I`ve just had a message to say that I`ve passed the home check, and Billy is ours! We just have to arrange when we can have him. I`m chuffed to buggery! Ooo, is that term allowed on here?

Unusually busy day here, good though. We finally sorted a replacement car, not available for a while but it’s sorted, no matter, a weight has lifted. Had a remarkably mild and not windy walk along our sea front with a cuppa in a sheltered spot people watching and looking out to sea. Bliss.

If the weather gods are kind a walk with most of the family tomorrow. I’m really looking forward to it, a major treat.

I think I`ve got a cat! Nothing definite, but it sounds promising. This morning I applied to the Cats Protection League to adopt a cat called Billy. The lady rang me later to say that she`d googled where I live and had no problems with it, she then gave me a detailed account of Billy`s history. She asked me to send photos of the inside of the house, the areas where Billy would be able to go, also the back yard, which I have done, now I`m waiting with bated breath to find out if he`s going to be mine or not.

I do have a few grey hairs at the front but not many. I must admit, I’m surprised I have kept my hair colour into my 70s. I’m quite pleased because they grey hairs I have are really wiry and not easily tamed. ?

I thought maybe short, grey and permed! In my head.

I’m a bit later into the kitchen. Himself had walked round to the cricket club to watch with our son in law our boy wonder at practice (‘hi grandad’!). We had decided to eat on his return so at 7pm I was ‘pan-frying’ steaks (sounds more professional doesn’t it?) to go with baked potatoes, fried onions (it’s the law in this household with steaks) and peppercorn sauce. Delish. Himself is just washing up. Sorry for him, pans and all. Then he wants to watch the Leicester football match.

I think my hair belongs on 2 people’s heads. One side flips outwards, and one side turns under. Hairdresser says it’s not so unusual but she has a devil of a time making it match.

Tried to post a photo of my new hair do on the good morning thread but had problems. Think the size was too big. Photo - not my head + hair do.

There is a tale to tell though:

An almost disastrous disappointing day at the hairdressers yesterday. Hair washed and after 3" being snipped off and layered slightly, she said "Shall I waft the hair drier over it or do you want to dry it at home? Apparently the booking had been put down for just wash and trim. I do vary it. Sometimes just a trim. Other times the full monty. Any way, she found a few mins (next lady waiting) and after a quick waft with the hair drier and a twirl with the brush, I walked out with dry hair.

MrM took the photos when I got home. Looks a little windswept I'm afraid.

Hello from a tired muse. Tired but content. Had a wonderful afternoon at Enys Gardens today. Really perked me up. Being away from home makes to easy to put aside worries.
I sat outside in the courtyard with a freshly made savoury crepe before my walk. Lady making them filled it to overflowing. They've had two street food vans in until the tea rooms open up fully but I hope they stay. Photos do not show the magnificence of the gardens. Mya loved the new smells.

Happy birthday MrUrmston. Glad someone likes marzipan? It's all too much for me, this talk of cake. I've set myself a goal to loose a stone. Squeezing into my clothing is not doing me any good, mentally and physically. Poor knees + hip. Determined not to buy larger size.

I've cut out alcohol too except for weekends. G+T tonight though. Friday night counts as the start of the weekend

Well the week is over and no news from dear son about a new job and what the hospital say about granddaughter. I daren't count the weeks but it must be over a month without a wage coming in. Perhaps the interviews (or one of them) were successful this week and he's still to get in touch.

Rain due tomorrow here. I plan to get my new book open again and see if there are any more strawberries to pick in my polytunnel.

Henry woke up full of energy after his nap.We have just got home taking him home, we swapped him for DGD who has come for a sleepover.We have had several heavy hail showers this afternoon,Henry was not impressed as he couldn’t go outside!

I have to say I have never met a cake I didn’t like although as I am diabetic cakes are a treat for high days and holidays only☹️
