Paul and I sadly missed out when a number of years ago, he actually visited my village and 2 of the pubs and even went and had a meal at my dentists'house before going to another pub where he played "Hey Jude " for the first time in public on the pub piano!
I got home from school the day after, to be greeted by my mum who told me - did you know Paul McCartney was in the village last night ?
Story is that he and some friends were travelling along the M1, got bored and just picked a place at random from a map book just for a bit of variety!

After much soul searching Paul gets it because of his melodies ( and his eyes?)

Paul always was and always will be.

They were a great group, but Paul for me.

Probably Ringo, nowadays. He looks amazing for 80!! I used to be keen on John and George back in the 60s/70s. (Always thought Paul was a bit soppy.) But then eventually I realised they were hypocrites. All that stuff about peace and love and material possessions not mattering, when they were both multi millionnaires in mansions with a dozen cars, and John had a violent personality.

John, I wept buckets when he was killed.

Definitely George!

It was always Paul for me, and still is.

George. I never fancied Paul, too girly-looking for me. I’ve always preferred a Proper Bloke. ?

Sara I read something along the lines of this; that without Ringo there wouldn't have been The Beatles, they just wouldn't have been able to work together. Ringo was everyone else's best mate and he kept the show in the road.
I've always remembered that, and I think that it applies to quite a few group dynamics.

Fanny
Although Paul is my one true love, my husband is aware of this, I do agree to some extent. I don’t think he’s actually done anything amazing after his Beatle days.
John I think was probably living off Yokos talent, George seemed like a really sweet person, but Ringo, nobody’s favourite, seems to have stood the test of time best of all.

George

Kandinsky Fri 09-Apr-21 07:55:05

Thanks FC I’ll definitely check it out smile

I really recommend the Craig Brown book Kandinsky, I think that you'd enjoy it a lot.

Tbh, the Beatles were a bit before my time too as I was only 7 when they split up, so I knew them more from their solo work. But as I got older I listened more to their music and absolutely loved it.
But in terms of ‘good looks’ it was always going to be George.
Can’t believe he was only 58 when he died.

George Harrison for me. I was checked him in for a flight back in 1973 and got his autograph. He was utterly charming

Ooh, lucky you Cwm
He would have been in his prime then. Was he very swoony?

I am very surprised by this, I thought Paul was everyone’s favourite!

I think that the answers may be a little bit skewed because of George's untimely sad death. He will remain young and beautiful. He never had the chance to do anything annoying or embarrassing.

I think Paul was very popular, but has become a bit annoying and embarrassing. If he had died young he very may have won the GN Most Lovely Beatle competition.

(I'm not bringing the Faul conspiracy theory into it - although I do find if fascinating!)

John was never going to cut it despite dying young. He wasn't a particularly likable character (to say the least).

Although I voted for George, had I been a teenager at the time I would have favoured Ringo or John, depending on my age.

George for me aswell. They are before my time (I hate that expression!) but I've loved The Beatles since I became aware of music. My Dad was / is really into the early stuff, and I prefer the later stuff.

In his brilliant book 'One Two Three Four', Craig Brown says that they represent the four elements:
John is fire
Paul is water
George is air
Ringo is earth

Grandmafrench Fri 09-Apr-21 00:01:53

Oh, go on then - we all need some treats in these hard times. I'll just put "My Sweet Lord" on repeat and think how very sad it is that he's gone. ???

Kate1949 Thu 08-Apr-21 23:54:24

No Grandmafrench I won't share. Put me on the norty step and I'll dream of George.

Grandmafrench Thu 08-Apr-21 23:40:53

Kate if you're going to go all proprietorial over 'your George' and just won't share, it'll be the Norty step for you.....and no film. So, think on! ?
