The House of your dreams

What would it be like? One of my daughter's friends has just built the house of her dreams. It is massive, built in sandstone on a couple of acres and each of her 3 children has their own private sitting room, bathroom and bedroom. I don't think I'd actually like that ( not that I could afford it anyway). I like rustic type houses with privacy and a good view . No roads in sight, preferably.

My dream location and house is the inspector's beach cottage in "Death in Paradise" ☀️?️☀️
I think there might be a whole village of us on those sands soon!
??️???

A huge house so our three adult kids and their partners could have separate living quarters. Our two grandchildren are disabled so it would need a hydrotherapy pool, stables and acres of land for go karting and other activities they love. All I need to do is win the Euro millions ............

Mine would be a 3 bedrooms bungalow with access from every bedroom to the gardens, large lounge, smaller lounge where mybooks and music would be, again with French Windows in each room, medium sized kitchen, small separate dining area, utility room, good sized porch area, family sized bathroom and one an-suite bathroom. And the home has to be wheelchair accessible everywhere . Good sized gardens which are suitable for a wheelchair to get round and to be able to garden from the wheelchair. Don't want much do I?

Seems that I have come late to the party ?, but, just what Urms said please.
The would be neighbours sound like my sort, so, when the row of beach houses has been found, please put my name down.

Country Georgian manor house by a babbling brook and mill (the big house I remember when I stayed with my godmother nearby) near a cathedral or university town.
Also a London flat and Paris if money no object.

I’ll bring the lemon puffs!

A little place by the sea, soft sand, maybe a small garden with wildflowers and apple trees. Just to sit and listen to the waves and seagulls, read a book, have a cup of tea, a gin and tonic........

I think there’s going to be a bunch of us living in Urmstongran’s dream!

We live in a Scandi Hus. Triple glazing. Rotatable windows. Wide windows and well insulated. Near the sea but no sea view. Still you can’t have everything . ?

I love very futuristic houses with huge windows and angular square lines.

I grew up in a house with huge windows and have always loved a house with a lot of natural light. With a family of artists behind me, I'm drawn to minimalism and clean lines. Can't bear clutter!

One of these please, facing the sea with the moors (preferably North Yorkshire ones) behind me

Same here. 50 years ago no one wanted to buy these houses.
Nightsky C1968 and £750.
Right on the front!
But we were saving for a deposit for our first house.

The coast for me as well with views of the sea. Nothing big or too modern for me. Cottage with three bedrooms, small enclosed garden, no conservatory, no woodburner and a boot / utility room. Definitely en suite bedrooms. Heaven.

I've just walked from Rock to Daymer Bay for the 5th day running. Found you this pretty one Urmstongran and co. Not too big, a few steps from the beach?

shysal Mon 17-May-21 12:42:15

I shall be in good company Urmstongran and co. I shall not even wear a sundress, prefer a swimming costume plus large sarong tied in various ways to suit the occasion!

Cherrytree59 Mon 17-May-21 12:21:55

Couldn't agree more Urmstongran
That was our plan then grandchildren came along?.

Nightsky we were tempted by a fisherman's cottage at Padstow over 50 years ago (really cheap then) but were saving up for a sensible house near where we worked and couldn't afford both!

If I knew then what I know now .....

Same here. 50 years ago no one wanted to buy these houses.

We viewed a property in Padstow (we viewed lots) which had good sea views and close to the front but my DH was put off by the amount of work it needed doing to it. It needed gutting and while he hesitated Rick Stein bought it.
DH can be very fussy.

If only we knew then what we know now.....

Callistemon Mon 17-May-21 12:02:48

Right, time to tidy up ?

3nanny6 Mon 17-May-21 12:01:11

A detached house, inside I want old fashioned real wood floors with a few scattered rugs large windows and plenty of light and completely uncluttered.
I would settle for well maintained garden with seating area or
even something situated close to a beach.
I want a large kitchen with the island in the middle and loads of cupboard storage space.
I need a lottery win soon to go and buy it.
