I saw the cat too, very lucky and add to the fact she has 8 lives left.
I know what you mean about the pensions, if you got that plus back pay, all those coffee's you talked about would give you your caffeine fix for a very long time.

Hi Rufus, that cat was on the BBC news earlier today! We have intermittent showers and sun, still chilly, watching Saints v Fulham, if it’s raining on the TV, it’ll be upon us in the next 10 minutes, proper forecast. I’d avoid the Millau full stop. My bridge avoiding plan was foiled last time we were in France. We took two cars, I was lead driver, I could see a large bridge over the way, thought nothing of it until straight ahead it was there. Horror, but there was no option, just had to grit my teeth and white knuckle over it, I’d still avoid if possible, but didn’t topple over the side, my worst nightmare. I’ve just written out 24 plant labels for chilli and tomato plants, all babies in the greenhouse, most to be given away next weekend.
Sorted out plan of action for the pub Monday: table is reserved indoors 5pm, dinner will be in the slow cooker for our return, masks will be in pockets, Mr J will jump in shower straight from work, a leisurely stroll, ‘check in’ at the door, place our order and...relax.
Take care ?

Hi Rufus2 sorry to disappoint you with my fire. We're in a 4th storey flat so no chance of a real fire. Luckily, our old cat wouldn't dream of jumping out the window- or anywhere really. He just sleeps all day. I sometimes have to check he's still with us!
Another culinary treat tomorrow - Sunday lunch out. I've been eagerly perusing the menu online but I know I'll go for the roast, I always do but I like to see the choices.
I ordered a pair of shoes online. They're lovely but I had some pause for thought when I noticed they'd been made in India shock. Just being silly but I've quarantined them!

Hi Rufus. Saw that cat on TV too, think maybe he used more than one life! Grandson on coming indoors.....up til Monday lock down Rule was only 6 outside and not in the house, relaxing from 17th. And 6 indoors, rather odd because now 30 at wedding but no singing!! This grandson is getting married on 2nd July by which by 21st June the lock down should be OK but now Boris (PM) is saying the road map may change again because of Indian variant. So. ?????. Confused ??? I am. About 100 invited to the wedding.!
Keep well
Cheers

A feel-good tale to kick off with this evening. One of our TV News channel showed a cat on the ledge of a flat on fire on the fifth floor of a block of flats. It jumped and the camera followed it all the way to the ground, kept upright with legs splayed out, hit the ground, which appeared to be surrounding lawn, bounced up a little bit then took off like a rocket, seemingly undamaged.
Naturally ,it was a black cat which now has 8 lives to go! Amazing!

Callistemon On your behalf I plucked up courage and had another look from the top of the Millau and there does seem to be a thin ribbon of road at the bottom in the valley.
I couldn’t even consider being a passenger in a car, let alone driving across as everyone drives on the wrong side. My imagination is too vivid!

Megs Good to hear from you again and that you’re both OK.
I don’t think I could take to “lurking” as once upon a time there was a plea from some Grannies for more Grandads to “banter with”; the dreaded dangling preposition again!, so I’ve tried to oblige, but mostly all I get is threats to report or the cold shoulder. Even “Jokes’ rarely break the ice, but it’s all because of Covid I guess There; I feel better now! smile
Why is Grandson afraid to come indoors? We’ve got the Indian variant too with lots of citizens trying to re-enter OZ from India, but PM Scott is adamant for that not to happen yet!,

Jaxjacky C’mon now! Be an honary City fan just to support me then you can go back to your beloved Saints after we’ve thrashed Chelsea. Not long now1
I see we beat Newcastle which means my back-log of games to watch is even longer!
You’ll enjoy Weston-Super-Mare, never been there, but had a week in Llandudno
many many years ago which is close by if it’s still there’
I’m sure you’ll pay homage to John Cleese and his statues in WSM! grin

Aveline I checked out what an “Optymist” is and I’m disappointed in you!
An artificial fire!
What could be more romantic (rhetorical question) than a blazing open-hearth log fire which you can sit in front of in your electric recliner armchair with feet up, a glass of something or other in one hand and a bottle of the same stuff in the other, whilst you gaze into the flames with their everchanging patterns of faces and whatever your imagination can conjure! And of course with your ever faithful 4-legged friend at your feet on the hearth-rug also soaking up the warmth.
Your race is run and you’ve won, so enjoy!
Please pass the tissues!
Back to more mundane matters!
Good idea about asking for our money back, although not quite sure which mob has it! If we have a “clever clogs” in the audience perhaps she could work out what GBP10 in 1971 is worth in today’s money! hmm
Also, perhaps you could lobby your Member of Parliament to have the frozen State pensions of expatriates unfrozen!
Although it’s a pittance, 50 years of back pay plus allowance for cost-of-living increases would be nothing to sneeze at and would buy several cups of coffee!
So as you can tell, I’m in very serious mode! sad

Nurse Jackie!? Who is she? Reminds me of my Nurse Jacqui who sadly has left the organisation ministering to my medical needs!

Still bluddy cold here!
