Litterpicker I happen to know it’s Marydoll’s birthday tomorrow! We were at school together!

Good morning (but it will be afternoon by the time this is posted!) from cloudy but bright West Sussex. We hoped for rain during the night but Somerset, Shropshire, Brackley and other places, have hogged it all.

We enjoyed our trip out to the ‘sound and light’ event yesterday evening. It was part of the mainly virtual, this year, Brighton Festival and staged outdoors at Shoreham Harbour. Very atmospheric with Dr Who style metal tripods and radiophonic sounds. We walked round the site, stopping to look and listen at each installation. DGD (17) said one reminded her of the Teletubbies - that thing that comes up out of the grassy hill ?

So pleased to hear your granddaughter has arrived safely Scentia. It has been an anxious time for you. I hope the difficult pregnancy and birth will soon be forgotten. The photo is absolutely lovely.

Love that peony Gelisajams. Can’t see any connection between ‘her’ appearance and her name - wonder how she got it?!

Trust Marydoll to keep us in suspension ?. Will tune in tomorrow for the surprise!

Ellan Vanin I often think of your Ruby Lou and hope she’s ok. I know you worry about her as we all do about our families. Hope you get to see her soon.

Ha ha you are set up for life Mattie!

grandMattie Thu 13-May-21 11:40:51

I have just received the unbleached calico I ordered. I now realise I have made the smallest of mistakes... Whoops. I now have enough calico to cover the house!!! :-)
I ordered 8m of 98in fabric instead of 6m of 54in fabric!
(Yes I know there is confusion of measures, but that was how it was bieng sold..0

Garryl there is a site my DD follows on Instagram called -grobrain. She works with children and young mums. The site is about the very early development of a baby’s brain and the bond with the mother. I find it absolutely fascinating and wish I’d understood so much more when I first had children. It might help your daughter’s confidence to go with her instincts.

And.......Good morning to you all from a bright and breezy Portugal. The sunshine is wall to wall this morning with just a few fluffy clouds.
Congratulations to Scentia and her family, gorgeous baby, and I hope that Susan’s daughter feels a lot better soon.
I’m glad you feel that this thread’s ‘morning’ extends to well past noon Grandmafrench. I seem to be getting later and later.grin

Good morning from a grey and cloudy East Midlands. A few drops of rain earlier meant the washing had to come back in. Weekly shopping done and put away and now having a hot chocolate (low calorie, of course) and feet up. Ham salad for tea tonight with yogurt to follow. The diet started last Monday and I am determine to keep going. I will get rid of this FAT!

Ought to tackle a cupboard but may wait until the feeling passes.

Good morning everyone dry at the moment but not for long

The hail we had on Tuesday has really damaged some of my new plants so I hope we don't get any more

What a lovely baby scentia congratulations

Ha do flat as a pancake day yesterday did nothing, spoke to no one just couldn't lift myself at all feeling brighter today

My oldest friend's daughter has her mastectomy today so I'm waiting for news later

Hope you all have a good day

Urmstongran Thu 13-May-21 11:04:58

It sound as if you walk at my speed, Urmstongran!

I’m tall grandmajet and I often find tall people stroll. Shorter people seem busier somehow and walk quicker!

Urmstongran Thu 13-May-21 11:02:06

grandMattie

All new posters - I would echo Marydoll’s comment. We are warm, supportive and welcoming, but as she says there is now a huge number of us and sometimes newbies get missed. This is emphatically not deliberate.
I hope the lurkers feel brave enough to join and, who knows, you might become one of the much commented upon regulars!

Plus in my opinion I think it’s a 2-way street grandMattie and Marydoll.

On numerous occasions I have spotted a newbie, given them a ? and a welcome - even jokingly asking about the value of their house - only for the poster to retreat not long after.

Morning everyone l hope you are all keeping well . It's dry and sunny here in Sherwood. I hope the rain keeps away until I have been to the post office. Waiting for my order of fruit and vegetables to be delivered. I have had a good week so far feeling well and I've managed to do a lot of housework.

EllanVannin Thu 13-May-21 10:43:05

Good Morning All x.
Fine and sunny but rain's forecast----again. It feels cooler too unless I haven't thoroughly warmed up after my early shower.
I was up about 7 , a quick cup of my mud grin then into the shower to make me look respectable before an early Asda delivery. Between 8 and 9. I didn't want to appear in a dressing gown so livened myself up.

Anyway, he was here about 8.30 so after I'd put everything away I had the crumpets and hot choc. I get £10 off my next order before the beginning of June so that's encouraging. I have enough grub to last me that long now. Love to see the freezer and cupboards full.

So pleased everything went well for mum and beautiful baby Scentia, a delightful picture. Hope all goes well for the other expectant mums here. Always anxious moments.xx.

A lovely surprise when D called yesterday. I hadn't seen her since Easter as she's been so busy with one thing and another----work, lifts to and from schools, shopping and general busyness, which I understand.

However we had a great catch-up and I'm now more or less up to speed with various goings-ons. It's been a wearying and worrying past 12 months for all the family and still is in a way but at least there's a glimmer of light at the end of a very long tunnel.

I hope to see Ruby-Lou at the end of the month as she's being brought down from Durham to stay with my D for the Whit weekend so I'll get together a little bag of gifts. Her mum ( my GD ) sees her every Saturday as she travels by train from Lime St., which is nearly a full day, 3hrs each way. We've yet to know what's in store for the child as nobody seems to know what's happening with her at the moment.
We don't want her to be miles away.

