I was so saddened by the interview with harry and megan , why would two people who have got exactly what they wanted are happy to create such pain for others

Anniebach Mon 17-May-21 17:27:23

It is healthy to talk but not to the world , if you want to work through emotional pain talking is helpful but talking to the world leaves you damaged.

Well, Larkin, is no guide, the coastal shelf is the shallow part of the sea around dry land. Coastal shelves do not deepen.

There is no element of genetic inheritance in abuse. It can be handed down by nurture, but not nature. Sounds to me like some theory someone has made up and touted around tinseltown, where it has gone down a bomb, a way of blaming others for everything so you do not have do anything to help yourself. If it is genetic, Harry will not be able to help himself repeat his parent's mistakes. Or is he getting his excuses in in advance, for when his children grow up and talk about their dysfunctional childhood!

Thank you, Gannygangan. It’s nice to be believed. I went through it as a child, so did those of my children who are redheads. Thankfully, none of my GC so far has red hair.

I always thought it was, ‘erodes like a coastal shelf’

SueDonim I'm always drawn to red hair. I love the warmth of it... and at its deepest it can be truly magnificent.

An older girl at my school (and one of her brothers) had the most stunning of reds and my best friend had gingery red hair.
The older girl had hair that was long enough to sit on in a plait. I saw her years later in a very fancy bar and it was loose and like the most glorious red cloak. I don't think I'll ever forget it. It really was her crowning glory.

I am so sorry your family have suffered for it. So, so unfair

Anniebach

*MOnica*. dry your tears x

AussieNanna I took one sentence out of a paragraph, she was
criticising Charles and put it forward as a hurtful comment.

Seems entirely perception to me, the comment ' another boy and he has red hair ' seems very neutral to me.

Sparkling Tue 18-May-21 05:31:10

Most people love red hair. I do think this thing about overthinking every comment tiresome. I used to be called names but by a few who just found anything to have a go about. Everyone one of us shoukd we want to, could find some perceived injustice. The comments made about babies looking like Churchill, were said out of affection not criticism. It's getting ridiculous.

RVK1CR Tue 18-May-21 05:59:32

@Sparkling - I agree with you. MEEgain has very expensive taste and seems to me to be very entitled. I think she thought by marrying Harry she would be able to do what she wanted without doing the work involved in being a royal. Money seems to be her god, she uses people and drops them when they are of no further use. When the Queen passes, the whole charade should be abolished

vegansrock Tue 18-May-21 06:38:09

Another amateur psychologist/ psychiatrist who knows exactly how another person thinks - she thought this, he thought that etc etc None of you “know “ any of this . Slagging off other people on the basis that they are slagging off other people is the epitome of hypocrisy.

M0nica Tue 18-May-21 06:40:41

Sparkling I so agree with you. In the past nicknames based on personal attributes were quite common and were generally not pejorative. I picked up one ot two at various schools based on my name or my glasses.

I always wanted red hair and was deeply envious of anyone who had it.

I am reading a book on the Royal Family in which Prince Charles is quoted saying. the Queen was a cold uncaring Mother,
And that he had grown up emotionally estranged and craving affection that she was unable to offer, He depicted his Father as an acid -tongued martinet,
And now we hear Harry almost word for word saying more or less the same about his parents, though surely he wasn’t meaning Diana, Who know,s who to believe.

Lilypops Tue 18-May-21 07:16:29

All I am saying is that that since Harry met Meghan. He is a changed person. I think she is behind a lot of his outpourings, I can almost imagine her saying. Harry. “ you have to talk about your problems s, let them all come out.
A lot of young people in the world lost a parent when they were young , ( me for one I lost both before I was 16). We just get on with it , Harry is so privileged, I wish he would shut up and find something useful to do and stop winging , he has lost a lot of respect lately. How awful of him to criticise his family. I can’t see him ever being made welcome back in England again and it’s all his own doing ,

Exactly. I don’t recall Charles being criticised for talking about his emotionally distanced parents, or for complaining his father sent him to The school he hated.

Most of us are old enough to have watched 4 year old Charles salute his mother on her return from a tour. No hugs there.

Lilypops Tue 18-May-21 08:00:41

I am 64. Yes. That photo of Charles saluting his Mother on her return from a tour will stay with me forever, Why couldn’t she have given him a hug for goodness sake. I realise it was always duty first. But honestly , a little boy saluting and shaking hands with his Mum. , ludicrous

lemsip Tue 18-May-21 08:09:25

vegansrock; 'Slagging off ' what a nasty term to use.

Lucca Tue 18-May-21 08:16:25

Nasty term for a nasty activity.

Anniebach Tue 18-May-21 08:28:56

so everyone who didn’t like the school they attended and say so
are accusing their parents of doing the same as Phillip, good grief , was every child in boarding school happy at school. Like
so many others Charles didn’t like the school and said so.

The Queen not hugging Charles was of it’s time, she had only
just become Queen, there were many at the station waiting to
meet her. To judge her as a cold mother on a film clip of a few minutes .

Ellianne Tue 18-May-21 08:41:41

I was Headmistress at my school and my daughter called me Mrs. W... like all the other children and shook my hand at home time. She laughs about it today, but thinks I was right! It didn't damage her for life, just having a sense of occasion.

eazybee Tue 18-May-21 08:51:52

The headline to Celia Walden's article in the Telegraph:
' Some free PR advice for Harry: put a sock in it.'
Succinct.

His crass rudeness to his American hosts: 'the First Amendment......... is bonkers'.
He does have a lot to learn.

Anniebach Tue 18-May-21 09:02:06

Lilypops which book you are you reading which claims Charles said ‘the Queen was a cold uncaring Mother ‘ ?

Anniebach Tue 18-May-21 09:05:19

The film of Harry and Meg and some other celebrities has been shown on BBC, it’s relating to mental health, a clip of Harry
walking behind Diana’s coffin.

Ellianne Tue 18-May-21 09:07:45

If all these other celebrities are shown crying about their past lot in these clips, isn't this going to have a bad impact on impressionable younger generations who are already mixed up and finding their way? I can see the waterworks being switched on everywhere.

Alegrias1 Tue 18-May-21 09:18:12

Yes, yes, stiff upper lip, don't you know chaps? Salute Mater and all that.

Yes yes, some of you will end up killing yourselves but at least you won't look like softies.

In my day we lived in a paper bag in the middle of the road. Be grateful you've got shoes, what what!

Lilypops Tue 18-May-21 09:29:07

Ellianne. I so agree. We see the tears at everything on tv. The wiping away of an imaginary tear, seems to be the norm now ,
The younger generation will think it’s what we have to do ,

Lilypops Tue 18-May-21 09:30:53

Annie. The book is called The Royals. By Kitty Lester. The quote is page 462 Printed in 1977 , not sure if it is still available
