‘ The Revenant’ was one of these. Very boring.

Actually I wouldn't waste my time on most of today's films because of CGI. They seems to be made for youngsters and the effects are completely over the top and unreal.
If I'm watching a disaster movie I'd prefer it had some semblance of reality! Twister was pretty good but it was made in 1996 before CGI really went bonkers in the digital age (after 2000).

DH and I started watching La La Land on tv and both agreed that if it didn't improve we would switch it off. It didn't improve - so off it went.
I've never watched the Sound of Music but I've seen enough excerpts and heard enough songs to know I would hate it. And I generally love a musical.

Maybe because I was weaned on old 20thC movies where they used real people and real waves, but I hated the CGI in these two:
Atonement - the D Day beach scene looked totally fake.
The Perfect Storm - George Clooney. The waves in the sea were ridiculously huge and unreal.
Nowadays they could probably do it better.

La la Land, Cats, Brokeback Mountain.

Cats. Dreadful, but I nearly fell off my seat as I went to sleep, I just thought it very weird and boring, would have left but my friends stuck it out but thought the same.

Friends of ours took us to see Cats in London, years ago on stage. They loved it, we hated every minute of it.

Same with happened with Barnum the musical, London stage, starring Michael Crawford, mid 80s - it was dreadful!

Yes Dunkirk was a huge disappointment, agree.

It was awful

Adrift. Everyone jumped off a yacht without considering how they’d get back on. VERY DEPRESSING.

I may be one of the very few who liked La La Land.

Really disappointed by the new David Copperfield, which altered the story beyond recognition. What a waste of some excellent actors.

Pulp Fiction. Walked out.

When we were courting, we went to see ‘The Battle Of Britain’.
I found it boring, didn’t know which side was which.

DH was disappointed when we went to see ‘The King And I’, he didn’t realise it was a musical, because it had Yul Bruner in it he assumed it would be a western or an action film!

Oh I recall The Battle of Britain, we had a bubble car, a Messerschmidt, all the way home OH was playing at being a gunner, shooting down the enemy.

Generally I dislike films with a contrived message, there to prick the consciences of the Oscar voters etc!..

I've just remembered The Way We Were which could have done with at least 30 minutes lopping off. I was fidgeting in my seat and willing it to end. There were a few scenes when I thought it was going to finish, but no, still more. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than watch it again.

Oddly enough I saw that the other day for the first time, I was really disappointed with the ending but did enjoy it. Robert Redford, what's not to like!

I loved The Revenant. I thought Moulin Rouge was the biggest load of twaddle ever made!!

In-laws organised a big family outing to see Cats on stage years ago. I hated it, but had to grateful and very enthusiastic afterwards. (I was grateful - it was over)

You sound like me when I managed to drag OH to see Phantom of the Opera, I know it's not a film, we were drinking our half time drinks and I really didn't want to go back for the second half but OH was a Yorkshireman, we'd paid so we had to watch the rest.

I detested Titanic, don't know if it's been mentioned already.
Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven, after 15 minutes I went and sat in the foyer with a crossword while OH watched it.

To many to mention these days.

How anyone can say The Revenant I find surprising. Loved it (and seen many times). The Shape of Water, wtf?
And for a current one on Netflix, The Woman in the Window, crapola.

I remember me and fiancé who was doing RAF flying training in 1970’s going to to a Manchester cinema to see ‘Jonathan Livingstone Seagull’ film which was from an acclaimed book. Absolute rubbish... but fiancé loved it with all the flying. I fell asleep.....

La La Land - tedious.
(I saw Beauty and the Beast in the same week and much preferred it.)

Is that the Emily Watson Beaut and the Beast? I had it on dvd and watched it over and over again. Loved it. (wasn’t expecting to).

Manchester by the Sea - yawn.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 26-May-21 12:39:45

High-Rise with Tom Hiddleston. We walked after an hour or so. Very grim and not what we expected. OH and I went to see Dogville with Nicole Kidman. A three hour film and OH wanted to leave after 10 minutes. We stayed. He despised it and I loved it.

@HemelBelle. I have the Barbra Streisand/Kris Kristofferson version of A Star is Born on DVD. Way better than the latest miserable offering.

I totally disagree. I loved the version with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, I still get goosebumps when I hear the song Shallow.

Hated Turner, Timothy Spaull grunted all the way through and Mamma Mia was an embarrassment.

I disliked Mrs Lowry as well as Turner, the latter being a huge disappointment as I went to see it expecting great things of it. However, in general I usually love anything that Timothy Spall does. I’ve never liked Mamma Mia but did watch the second one the other week, mainly because Cher was in it and she can do no wrong in my eyes.

I loved Mrs Lowry! Just my perfect kind of film.
