I am interested to find out why eligible people have decided not to have the vaccine. Just interested not judging!

Boogaloo Sun 16-May-21 16:09:32

I am unvaccinated because I have an autoimmune disease. - but I would not have the vaccination even if I was healthy.

My husband is fully vaccinated.

My youngest son and his girl friend, 32 & 28 respectively, are not getting vaccinated because they are getting married and starting a family very soon.

My oldest son, 47, had his second vaccine back in January.

If is not the short term side-effects that people are concerned about but the long term damage that might occur.

The pandemic hasn't changed our way of life here at all. We have been free to travel and haven't been forced to follow any rules. The only thing really was the restaurants were closed for inside dining. We managed though.

I haven't bothered with wearing a mask either. I've always been a bit of a rebel.

Ellenvanin my son is in Switzerland and the advice there is that if you have had covid you should only have one vaccination. Hopefully you are safe!

I've had both of my jabs and had no adverse reaction whatsoever. I couldn't even feel where the injection had gone into my arm, so I'm very grateful for that. A friend of mine has been ill ever since having hers in February, so she's not having her second. It seems to me that AZ causes the worst reactions as I haven't heard of anyone getting a reaction with Pfizer, which is what I had.

Unfortunately I feel that now the possibility has been mentioned, they won’t take even the tiniest chance.
Personally, I’d not heard of it, but apparently it’s all over social Media, as you said.

I don't know why people think that you don't get a reaction with the Pfizer vaccine. I know several people who have had nasty side effects from it. It is still not as bad as getting Covid though.

Boogaloo It has been said so many times the vaccination does not affect fertility. I have asked the question again and again but please could someone explain to me the exact method by which the vaccination affects fertility. There never seems to be an answer.

Has any vaccine ever caused longterm damage to those who receive it. Again a question that never gets an answer.

Boogaloo can you direct me, and many others to the peer reviewed sites that show how this damage occurs. I assume you must have done the research and found it convincing

EllanVannin The COVID jab is not connected with the most common causes of blood clots, the ones that cause the most strokes, just the quite rare cerebral venous thrombosis.

According to the British Medical Journal; www.bmj.com/content/373/bmj.n1005

The most important risk factors for CVT (most likely first) are oestrogen-containing oral contraceptives, prothrombotic (hypercoagulable) conditions (genetic or acquired thrombophilias), pregnancy and the puerperium, infections, malignancy,14 head injury (causing direct trauma to venous structures) and inflammatory diseases

Those who suffer from it are mainly women between the ages of 17 - 33. With due respect, I would suggest that these illnesses and that age profile does not include you.

The European Medicines Agency has estimated that the risk of cerebral venous thrombosis after the AstraZeneca vaccine is 5.0 per million people.

I fully respect your decision not to have this jab, especially after having such an unpleasant experience after the first one, but felt that you should be reassured that the chances of the vaccine causing you to suffer the kind of stroke it is associated with, need not enter into your consideration when making your decision

Husband has stage 4 cancer and is currently on palliative chemo. He now also has a blood clot on his lung due to the chemo and is on blood thinning injections. He has had both COVID injections on the Oncologists advice but he isn’t allowed the shingles injection as that is a live vaccine. He has had no side effects from Covid injections just usual awful chemo side effects.

Ellan I agree with you. If I had severe symptoms after the first, I would definitely not get the second one. I decided this beforehand. As it happens I had no reactions whatsoever. Did your doctor advise you for or against?

Megs36 Sun 16-May-21 17:36:16

No ill effects apart from slightly sore arm and most friends minor things, just thankful at my age to be offered the vaccination.

The last bit sounds totally irresponsible boogaloo
What country are you in that you haven’t been in a lockdown

SueDonim Sun 16-May-21 17:50:40

How selfish and disrespectful of other people’s safety.

On the OP, I don’t know anyone who has refused the jag. Everyone seems v grateful to have had it.

welbeck Sun 16-May-21 17:53:56

there is a medical person near here who is very anti -vaxx, anti masks etc, says it's the govt trying to control us all, even made analogy with nazi germany.
i don't discuss it with her.
she is an admirer of andrew wakefield.
it does concern me that she influences people, those who like organic things, or have some health anxiety. there are also a fan base who pay for her lectures. i feel it's morally wrong.

cornishpatsy Sun 16-May-21 17:54:57

My neighbour is not having it because 5 years ago she felt unwell after a flu vaccine. I have told her that Covid will make her feel worse but she will not have it, at 85 I do not rate her chances of survival if she does catch Covid.

I have had both injections, Astra Zeneca, as have all 3 of my daughters. Daughter 3 was poorly after the first jab, but fine after the second. The rest of us were fine. Eldest son and son-in-law both had Pfizer, my son was ill after the first, fine after the second, SIL has been OK.
