My eldest turns 50 this year. Oh my. Where did all those years go? Sure makes me feel ancient. My eldest grandchild is 27, youngest is 2. I have this theory that you can’t pin down and measure time. It definitely goes faster the older you get.

My oldest will be thirty in June, my second will be twenty-eight at the end of April and my youngest will be twenty-five tomorrow. It seems unbelievable; I am sure l was twenty-five only two years ago!

My children are 40, 37, 35. Grandson is 2 and half.
We’re been married 43 years. Both only children, we imagined we’d have lots of grandchildren. To extend our very small family.
But unless circumstances change dramatically, I think our gs, will be our one and only.
Funny how life turns out.

So sorry to read the posts from Grans who have lost children.
Worrying about Grandchildren having children early is only because you know it's not the best way of doing things everything comes out in the wash. Every child planned or unplanned becomes a special person in the family we are grateful for.

*annsixty*, I think the generation, who like the Queen, can have man, or even any GGC, is going to be short lived. The current flush of great grand children is the product of early marriages and family formation in the 1960s and 70s, and increased longevity. But now the average age for a first child is over 30.and many of us are not becoming grandparents until our late 60s and 70s.

Assuming this does not change, I will probably have to live into my late 90s, if not reach 100, before I become a great grandmother.

Scarily i am dreading bucking the trend. My kids are 32, 30 and 24 GCs 2 age 11 and 5 and 3.
My biggest fear is the 11 year old cousins who always both do the opposite of what they are told end up having a baby as young as me or their respective parents (one of the mothers was 16). If that were to happen i would become a freat grandparent age 54. Oh no my bigger fear is they behave like the Dingles on Emmerdale or the Royal Family of old and have a baby with each other.
This is a genuine concern for me.
