and ate bread shock not me, Gwyneth Paltrow. Clearly I've been off the rails practically all my life.

Has anything sent you off the rails in the past 12 months? apart from reading the endless drivel spouted by a number of well known individuals quirky little statements such as that from the Goddess of Goop grin

Re-discovered sliced white bread recently when it was prescribed as part of a diet before a medical procedure. Yummy toasted. I've unconsciuosly uncoupled from GnT, just lost the taste for it during lockdown. Sad.

Sago I wish you lived next door! Thanks for cheering up my morning!

Yes my newly adopted rescue cat. Really - I went off the rails because she found a hole behind the toilet I didn't know was there and I have hollow walls so that the space between can be filled with glass fibre to keep the heat in. It goes the full length of my bathroom and the bathroom in the next door flat. She stayed in there for 3 weeks (of the rails yes) and I had to get the RSPCA to get her out. We didn't realise where she was for a week (so no food) then we started putting food out in the bathroom at night. The cat trap got her and we had borrowed a cage in the sitting room to put her in so she could settle. I was so distressed my daughter sent me to stay with a friend in Dorset for a few days whilst she looked after drama queen Mimi.

A particular granula bar which arrives fresh each morning in my local Co-Op corner shop.

Fish finger sandwiches on white buttered bread with ketchup. Requires a bit of kitchen roll to catch the drips. Yummy. I mean proper frozen fish fingers, not the ‘posh’ type.

Insanity in triplicate. I love it. Thanks all.

I ‘ve had a problem with cream because having learned to make sauces during lockdown meant I was buying cream and then having it with other things: in coffee etc. Yes and Wensleydale and cranberries. Usually a Christmas treat and eaten in the blink of an eye. Usually with digestive biscuits.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 12-May-21 18:53:17

Bread butter and jam is my weakness or crackers and pate if there is any in the house.

My absolute favourite is bread jam and clotted cream, but rarely buy cream so that is very infrequent.

Urmstongran Wed 12-May-21 18:49:19

These. ❤️

And malt whisky. Started enjoying pre-Christmas with my (Scottish) stepfather. A wee dram or two some afternoons has really hit the spot.
Time to kick the habit now I think.

Summer weather = gin & tonic with ice and a slice anyway ha!

One food I can't ration is Wensleydale with cranberries. I am quite capable of eating it like a piece of cake, just one little bit then another and sometimes it's gone by the next day. I don't buy it often!

At first I did go overboard for choc chip cookies, dunked in hot chocolate. How decadent was that? But I eventually found that chocolate left a nasty taste - even the good stuff. I'd put on a lot of weight and have now taken it off again.

Lucca Wed 12-May-21 17:25:04

I have no restraint. If I have chocolate (or dark chocolate covered ginger ice cream ....or biscuits ....or gooseberry fools....the list is endless ) in the house then I no longer have them after one evening.
When you live on your own there’s nobody to see how greedy you are....?

foxie48 Wed 12-May-21 17:18:43

Dark chocolate ginger biscuits from Morrisons! OH found them in boxes of six on Amazon and I became addicted! I have managed to kick the habit and have shed the 7lbs of chocolate ginger that gathered round my middle but I won't give up the home made bread OH makes. Life has to have some meaning and bread is the staff of life, after all!

I baked a French loaf for my Granddaughter today so I am complicit in her going off the rails. I this child abuse?

grannysyb Wed 12-May-21 17:05:14

DH and I have just shared the crust from the loaf we made this morning, he had jam and I had honey!

Puzzler61 Wed 12-May-21 17:03:10

Puzzler61 Wed 12-May-21 17:02:54

DH did most of the shopping during the past year and I hold him responsible for all the pecan maple Danish pastries I have eaten as he kept coming home with them although they weren’t on the lis the went with.
We have both been off the rails.
If he goes to another well know supermarket he brings pecan and butterscotch icing danish twists which are heavenly but highly calorific.
I’m not sure when we will get back on the rails ?
But Gwyneth - she takes it all to a different level completely.

I’ve cut out the brandy as well, but that’s another story.....

You mean you've consciously uncoupled from the brandy Maybee

?

I think I'll couple with a ? tonight

MayBee70 Wed 12-May-21 16:38:59

Well, I’ve not eaten bread for several days now and I’ve drastically reduced what I’m eating, mainly because I’m not feeling hungry. I do think bread does something to blood sugar levels. I’ve cut out the brandy as well, but that’s another story.....

AGAA4 Wed 12-May-21 16:35:29

There were times when I haven't eaten bread but only because my routine didn't allow for it. How miserable to deny yourself something you enjoy eating.

Callistemon Wed 12-May-21 15:58:07

TerriBull

I'd really like to consciously uncouple from bread, but I don't know how sad

???

Kate1949 Wed 12-May-21 15:45:20

Mine too. *sodapop". smile
