it turns out that the publicity shy couple were so keen on privacy that they didnt even want the £38 million wedding we were forced into paying for them, blimey, they could have said something earlier, like before the public coughed up a fortune for security, A list celeb guests and more melodrama than an x factor sob story, they are now claiming they wanted none of that because " it didnt feel like their day ", but they went through it anyway, bless em. They told Oprah that they actually had a private exchange of vows three days before, just the two of them were present as well as the archbishop of canterbury - perfectly normal behaviour, , now that they have aired all their laundry in public to the whole world, they are off to work on that private life they claim to crave, At least until the next big interview comes up

There is gossip, speculation, meanness and much else about both famous names and other posters on the politics threads too suzie but you join in with your comments on them, so why is this thread different for you? Why do you and a few others root so strongly for H and M as if they are a pair of saints?

I am going out in a minute but just for the hundredth time, I do not root for harry and or Meghan.

I’ve explained myself before. I have found the endless repetitive threads weird and so catty but I know I’ll be told I’m wrong so that’s fine.

This, exactly this.
It isn’t about seeing m and h as ‘saints’ ??. It’s a response to the seemingly endless unpleasant, nasty gossipy speculation.

Lollin Mon 03-May-21 13:06:46

It’s very sad really, because some people cannot get over the decision made by two people.

Anniebach Mon 03-May-21 13:04:30

So wrong to criticise Meg and Harry but acceptable to mock
posters, Whitewave one of the first on this thread to mock
me.

Why don’t critics of this thread keep mocking Carrie what’s her name.

Yet another effort to get this thread closed as they have with previous threads

I think we should have a wooden spoon award, for fun you understand!grin

Any guesses who would win today?

Nice one suziewoozie ..... enough for one poster on a GN thread to ask me a bit more about my knowledge of royalty..... or did you miss that thread?

(I'm back, sorry)

It was me, yet again!
Yes, I enjoy reading about the Royal family and all of their shenanigans.
I am particularly enamoured with the pre- WW2 period.
I've recently been reading a fair bit about Wallis Simpson.

BTW the ‘trending on GN’ list is just the most recent threads to have a new post.

It changes all day.

erm.....yes, I know.

That's why it was funny.

Or maybe not. ?

Because they are portrayed by their detractors as devils maybe?

It was me. Mea culpa. I told Lucca about this thread on another thread.
Once again I was 'having a laugh'.
I'll behave myself now and leave you to get on with it.

Yes just get off this thread, now ????

Elliane so far can't see anyone being horrible.
fanny So true a family event - but I may be the one quietly sat in the corner sipping my gin.

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 03-May-21 12:51:45

Has anyone seen the programme on Discovery + Called Meghan and Harry, Recollections May Vary ?

We don’t have the Discovery Plus Channel, maybe some of our American GNers can comment on what happened. I think it aired over the weekend.

Asking for a friend ?

I agree Elliane although expect them to ask HQ to remove your post as they hate any suggestion of staying away from a thread they don’t like.?
Why do they post horrible comments? I have my own theories on that.
Yes Earnshaw all that you say is true, and I very much doubt that H and M are done yet, because actually they don’t really want a quiet life at all, they need to be noticed.

Who on earth would have that comment removed ? It’s nothing to do with guidelines.

Do share your theories.

Ok I’ll go.

Methinks someone’s feeling a bit sore and hard done by because of a deletion elsewhere. ?

Ellianne Mon 03-May-21 12:48:59

I don't think the Pope is a celebrity is he?
I'm not sure but don't you have to secure tickets to attend a papal mass?

FannyCornforth Mon 03-May-21 12:46:44

lemongrove erm, yes. I am (probably was now) having a laugh.

Why are some posters so horrible to Annie and to me (and to earnshaw here) on these threads? I can accept you have different opinions on the subject but your contributions add nothing and just provoke dissent.
If you are not interested, please go away!

And I only came on GN to post a photo of my long coastal path walk, so I am certainly not sitting around waiting for the next M & H thread like some.

and what do your contributions add might I enquire? These threads are showcases so often for gossip, speculation, meanness and much else. Some of us come on here to challenge such posts and redress the balance. And just stop telling us to go away, it’s really not acceptable and as a strategy it’s a massive fail

Serious question ..... why were you notified about a thread on a subject you clearly dislike Lucca?

It was in the nature of fun. Don’t blame me.

I had to google it (glutton for punishment) and indeed, yes, there was some event in LA last night. About vaccines. And you know what, the Pope spoke there! And President Biden! Is there no end to this celebrity culture?

Amazingly nobody seems to have mentioned any weddings....

I should watch out Alegias, you'll be inundated with info about H&M and all royal paraphernalia in your inbox from now on!
I shall come to you for all the latest gossip. That way my inbox will stay free of itgrin

Alegrias1 Mon 03-May-21 12:45:07

Fortuitous arrangement of topics in the Trending box.....

^At least Alegrias is on the right lines with her comment about this all pervasive celebrity culture.^

That was sarcasm. confused I don't think the Pope is a celebrity is he? I can't keep up these days.....

Of course he's a celebrity -he has the Popemobile.!

When I saw the title I thought maybe something had happened, wasn't that stupid of me!!
