and ate bread shock not me, Gwyneth Paltrow. Clearly I've been off the rails practically all my life.

Has anything sent you off the rails in the past 12 months? apart from reading the endless drivel spouted by a number of well known individuals quirky little statements such as that from the Goddess of Goop grin

Pork pies! Before lockdown was known to (very) occasionally say “ no, I’d better not?) now.... defo I’m who ate all the pies?

A good coffee and walnut cake is hard to beat.

Jaxjacky Fri 14-May-21 21:23:01

HillyN sorry, fish finger sandwiches are salad cream only! I have also in lockdown discovered coffee cake, I don’t eat sweets, or cake, or biscuits, well, hadn’t done for too many years to mention, I don’t generally have a sweet tooth. But I’ve indulged in coffee cake a few times, had to stop now, but fear coffee ice cream, the pricey ones, may replace it. As an inveterate tea drinker, it’s odd.

Pina Colada fans, M&S have a pineapple and coconut juice that you just have to add rum to. It's really, really delicious. I've been told...

I confess, it's Aldi's Belgian Buns are a serious weakness. And they're big enough to be used for Calendar Girls. Heaven help my hip level handles...

My weakness is Lemon & Lime posset - 100g of creamy citrus deliciousness. A kitchen drawer full of the little yellow ceramic pots bears witness to my lockdown addiction. I kid myself that eating it with blueberries makes it borderline healthy eating.

I really just need to know. Has anyone actually ever smelt a GP vagina scented candle and is there any comparison to the real thing? Also, why on earth would anyone ever want a vagina scented candle!! You really have to hand it to GP, she has an amazing ability to make a fortune by pandering to the idiot classes!!!

Sago, your comments made me laugh, which is no mean feat the way I'm feeling at the moment, so thank you!

Youngest daughter loves bread, she put on loads of weight before the pandemic, thought it was her "pub nights alcohol". Comes the pandemic and lockdown, she and her partner don't/won't drink in the house, so thought she would lose her "belly". She soon found out it wasn't the booze putting on her weight it was all the bread she was eating, and working from home didn't help, because she would veer towards the kitchen every time she took a break from her computer......this pandemic has a lot to answer for !!

Someone could probably make a lot of money starting a clinic where they stitch up mouths,I’d need to be first in line.

Aldis. Only $20 . They go very quickly. I have a confession to make. I greedily grabbed the last 2 in the shop!

I love white bread and also suffer awful bloating. I've cut down, but not completely. I'd love a dietitian to tell me what is good for me, and what is bad.

Alioop Fri 14-May-21 12:58:01

Never mind the bread where does nanna8get casks of Pina Coladas

Sago, love your post.
Chocolate ? and bread ? are my weaknesses. Our local Slimming world rep has declared an amnesty for all those of us going back to weigh in next week - I'm gonna need it!

SparklyGrandma Fri 14-May-21 12:16:14

White bread with naughty butter on it is the comfort food to surpass all others Annaram1 or more simply put, YUM.

Lucca living alone....blush

HillyN Fri 14-May-21 12:12:12

Fish finger sandwiches for me too, Grandmajet, but I prefer tartare sauce to ketchup. We have them on a day when we have the GC, so I have the excuse that I'm cooking fish fingers anyway. Yummy!

Annaram1 Fri 14-May-21 12:11:18

I too have discovered the delight of white bread (which I never ate before covid) toasted with lashings of butter and occasionally honey!!

By the way, you seem to think Sago has said some good things. I personally think some of her post was a bit rude. Am I the only one?

SparklyGrandma Fri 14-May-21 12:09:37

Toasted fruit loaf or naughty white bread, with lashings of real BUTTER on them.....chocolate.....living in M&S wide leg joggers and Seasalt long sleeve tops. The rumour that I have bought every colour is...misleading. Chocolate, did I say that?

Plants? Lindt.

Well bread has always been my weakness, even if a "let them eat cake!" directive was issued, and as much as I like cake, homemade of course, it would still be bread that I would dream of.

Sine the lockdown, I have discovered I do love thick Greek yogurt, none of that "Greek style yogurt" rubbish or reduced fat Greek yogurt.........no neither cut it, and of course to the yogurt, one has to add lashings some honey but I mitigate any unhealthy elements by adding hazelnuts, or so I tell myself! Why even Gwynnie should approve of such fare!

Davida1968 Fri 14-May-21 11:52:14

Over the last year DH actually has perfected his sourdough bread. Both white and brown versions. It's such tasty bread that at least one half of the loaf has to be frozen, as soon as it's cooled from the oven. Otherwise we'd eat it all, immediately....

Mollygo Fri 14-May-21 11:49:10

Bread-how can I resist the hot baguettes at out local supermarket, with the President mentioned on the previous page.
My SIL tried to lead me astray by sending a Cornish hamper with Cornish clotted cream. Please don’t tell me you can buy it in the North!

Beanie654321 Fri 14-May-21 11:44:06

Oh you have put a smile on my face this morning. Thank you.
