome JustMe and don’t worry about the history in the kitchen. There are lots of long termers here but they are very friendly and you’ll soon catch up! As Kitty said, people who bring cake are always popular ?.
I should’ve asleep - we have DGC tomorrow for the day. Their parents hadn’t realised they broke up on Friday. Honestly!!
Sleep well everyone
