I've just checked this out. It seems that "The Lions" or "Rotary" clubs both do it depending on area.
Also, have a look at Vision Aid.

Try the Rotary club?
They definitely used to collect them.

Take them to your nearest Opticians .
I believe they can be utilised in third world countries ( I do so dislike this term)where they will greatly appreciated.

Pre Covid my local RSPCA charity accepted them.

I'd heard of a charity, so I just did a search and found this ...

Donate eyeglasses to Vision Aid Overseas ...
Your glasses can be left at opticians throughout the UK and they will be recycled to raise money for their work in the developing world. You can donate them at many branches of Vision Express, Specsavers and Boots Opticians as well as many independant opticians.

A lot of Specsavers take them, but not at the moment.

Years ago I worked for a charity which had a huge pile of used spectacles stored under a tarpaulin in the yard. These had been donated after a Blue Peter apppeal. Every now and the we would be visited by an Optometrist who would give up their time to test and sort them. They could test and label probably about 10 pairs in an afternoon. It was very time consuming work and hardly made an impact on the big pile of spectacles. The tested spectacles weren’t ever requested but were added to orders of medical equipment sent to hospitals in developing countries in the hope that someone would want them.

Charity shops in this country wouldn’t be able to move them on and if they find them in donations then they will go straight in the bin. You could save the charity shop volunteers some time by throwing them straight in the bin yourself.

Is any charity shops (or similar) that are accepting spectacles?
