‘Won’t you be too hot in that?’ (Lighthearted trivial moan!)

Not that question, but Mr. B is always too hot and I am always cold. Obviously he is the abnormal one

Yep, I get that question too.
If I say I am chilly, he has to tell me what the temperature is in whichever room / place we are in. If I feel cold, I feel cold !

Blimey,thank god it isn`t just me that has a man like that.

I saw a social media post from a young woman I know, who said that she hated that comment too, as she has scars on her arms from self-harming, which she covers in all weathers.

I can see that it's the sort of thing that people say without thinking (in the nicest possible sense!), but I try never to comment on people's appearance like that. No 'have you lost weight', or 'you are looking so much better now' or anything of that sort. I would say 'I like your dress, or hair', but you just never know when a personal comment could be really hurtful.

My late mother was convinced every illness was due to a chill on the kidneys,liver,chest etc.
Her house was hermetically sealed and the heating always on.

I hate to be too hot and was always being told I would “ catch my death”

I live in a draughty old house and will put on a jumper rather than the heating.
I rarely catch anything.

I have one like that he spent years telling me that I wasn’t trying hard enough as I couldn’t keep up with him. Finally I was diagnosed with hypermobilty which means you tire more easily than “normal people” !

I’m guilty of saying the opposite to DH: “Aren’t you going to be cold without a jacket”? And usually he’s the only one in a t shirt apart from joggers! He does comment that I’m not going to need a coat/scarf/hat but I no longer take any notice!

Bluesky I stopped saying such things to dh a while ago on the grounds that a) he’s supposed to be grown up, and b) despite many years away, he’s lived for long enough in the U.K. to know that sun and blue sky does not mean it’s going to be warm - not in January, anyway.

If it is hot and sunny though, it can be tempting not to remind him to bring a hat, without which his nut will get burnt - but I’ve been known to remind him anyway.
