I was so saddened by the interview with harry and megan , why would two people who have got exactly what they wanted are happy to create such pain for others

Alegrias1 Tue 25-May-21 13:12:47

I posted a map. wink

Its nowhere near Hollywood.

I seriously don't know Namsnanny. I can understand that people want to talk about H&M, even that they want to complain about their desire for publicity and their lifestyle in the US. Even about how people in the UK think they have "betrayed" the RF.

But I really, really can't understand why they need to have very similar threads, a couple of times a week, always with very similar and sometimes identical posts.

And I really can't understand why people say things as fact when they have no idea of the facts of the matter, it is just conjecture.

Of course we can have threads about anything at all that people want to talk about. Apparently its because people are interested in this pair. And I'm interested in why people are so invested that they need to forever be criticising them.

Like calling him dim? Is that the sort of thing you mean?

theworriedwell Tue 25-May-21 13:10:52

Having said the above I don't actually have a clue where they live so might be nowhere near Hollywood.

theworriedwell Tue 25-May-21 13:10:24

I used to live near Birmingham. If I told you the name of the village it would probably mean nothing to you. If asked where we lived we always said Birmingham as people who didn't know the village almost certainly knew Birmingham. That was to other people in the UK, from a longer distance I think mentioning a well known place that is close is perfectly reasonable.

I've just decided if they live in Hollywood, I live in Whitby, or York I can't decide which!!!! grin

Yes, an hour and a half's drive away?

I live in Kilmarnock! Who knew!

Smileless2012 Tue 25-May-21 13:07:31

Not as many things wrong as H & M it would seem.

If you're getting this wrong, maybe you can imagine that you are getting other things wrong too.

Harry is on record that Archie's first word was crocodile, but later Archie's first words were Grandma Diana. Wonder if Harry's memory is suspect in any other areas? You have to be amazed at Archie though, my kids all started with dada, mummum type sounds which we all pounced on as words! Even after a few months of expanding their vocabulary I don't recall any words to equal crocodile or phrases such as Grandma Diana. ?‍♂️

Alegrias and Nams, call me mad, but I honestly think that perhaps we should have a thread discussing the reasons behind the perennial fascination with the couple.

I have a question that no-one is obliged to answer, but I'll ask it anyway.

What is the fascination? Why do we have so many threads about this? And all so similar with sometimes identical posts?

What do you think Alegrias1?

living in Hollywood

They don't live in Hollywood sad

Why is this important? Because here is another made up thing about this pair that people are using to beat them up about. If you're getting this wrong, maybe you can imagine that you are getting other things wrong too.

trisher Tue 25-May-21 12:34:09

Thanks Galaxy I do appreciate people who recognise debate as something valuable and that we don't have to always agree with someone, in fact listening to other views is important. I think just seeing posts I agree with would be terribly boring.

FannyCornforth Tue 25-May-21 12:33:19

I don't understand why we have to rigidly stick to discussing the opening post.
Even the person who wrote the opening post has seems to have very little interest in it

Galaxy Tue 25-May-21 12:28:24

Tickingbird you seem to have no understanding of what an open internet forum is. I disagree with many of Trishers comments as I know she disagrees with many of mine, neither of us would say of the other that they werent allowed to express a view because of a particular standpoint we take. Trisher can express any viewpoint she likes, that doesn't break the guidelines, as can any of us.

Trisher Regardless of your self professed credentials on the matter, you aren’t on this thread in relation to the OP, you’re here to, yet again, trash the RF.

Whilst others have pointed out, and asked, many times why are there so many threads on Meghan and Harry, I’d like to point out that you have made it crystal clear you are a republican and don’t care for them. Why do you have to keep coming onto these threads, which aren’t about retaining a Monarchy or not? Nor about how they acquired their wealth. You come on because you don’t like the fact that some do enjoy having a RF and do have an interest in their lives. In short, you attempt repeatedly to derail and ruin threads because you don’t accept they should exist and moreover that others shouldn’t either!

I see Repub;licans aren't entiitled to a view on H&Mbecause they don't like the RF. Or could it [possibly be that we have a more balanced view of things don't get emotionally involved with people we have never met and quite frankly speak more sense than all the others who seem intent on either blaming the woman- she ran off with our prince! or castigating one rather dim privileged young man who has simply moved on.
I could qute simply say if you don't like them don't listen to them. Whatever you feel about the RF you don't have to.

In fact, she seems to be very much 'walking the walk', as opposed to 'talking the talk'.

Chelsy, that is

It was Malta.

Being entirely frivolous, and I do emphasise this. Were H & M to live in Africa, even with a beautiful house, it would be a lot cheaper than living in Hollywood (so would living at John o' Groats), so they would not need to do all these interviews to pay for their lifestyle there, just as nice, and no billionaire stars to jostle with for attention and news coverage.

FannyCornforth Tue 25-May-21 12:04:54

Chelsy (no second e, my mistake) now lives in her country of birth, Zimbabwe, where she has an ethical gem stone business.
Her father is a billionaire (!)
She is unmarried.

Now wouldn't that be a 'happily ever after...' ❤️

NotSpaghetti Tue 25-May-21 11:45:51

Fanny, I just think maybe Chelsey Davy would have helped him leave the family firm more "quietly" if she could have just stuck out all the original gawping.

Regarding Africa, what a great thing that would have been for Meghan and Harry to have started life "officially" part of the family but in a country a bit off the radar to the press, and one they both love (apparently). Harry could then have had a quiet life and they wouldn't have been so under the spotlight. I don't know what happened to that idea.
I think I remember the Queen having an early married life abroad - was it Malta? I could be wrong regarding Malta as not a royal expert!