I hope your DD's illness can be resolved/ rectified Susan. It's the " not knowing " which is the worrying part. x.

Anyone else awaiting ops/ appointments I sincerely hope that life is made easier flowers

Not a lot getting done today and although I like the idea of Urmston's Geisha---they shuffle, don't they ? Well I wouldn't want to get to that stage yet, colourful as they sound. I'll be happy putting one foot in front of the other for now, thankyou. grin

Take care all and remain safe whatever you do.xx

Auntieflo Thu 13-May-21 10:21:59

Good morning *Mick, Annie, and all, on this wet, grey, dismal day from our bit of Berks, and I can't summon up any energy to get going, again ?, but I will in a minute or so.

Scentia, what a beautiful picture of your DD and new baby girl. Congratulations to all the family.

Must make another trip to the charity shop today, and return yesterday's purchase, for re-selling. I thought it was such a clever idea. A cradle for supporting a kettle, so that you don't have to lift it, to fill a teapot. Well, it just didn't work, for me, anyway!
I was going to try and get to the garden centre for some bedding plants, so if it's not raining, we will give it a go.

Gelisajams, that is a lovely peony. I will look out for one.
My favourite is Bowl of Beauty, just because it so regularly delights me every time it blooms, and they are just about to do that.

Sorry that there has been a bit of discord about 'cliqueyness' on here. Surely not. I have been posting here for ages, on and off,
and not found it to be so. Friendly, welcoming, supportive, but we can't all remember everybody.
There are a huge number if posters now on this lovely thread, and we sort of gravitate to a like minded person. Does that make sense, not sure, but I hope you know what I mean.

Has SheepandCattle posted lately? I miss her interesting posts. Like our lovely Marydoll, she could write a jolly post that had you smiling. Apologies if that's not allowed.

Cherry, glad to hear that the kitchen is coming along, even if you do have the odd toilet! stop along the way.

Have a good day one and all.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 13-May-21 10:20:43

Garryl our youngest GC is 16 months and is not a fan of sleeping during the night, (he has not had one full nights sleep to date). DD is on her knees, especially as she is back at work two days a week. All you can do is listen, maybe text her some days instead of ringing?

Hopefully things will settle sooner rather than later ?

Nannagarra Thu 13-May-21 10:13:51

Good morning from the Sefton coast where thankfully the sun is trying to shine - I have a garden meet up with friends this afternoon. It does make me smile when all six of us are trying to talk at the same time! Imagine next week when numbers are no longer limited - there are ten of us!
Lots of positive news including the safe delivery of Scentia’s beautiful granddaughter, MrGaga’s encouraging progress and dragonfly and jet’s successful hospital visits yesterday. Fingers crossed that Susan56’s DD is soon on the mend. A worrying time for you Susan. I bet you’re enjoying that cuddle in bed GG13 (it’s top of my bucket list). Did you get the recipe for apple scones Still? I’d like to make them dropping hints here to said recipe owner.
Most probably another 20 posts have appeared while I’ve been typing. This is a busy thread but it’s not too busy for people to join or indeed return...
Hope every one of you finds a reason to smile and giggle today.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and damp Northampton. Looks as though we have had rain overnight. I have the towels in the washing machine but not sure whether to put them out or not.

Sainsburys delivering at lunchtime, then settle down to finish off my wrap. I spent yesterday afternoon sewing it up and sewing all the loose ends of wool in. Now I have to do a crochet edging, but will have to look up the stitch on YouTube, as I have forgotten how to do double crochet.

Decided yesterday to move the furniture around in the smallest bedroom, but found out that the bed was too long to turn round without removing the head and foot boards, so it all went back in the same place again! At least I got to hoover the carpet under the bed which had not been done for years months.

Congratulations to Scentia on a beautiful DGD. So lovely. New life gives us so much hope.

Must text DD and see if she has booked her jab - she now falls into the age bracket being called.

Must now get on with a few jobs. Or shall I have a coffee?

Best wishes to all.

hulahoop Thu 13-May-21 10:08:40

aggie Thu 13-May-21 10:03:46

My last post was for Garryl

aggie Thu 13-May-21 10:01:58

Awww poor you , can’t do right for doing wrong , just listen to the moans and agree with everything !
I do understand , I was like your Daughter, my Mum was so worried that she rang back one night to make sure I was ok , and I snapped at her , I think you are right about your Daughter feeling out of control , then the tension transmits to the baby , just relax yourself and roll with the snapping !

hollysteers Thu 13-May-21 10:01:11

Good morning Mick and all from a breezy northwest Lancashire coast. My appetite is indifferent at the moment and I dither about wondering what to eat. A quiet day ahead sorting photographs. After 40 something years, it’s quite a haul. What makes us think we are going to live for ever? Lovely to see all the beautiful places I have been to, but bittersweet to see my lovely late husband enjoying all those trips. He managed to keep his finger half over the lens on many of them.?
Flying daughter flight to Tel Aviv cancelled, not surprisingly, so she’s on standby. She’s so thoughtful, phoning nearly every day. Wish she lived closer.
Congratulations Scentia another miracle and thoughts to Cherry, Marydoll, dragonfly and anyone with worries.

Kim19 Thu 13-May-21 09:59:13

Scentia??. Beautiful in every way. Thanks for sharing so quickly.

nanna8 Thu 13-May-21 09:54:18

What a beautiful baby Scentia, just gorgeous. Cold and wet this evening and I am hugging the fire. Hope you all have a lovely day. I was thinking it would be good to see a map where everyone is - quite widespread by the looks of things.
