Have you always lived in the same town/city?

No, I haven’t always lived in the same country either.

We moved from town to a village and absolutely love it. We enjoy what it and the other surrounding villages have to offer and we are not to far from a town, so it is the best of both worlds for us. Not for everyone but it is right for us.

15 house moves - different town, different countries - exhausting, stressful but loved it all.

Oh no, not for me.
From leaving home at 20, living in bed sits, flat shares ( in around southeast London) to moving to Southend, getting married ( 10 yrs)
Buying and living on our first boat for 5 years then second one for 15 yrs. This boat we spent a year on the french canals and rivers through to the Mediterranean.
Time for change so we went into property for 5 yrs.
Got that sorted so decided to move to Bulgaria.
While there we went to Germany to buy motohome to travel round Europe.
Finally we we settled in Southend which I always think of as my home town.
We still have conversations about doing something new ?

I left home at seventeen and have lived in five different foreign countries and assorted places in this country. I ended up back almost on my old doorstep, for practical reasons, and have not felt inclined to leave since.

Have had 18 addresses since getting married 49 years ago..including 6years in various places in South Africa, 1year in Libya, H has worked all over the world so got to go stay with him in some beautiful places....

Born in Kent and always lived in London/SE London areas until we moved to just outside Bristol 40 years ago.

Until 20 years ago hadn't lived in the same area for longer than 5 years - 1 year in Devon, 3 years in Germany, 3 years in Singapore, 4 years in Cheshire, 5 years (and 3 addresses) in London, 2 years in Norfolk, 2 years in California, 2 years in Sydney, 4 years in Hertfordshire, 1 year in Sussex, and now over 20 years in Surrey. 1 more move to go next year (hopefully). Plus a couple of short stints in South Wales (under a year each time). In case it's not obvious I had a military family ?

I lived in the inner city until we moved in 1962 to the outskirts. It was an estate built on farm land on the outskirts of a village. I once moved five miles away and was homesick so I moved back. I live less than a mile away from my family home and it's built up a lot over the years with various housing. It's a nice enough area we are across the road from woods. There is still farmland in the area maybe I am not adventurous but I am happy here it's familiar.

I live about 5 miles from where I was born (at home).

I used to work in the village where I attended primary school, and now live in the market town where I attended grammar school, and I worked there when I first left school.

Not for everyone, I realise, but I like seeing people around me that I have known all my life.

Always lived in Wales, in five counties

I have lived all over the place. Born in London and went to school there. Lived in Lancashire whilst at uni. Moved to Kenilworth then emigrated to Australia in my early 20 s. Lived in Victoria, then Tasmania then back to Victoria and different parts of Melbourne. We have lived in our current house the longest of any, since 1992. There are some places I know I could never live. Perth in WA is one of them and probably not Sydney,either.

I've always lived in the same county, but have moved from the bottom to the top in increments.
We are in a big town with the sea and countryside a short drive away. Best of both!!

It’s interested me seeing various posters on here saying they moved to the seaside. Where did they/you go? I can’t think where I’d go (that I can afford!). Do you go to big seaside towns or little villages?? Aren’t they bleak in winter? My ex late MiL lived on flamborough cliffs. It wasn’t nice most of the time.

I've always lived in Birmingham and I love it. Mind you, a friend, who moved from here some years ago to a coastal town, said to me yesterday on the phone 'I worry about you living there' Cheeky so and so.

I wish! Not even same country let alone same city as my father was in the RAF. 17 schools attended so that gives some idea of my peripatetic upbringing! I’ve lived in 3 different areas of Scotland since marrying but in 8 different houses.

My daughter went travelling at 24 for 6 months. I always envied her. Maybe when mum has gone (she’s 99 so I’m not being mean!) I might do that. Scratch the itch.

I can’t imagine always having lived in the same place. My folks moved area a few times times when I was young, and since then I think I’d have a job to remember all the many different addresses - at least four of them abroad.

Having said that, though, we’ve been in this house since 1987 and have no plans to move.

In many ways I think it must be nice, though. As a child and young person I was never able put down proper roots anywhere. Dh OTOH lived in the same house until he left for university, so in spite of many years overseas he still has roots in that area - not far from where we live now.

Lived within NW London all my life had a small hankering to live by the sea but it was never going to happen. Wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

I honestly think it depends on the village, the one I live in now is actually quite supportive and community driven but I did live in one where EVERYONE had an opinion on your business even if they knew F all about you. I am not going to elaborate on this but I found it quite an upsetting and frustrating experience.

Peasblossom and Oopsa Totally agree with your comments. We moved from a busy town to a village and it is like stepping back in time. So boring and I often feel suffocated.

I have lived all over the place city, town, coast and country I have never lived abroad because of the commitments with my daughter and her care

I was born in a city, have lived in three different towns and now live in the countryside. But all of them in Devon. I would like to have spread my wings further. I would still like to move to a different part of the world.

I was born in a hospital in Sheffield, lived in 2 places near Barnsley till I was nearly 13, then moved to Rochdale in Lancashire, lived there and in Heywood till I was 34, when we moved over to Lincolnshire. I`ve been in and around Boston ever since, 44 years in all. Can`t see me moving anywhere else now, although I once had a yen to live in Turkey.
